Ann Droid made a comeback tonight with another twist in Sue and Linda’s story.

BBC fans rushed to say the same thing about Diane Morgan and Sue Johnston’s new sitcom Ann Droid tonight.

The fourth episode of Ann Droid aired this evening, Friday, August 7, at 9.30pm, on BBC One, with Sue (played by Sue Johnston) welcoming her son Michael (Paul Ready) and his wife Renee (Andrea Valls) for what was meant to be a happy family dinner.

Of course, this didn’t go quite according to plan as they announced they were trying to get pregnant, much to Sue’s frustration, before asking her to give them money for a new house.

But as the episode continued to play out with carer droid Linda (Diane Morgan) not sure when it is appropriate to celebrate their news, fans soon had their say.

Many viewers flocked to X share the same praise with some labelling Ann Droid as “absolutely brilliant”.

The same fan continued: “lots of real laugh out loud moments both Sue and Diane are fantastic!” A second wrote: “Love Ann Droid, so funny”, with another writing: “So funny!

“I absolutely love this series! I wish robots were really so advanced – I’d definitely buy one!”

A fellow viewer said: “Time for the best part of the week” at the start of the episode with someone else remarking: “It’s a terrible idea – but somehow it does work.”

Meanwhile, a user who had already binge-watched the entire six episodes, commented: “Just finished Ann Droid and my sides are splitting. That was f*****g hilarious.”

By the end of this evening’s episode, Phyllis (Margot Leicester) visited Sue in tears, sharing that no one turned up to her birthday party.

After sharing a few glasses of wine with Diane playing party music in the background, the pair shared stories of their “terrible families”.

But realising that she didn’t want to miss out on being a potential grandmother, Sue left her son Michael a voicemail saying she would downsize to free up money for him and Renee.

A tipsy Sue and Phyllis continued to dance and celebrate as Linda tried to tell her that it would lead to “financial ruin” but is she right?

A heartwarming tribute was aired after a special renovation.

After launching in 2024 as one of Channel 4′s biggest new lifestyle titles, Renovation Rescue has returned for a second series with two brand new hosts.

Armed with a degree in Construction Design and Management and another in Quantity Surveying, presenter Vogue Williams has taken charge of proceedings alongside trained heating and plumbing engineer and former Love Island star Luke Mabbott.

The series follows ambitious renovations as Vogue and Luke share money-saving skills, offer design inspiration, and demonstrate simple DIY techniques that anyone can try.

During the latest episode on Thursday (August 6), Vogue and Luke helped retired artist Penny in Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex.

After losing her partner of 20 years, Penny planned to make a fresh start near her daughter and grandchildren by the seaside.

“He died very suddenly of septicaemia, virtually overnight. He was climbing trees one minute and the next minute he was gone. I woke up one day and said, ‘Look, Penny, he’s dead. You’re alive, so get on with it and make the best of the time you have here,'” she said.

But after Penny fell for a house that needed a total overhaul, the plans were put on hold as the renovation went badly over budget and behind schedule.

“I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this level of anxiety and stress,” Penny revealed.

To make Penny’s remaining budget go further, Vogue showed her clever ways to achieve the artistic aesthetic she loves without spending a fortune, including helping to create some beautiful cupboard doors with a lozenge-shaped detail.

Meanwhile, Luke showed Penny how to tackle DIY tasks including blockwork in the courtyard and creating a garden gate.

Later in the episode, Penny showed Vogue a picture that her late partner, Martin, had drawn years before – which has become one of her most treasured possessions.

“To me it’s quite important because I haven’t been able to show any of his work. He was very proud of this piece of work, actually,” she said, before Vogue added: “I think this should be the last thing that you put on the wall.”

Penny agreed: “Yeah and I will feel that Martin’s finally found a place,” leading Vogue to share how pleased she was that Penny could start looking to the future.

After all the work had been done on the property, Vogue and Luke paid Penny a visit and were stunned by the transformation.

Penny had even put Martin’s “beautiful” framed picture in the centre of her living room, flanked by a pair of floor-to-ceiling alcove cupboards that the hosts had made.

“It looks amazing,” said Vogue, with Penny concluding: “I feel as if I’ve got past the grieving stage where I’m not crying at the drop of a hat. Now, I can look at it and feel pleased that it’s there. He was very pleased with that piece of work.”

True crime fans have been left stunned after watching harrowing episodes of the “best” BBC series – and another airs tonight.

Murder 24/7 has returned to screens for its third run, once again plunging viewers into real-life murder investigations in the UK. Following West Mercia Police, viewers have so far witnessed chilling murders as detectives work against the clock in their pursuit of justice.

Last night (August 4), the first of a two-part special aired on BBC One at 9pm delving into the murder investigation of Jamie Gawler. Jamie was found dead by police in an armchair in a flat, with a towel draped over his face.

Officers were stunned to hear the horrific post-mortem results as their investigation led them miles away in South Wales and a potential suspect.

The second episode will air tonight (August 5) on BBC One at 9pm, with episodes also available to stream on BBC iPlayer. However, viewers have been left sickened by the latest instalments.

Taking to TikTok, one true crime fan admitted their “jaw was on the floor watching this show”. In the video, they added: “Wow. Absolutely brutal…. I couldn’t believe them episodes, they were brutal.”

One person commented: “Omg I’m addicted to this one bet my leccy bill sky high.” Another replied: “It was horrific”, as a third said: “It was a hard watch.”

The second part of the two-parter, titled Natural Born Killer, will return tonight at 9pm as detectives continue to build their case against suspect Matthew Jonathan.

A BBC synopsis reads: “A critical forensic breakthrough comes when analysts match an incomplete, bloody footprint from the scene to Jonathan’s rare boots via a national database. Soon after, investigators recover a series of phone videos that reveal the true extent of the assault.”

A separate case featured also sees a woman fighting for her life after a brutal assault with a meat cleaver as her partner is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The Sky Documentaries special takes a closer look at the terrifying incident and the aftermath which saw British national Dawn Sturgess killed after encountering the deadly nerve agent.
2. The 2018 attack left the Skripals unconscious on a bench in Wiltshire, with authorities believing Novichok had been applied to their front door. Dawn Sturgess, 44, tragically died after she and partner Charlie Rowley found a contaminated perfume bottle seven miles from the original scene.
3. A judge leading a new inquiry last year said there was an “overwhelming risk” of a physical attack on the Skripals if their whereabouts were discovered. However, Sergei told officials: “I never thought the Russian regime would have tried to murder me in UK, they could’ve killed me easily when in prison.”
4. After recovering from the attack, Yulia said: “We are so lucky to have both survived this attempted assassination. Our recovery has been slow and extremely painful.” She added that the assault had left a “devastating” mark on their lives. The Skripals were housed in an MI6 safe house for two years before reportedly relocating overseas under new identities, possibly to New Zealand or Australia.
5. Their former neighbours received a Christmas card in 2019, saying: “It’s nice to know they are thinking of us, but I don’t expect we’ll ever see them again.” The contaminated Salisbury property was decontaminated and sold to Wiltshire Council for £260,000, eventually being purchased by a local resident in 2023 as the community attempts to move forward from the traumatic events.

Don’t Date Brandon is the ‘terrifying’ true crime series that fans won’t be able to stop watching tonight.

Don’t Date Brandon viewers have been left with “chills” after watching the three-parter.

Originally released on Paramount Plus last year, Don’t Date Brandon is making its way to Channel 4 tonight, Thursday, July 30, with all three episodes shown back-to-back.

The true crime doc follows Brandon Johnson’s first and second ex-wives, Athena Klingerman and Amber Rasmussen, respectively. After getting in touch and sharing their experiences of a toxic relationship with Johnson, including alleged years of threats, stalking and harassment, they reportedly secured protective orders against him.

The pair then went on to the podcast Ex-Wives Undercover to alert other women and give others who encountered him a voice.

Where is Brandon Johnson now?

Brandon Johnson was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in 2023 to assault as well as attempted kidnapping with intent to rape.

According to the docu-series, he also “admitted to 10 counts of attempted first-degree theft in a separate fraud case”, stealing $392,000 from his former employer HTC.

He was sentenced to 36 months in prison in 2019 for this case ordered to be served concurrently with his 10-year term.

As part of the original plea deal that Johnson made at the time, he agreed to lifetime registration as a sex offender in California.

He is currently serving his decade-long sentence in a California state prison but Johnson is up for parole in May 2027.

Speaking to Variety about concerns they had about turning the podcast into a series, Klingerman said: “We thought long and hard about it, because you’re right: This story is reaching an even broader audience now.

“But we needed to get the word out, so it was worth any consequences we could face. At this point, it’s like let’s keep moving forward.

“Let’s expose who Brandon is, because Brandon represents so many other Brandons out there. It’s worth the risk of backlash to reach a larger audience and let other people know who might be going through this that they are not alone.”

Benidorm Is Murder starring John Hannah is Channel 5’s new comedy crime drama.

Actor John Hannah fronts a new Channel 5 crime series perfect for The Good Ship Murder fans.

Benidorm Is Murder is a six-part series which kicked off this week. On Thursday night (July 30) viewers tuned in to watch the first episode as they saw John’s character Dennis, a retired detective, hire a new staff member.

Unbeknowst to him, Rosa (Carolina Bécquer) is a true-crime obsessed barmaid who is eager to help when a murder unfolds closeby.

When a member from a Take That tribute band is found dead in a hotel pool, the police spring into action. However, Rosa doesn’t think they’ve got the right person and sets out to solve the case with Dennis.

Viewers were quick to comment on the new series, with many comparing it to Channel 5’s Good Ship Murder, reports the Express.

One person said: “#benidormismurder Is a carbon copy of #Thegoodshipmurder but I’ll persist with it!!”

Another replied, saying: “I love #TheGoodShipMurder so yeah #BenidormisMurder is worth sticking with.”

Sadly, not everyone was overjoyed with the opening episode as one viewer commented: “Thought I’d give #BenidormIsMurder a go, Take That, John Hannah….good mix! But no, it’s terrible! Sorry!”

While another added: “Another clichéd drama from #ch5. Predictable story, formulaic structure, poor script and poor acting. Just not interesting enough. Not for me.”

This week, John Hannah appeard on The One Show to speak about the new six-part series, although quickly took a cheeky swipe at the pay he got for the show. He said: “Some great guests come in. In fact, we shot the third episode first. We shot that in Gran Canaria, actually.

“The first episode was an Irish hen party, half a dozen terrific Irish actresses turned up and Trevor. A bunch of Irish actors turned up, and they all knew each other a bit.

“It was October, cold back here [the UK], a good script, two weeks in the sun, having a laugh, they all knew each other, so there was a great bond there, a great chemistry there.

“Simon and I were talking at the end of that episode, we were like, ‘Wow, they’ve set the bar really high. There’s something about a good script, a bit of sunshine, regardless of the pay… which wasn’t the best, but anyway it doesn’t matter.”

While everyone laughed at the cheeky jibe, another guest on the programme joked that he shouldn’t mention money.

John replied: “No, let’s not because we’re not doing it for the money, right? Of course not. It was brilliant, everyone came out. We were all getting paid….a bit.”

BBC viewers have been left devastated and in floods of tears following a heartfelt tribute to Bonnie Tyler.

The iconic Welsh singer died aged 75 on July 8 at a hospital in Portugal, with a statement from her family and team saying they were “heartbroken” to announce her “unexpected” death, reports Wales Online.

The star, who split her time between South Wales and her home in Faro, Portugal, had been due to embark on a European tour later this year but was hospitalised in May.

Bonnie was initially said to be stable and recovering well from her surgery, but less than 24 hours later, she was placed into an induced coma.

In the wake of her passing, the BBC announced a special tribute programme would broadcast on Saturday, July 25. It showcased highlights from her 50 year career, including interview segments and electrifying performances.

Tuning in to the show on BBC Two, viewers were moved to tears. One fan wrote: “What a distinctive voice Bonnie Tyler had. It’s a heartache is a banger. Even if I can only hear it’s a hard egg.”

Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt confessed to police that she killed Theo Silverton – but has claimed that it was in self-defence. The legendary soap character, who has been played by Tina O’Brien since 1999, beat the scaffolder over the head and sent him tumbling from the builder’s yard roof earlier this year.

It all came just moments after Theo whole load of derogatory remarks towards her but the pair were already enemies because she knew that he had subjected her best friend Todd Grimshaw to horrific abuse during their relationship.

Viewers will know that, on that fateful night, Sarah, who is currently dating DC Kit Green, called her ex-boyfriend Gary for help before heading home and being hit on the head and knocked out cold by the mysterious Jodie Ramsey .

In the weeks after Sarah confessed to Kit, he has been doing everything he can to try to get her off the hook and pin the blame on Gary, but she is currently in prison and has been charged with murder.

On Friday night’s episode of the world’s longest-running TV soap, Sarah was interviewed by DS Lisa Swain, who usually locks innocent people up, and she didn’t quite believe her story.

Sarah told her: “I barely remember calling Gary. He answered the phone. And I realised how crazy I was being. OK, fine, I did – I wanted to tell him what I’d done. And then the second… that I heard his voice. I realised that I couldn’t let him get involved and ask for his help!” Sarah then tried to explain the phone call, to no avail, and Lisa was very interested to know what she did with the murder weapon – which Gary disposed of – and the factory supervisor simply claimed she couldn’t remember.

Over in the Rovers, Lisa and Kit sat having a casual chat about the murder investigation and she told him that Sarah clearly didn’t think much of him if she called her ex-boyfriend rather than him. Whilst on the phone in her cell, Sarah told Kit that she couldn’t possibly bring Gary into it – much to her partner’s frustration.

It was then that Sarah attempted to split up with Kit on the phone, for his sake, but he was having none of it. She said to him: “Just look after Harry and Bethany for me,” but when Kit mentioned Jodie, Sarah was quick to warn him that she is a “dangerous” woman and he needs to keep away from her.

The scenes certainly sparked a reaction amongst fans, with some theorising that Sarah didn’t actually kill Theo after all.

One fan wrote on X: “Sarah’s finally told someone about Jodie being the person who hit her on the head that night. So, now Kit knows, I’m wondering if he will frame Jodie as Theo’s real killer? But, Sarah having the nerve to call Jodie dangerous, while on remand for murder, is peak irony”

Another said: “I think Sarah didn’t kill Theo. I think he was battered whey he lay unconscious… possibly by his son? I also feel the story of the life insurance is going somewhere.”

In response, a third said: “It would mean overturning the autopsy report, which stated Theo was dead before he fell. Corrie have hade a problem there, if they wanted a second killer. Otherwise, I would also go with Millie or Miles. And, I would like Todd to get the life insurance back. He’s earned it!”

July 16 (UPI) — President Donald Trump on Thursday made sweeping, largely unsupported claims of widespread problems with U.S. elections, many of which have been debunked or overstated, as he called on Congress to pass legislation he says would protect the electoral system but critics describe as voter suppression.

During his roughly 25-minute prime-time speech to the nation, Trump attempted to make his case for measures needed to address the alleged vulnerabilities, stating, “Our elections were left vulnerable to being rigged and stolen, and the trust of the American people was lost.”

“This cannot be allowed to continue,” he said.

The speech was delivered only months before November’s midterm elections, on which Trump has increasing focused, having repeatedly warned that if Republicans lose their slim majority in the House to Democrats, impeachment proceedings and investigations will follow.

Democrats and other critics have accused the president of attempting to sow confusion and distrust ahead of the midterms while pushing the election SAVE American Act, which would require photo identification to vote, documentary proof of citizenship to register and restrict mail voting to certain eligible groups. Opponents say those requirements would disproportionately burden Black and other minority voters and prevent some otherwise eligible citizens from voting.

Maya adds: “The girl and boy with the fewest votes are…” before the trailer cuts off, creating suspense for it all to play out in Thursday night’s episode. Now, fans are sure that Finely was the one who got dumped by the public and Ellie chose to walk out shortly after.

BBC viewers paid tribute to Dame Penelope Keith, following her death aged 86, as the broadcaster aired a special episode of The Good Life.

BBC viewers have been left “heartbroken” as they paid tribute to an iconic actress.

In a change to scheduled programming, the broadcaster made the decision to honour Dame Penelope Keith with a classic episode of The Good Life on Monday, June 29.

Dame Penelope, star of the 1970s British sitcom, died aged 86, with her family releasing a statement.

They said she “died peacefully whilst living with cancer at her home in Surrey”.

As fans mourned the To the Manor Born actress and friends paid tribute, the BBC confirmed the Margo Leadbetter actress would be remembered with the episode airing on BBC Two.

From the third series of The Good Life, it followed war breaking out between the Goods and the Leadbetters, “proving there is nothing like a good fight over the fence to cement relationships”.

Jon Petrie, Director of BBC Comedy said: “All of us at BBC Comedy are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Penelope Keith. She was one of the defining figures of British television comedy.

“Her iconic performance as Margo in The Good Life remains one of the nation’s most beloved sitcom roles and continues to delight audiences today.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and all of those who had the privilege of working with her.”

Watching the repeat episode, one person wrote on X: “Just watched #TheGoodLife on bbc as a tribute to Penelope Keith. Still very good!”

Another said: “Lovely to watch #thegoodlife. it brings back memories of when I was a kid. RIP Penelope Keith.”

A third wrote: “Genuinely had something in my eye as soon as the theme tune came on #TheGoodLife #DamePenelopeKeith Thank you BBC2.”

Paying their respects, one person said: “I am shocked and now, heartbroken. … Absolutely love this lady. I’ve watched #TheGoodLife so many times, over the years and it just becomes even more funny each time I watch it – seeing/hearing something that I’ve missed previously… I think another “binge-watch” of “The Good Life” is now due. In honour of the beloved #DamePenelopeKeith.”

Someone else wrote: “Pleasing to see BBC 2 scheduling an episode of The Good Life at 7 this evening, by way of tribute to the wonderfully talented Penelope Keith. Hopefully there will be more in the coming weeks. A Penelope Keith night on BBC 4?”

The statement from Dame Penelope’s family read: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Dame Penelope Keith died peacefully whilst living with cancer at her home in Surrey where she had lived for more than 50 years.

“The family is grateful for the care and support she received throughout her treatments, and ask that their privacy be respected at this time.”

At 8pm, viewers can tune into the hour-long documentary Millionaire Superyacht: Why Ships Sink on BBC Two.

The special takes a look at the intense storms of August 19, 2024 when the 54m superyacht Bayesian mysteriously sank off the coast of Sicily where seven people onboard died.

“As search and rescue teams scoured the coast for survivors, questions were asked”, the synopsis continues.

“Why did a multimillion-pound superyacht sink when others nearby didn’t?

“This documentary investigates what went wrong and what needs to be done to keep ships safe at sea.”

When the incident was taking place, all other vessels in the area mysteriously remained afloat but in that same year, aSea Story, a Red Sea dive boat, also capsized without warning.

Why Ships Sink features interviews with experts, including Bayesian’s former captain Stephen Edwards and Dr Sarah Martin who survived the Sea Story.

This documentary is part of a wider anthology series which takes a deeper look at why certain events happen.

BBC states that it delves into the “mysteries and science behind the stories that hit the headlines”.

BBC Two has previously looked at other memorable events, including “South Korea’s deadliest aviation disaster” and the three fatal shark attacks in Egypt in 2010.

Unfortunately, the “Why…?” franchise won’t be returning next Monday night as live coverage from Wimbledon will instead be shown.

It seems sensible in theory, but thousands of budget travellers won’t benefit

Earlier this month, budget airline Wizz Air told all travellers to get to the airport three hours ahead of their flight due to new border control checks that have been brought in. Managing director Yvonne Moynihan warns that holidaymakers have missed their return or connecting flights due to lengthy airport queues since the rollout of the Entry Exit System (EES).

Problems were flagged when the travel system was launched in April, but as more people pass through airports this summer for the first time since regulations changed, travellers may face hold-ups. Taking to TikTok, travel specialist Kate Donnelly (@Thedonnellyedit) argues that the latest guidance from the airline is “useless” for most people jetting off this summer.

She said: “We know when you’re travelling short haul that the general advice is to get to the airport two hours before your flight. Wizz Air is advising people to arrive three hours before their departure to beat queues and reduce the risk of missing their flight due to the EES system.

“So, while this advice appears sensible, the reality is that most check-in desks only open two hours before departure, in some cases two and a half hours,” Kate argues that only certain travellers would actually gain from turning up at the airport three hours before take-off.

Details available directly on Wizz Air’s website (as of June 7) state: “Airport check-in and baggage drop-off start two hours and close 40 minutes before departure. It’s worth noting that at some airports, the check-in desk may open or close earlier.”

Nearly all airports listed with an earlier-than-standard check-in time are international. London Luton Airport was the only UK airport with differing rules, with check-in desks that open “180 minutes (three hours) before the scheduled time of departure” for all travellers, reports the Express.

Kate also suggested that passengers travelling with hand luggage only could be among those who stand to gain the most from arriving early. Without any luggage to weigh and drop off, the whole process becomes considerably faster, and passengers “would be allowed to get straight through security and into duty-free”.

The airport itself remains one of the most significant factors that could cause delays, even for those who arrive earliest. Kate claims: “A lot of airports have more than one border control, meaning that you are still going to have to wait until the announcement is made for your gate so that you know which border control you need to go to.”

What is the general advice on when to arrive at the airport?

To avoid any issues, it is best to double-check with your specific airline about the earliest time check-in opens. Arriving as early as possible can give extra time for delays, but being ready too soon could result in pointless delays just by waiting around.

Kate said: “If you are travelling to the Schengen area this summer, two hours before your departure is enough time, based on the fact that the airport processes have not changed. Unless [airlines] decide to start opening up check-in desks earlier and announcing gates sooner, you might as well stick with the two-hour rule.”

The Schengen area is an extensive, border-free travel zone encompassing 29 European countries. It features numerous popular summer holiday destinations such as Spain, Turkey and Greece – which means many British holidaymakers will encounter EES checks.

Hold-ups are likely to come from first-time EES users who are required to scan their passport, have a photo taken, and submit a 4-fingerprint scan (children under 12 are exempt from fingerprints). This establishes a digital record valid for three years, and during new trips within that timeframe, travellers just need to scan their passport and provide one biometric identifier (photo or fingerprint).

Filming for Channel 5’s The Fortune occurred during autumn 2025 across Hartlepool, Northumberland, Newcastle and North Yorkshire.

The bulk of shooting took place in Hartlepool, with the historic Headland district serving as a crucial location.

Another significant filming venue was Hartlepool Marina, where the exterior alongside local establishments and eateries were utilised to depict Amanda’s everyday existence.

The programme’s principal production headquarters was also situated in Hartlepool at The Northern Studios on Lynn Street.

Certain scenes were additionally captured in Newcastle, with the drama produced by Newcastle-based Lonesome Pine Productions.

The cast and crew travelled to Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, where the mid-Victorian country residence Cleveland Lodge served as the Worrall family estate in the Channel 5 series.

The Grade II listed building was constructed between 1848 and 1851 and sits within approximately 35 acres of private parkland, featuring paddocks and a tennis court. Meanwhile, the more rural and coastal scenes were shot in and around the Northumberland region.

All Creatures Great and Small star Callum Woodhouse, who plays vengeful son Anthony Worrall in the series, hails originally from Stockton in the North East.

The Hartlepool Mail reported Woodhouse describing the experience of filming The Fortune as something of “a homecoming”.

He said: “Obviously, staying with my parents and filming in places I grew up visiting was a huge draw, but also being able to do something set in the modern day was really exciting.

“We were filming just over the road from where my mum works, so we’d meet up for lunch sometimes.”

The Fortune is available to watch on Channel 5.

Renfield, a movie based on characters from Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, is airing tonight and fans have praised hailed the film “funny and deliciously entertaining’

A movie perfect for fans of Dracula is heading to the small screen.

American action comedy horror film Renfield was originally released in 2023 and Film4 is showing the film at 9pm on Wednesday (May 20) evening.

Inspired by characters from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula and its 1931 feature film adaptation, the film features Nicholas Hoult as the titular character and co-stars Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Brandon Scott Jones, Adrian Martinez and Nicolas Cage.

The story follows Renfield who, after decades as a grueling servant for Dracula, seeks a new purpose in life. Viewers who have already watch the movie have offered their review online.

One fan penned: “I came for Nicolas Cage and was not disappointed. He played an amazing Dracula in the modern world.” Nicolas Cage was born to play and he appropriately chews up the scenery whenever he is on screen. This movie is a lot of fun thematically and visually.”

A third person said: “Renfield hits all the right notes. The humour is dark, witty and at times profound. The film delivers plenty of gore and bloodshed to satisfy fans of the horror genre.”

According to reports, Cage prepared for his role as Dracula by observing the distinctive ways the character was portrayed on screen by Bela Lugosi, Frank Langella, and Gary Oldman.

“What can I bring that will be different?”, he said, “I want it to pop in a unique way. We’ve seen it played well, we’ve seen it play not so well, so what can we do?

“So I’m thinking to really focus on the movement of the character … and that perfect tone of comedy and horror.”

Cage mentioned An American Werewolf in London, Ring and Malignant as inspirations for the role.

The film is Cage’s first live-action film by a major studio since Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

The film’s black-and-white opening scenes recreate the events of Dracula with Cage and Hoult respectively inserted in place of Bela Lugosi and Dwight Frye as Count Dracula and Renfield, with Helen Chandler and Edward Van Sloan appearing as Mina Seward and Abraham Van Helsing via archive footage.
