He’s right – it’s a rare feat in boyband terms to not only have all original members in the band, but for there to still be a lot of love and respect for one another.
Original British boyband Take That famously lost Robbie Williams to a solo career in the mid-90s, and currently perform as a trio after Jason Orange decided to hang up his mic in 2014.
One Direction lost Zayn Malik partway through their world-dominating success, while Westlife lost Brian McFadden after five years and Five fell apart in spectacular fashion at the peak of their fame, before all of them finally reunited for their successful 2025 arena tour.
Meanwhile Boyzone has grabbed headlines in recent years after documenting the tensions behind-the-scenes and announcing a surprise farewell gig with all four remaining members agreeing to take part.
Despite Blue going on hiatus from 2005 to 2011, they reformed as a four-piece to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest, and have remained together ever since.
Revealing the key to their success in avoiding the boyband curse, Duncan said: “I’ve had these ups and downs and different things, we’ve all had a lot of ups and downs but we’re still together.
“For me, I think it’s because we have a lot of loyalty to one another. And I think boys as well, we never really argue.
“We don’t have these bitchy squabbles about clothing or who is going to have what.
“But I think honestly, it’s probably down to the fact that I’m an only child, so I never had any brothers and sisters.
“So when I got into Blue and at the height of it all it was just crazy, we were all over the place around the world, doing songs with Elton John and all that, and I think you just become really close like brothers.”
They’re brothers that I never thought I’d ever have, and we’re family. We always say that to each other, we’re family. And I think that’s the key.
Duncan James
Duncan, who came out as gay in 2014, continued: “They were there for me through everything that I’ve been through in my life, they are literally my brothers.
“They’re brothers that I never thought I’d ever have, and we’re family. We always say that to each other, we’re family. And I think that’s the key.
“There’s been a lot of stuff that’s gone on and we’ve always stood by each other and supported each other, and that’s what families do, don’t they?”
Because of this, the lads still all share a dressing room when they go on tour, but there is one thing they refuse to do.

Duncan, who spoke to us while attending the Children with Cancer gala, said: “The only thing we don’t do is sit next to each other on an aeroplane.
“We all like a window seat and so we all want that seat, and if you don’t get a window, it’s like ‘Oh for God’s sake!’, that’s when you could have an argument!”
New album Reflections, released on January 9, and lead single One Last Time, shows a more grown-up side to the band, who are fans of bands including The Killers and Kings of Leon.
Duncan previously told The Sun: “I think all of us collectively have always loved that rock sound.
“But when you’re put into a boy band, you’re given a kind of direction to go down.”

Tehran, Iran – Iran’s currency has been registering new lows amid ongoing economic turmoil that is also reflected in a planned budget for next year that effectively shrinks public spending.
Each United States dollar was priced at about 1.36 million rials in the open market on Wednesday in Tehran, its highest rate ever, before the Iranian currency slightly regained ground on Thursday.

The embattled national currency has been rapidly declining over recent weeks as the US and its Western allies pile on their sanctions and diplomatic pressure, and the threat of another war with Israel lingers.
President Masoud Pezeshkian this week sent his administration’s finalised proposed budget to the hardline-dominated parliament for the upcoming Iranian calendar year, which starts in late March. The budget will then have to be greenlit by the 12-member Guardian Council before being ratified into law in the coming weeks.
The presented budget nominally grew by just over 5 percent compared with last year, but inflation currently stands at about 50 percent – indicating that the government envisions lower spending while managing a so-called “resistance economy” as it faces a massive budget crunch yet again.
But minimum wages are to be raised far below the inflation rate, too, at only 20 percent, meaning that Iranians are once more guaranteed to have far less spending power next year as the embattled national currency sinks.

At the same time, the budget says the government sees taxes rising by a massive 62 percent next year, as authorities try to gradually decrease dependence on oil revenues amid US efforts to drive down Iranian exports, which are carried by a shadow fleet of ships mostly to China.
At the current exchange rate, the whole budget is worth about $106bn, several times lower than the projected 2026 budgets of regional players like Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Iran’s rent-distributing multi-tier exchange rate system is still at play, with the government proposing allocating a rate for customs duties, import valuation and budget accounting tables, and another closer to the open market rate used for oil revenue realisation.
An earlier subsidised exchange rate, which was far lower than the open market rate, has now been abandoned. Any excess cash resulting from this is expected to be doled out to low-income Iranians in the form of electronic coupons that can be used to buy essential items like food.
For the first time, the budget is drafted in new rials as four zeros are expected to be removed from the ailing national currency by the time the budget is operational for next year.
After years of back and forth, the parliament in October approved the government plan to lop off four zeros. The move is only cosmetic and will not help with the runaway inflation, but proponents argued it was necessary after years of currency devaluation.
Budget spells grim outlook
Several major factors have already been raising alarm over how bad the economic situation could become next year.
Iranians online reacted poorly to the fact that the government predicts wages will be far outpaced by inflation and tax collection. Others were concerned that eliminating the subsidised rate for essential goods could cause another price shock in the short term.
Many shared a video of Pezeshkian from last year running for president, when he said during a televised interview that the stark disparity between wage increases and inflation is a “grave injustice” being done to the Iranian people.
“Unfortunately, so long as we do not resolve the structural issues, we are making labourers and government workers poorer by the day while those with money get bigger and bigger,” Pezeshkian said at the time.
“This inflation is an additional tax on the poor and the disenfranchised.”

But successive governments have failed to eliminate budget deficits or rein in banks teetering on the brink of insolvency, therefore relying on the central bank to print more money to run the country and, in turn, exacerbate inflation.
Earlier in December, the government proceeded with increasing the price cap of petroleum despite repeated assurances it had no plans to that effect this year. The move has already led to increased transport costs, which will end up taking inflation higher.
There are now four price tiers for petroleum, with the cheapest and lowest quality that is available to most Iranians costing up to 50,000 rials per litre (about $1.19) and higher quality imported fuel delivered this week at 800,000 rials per litre ($19).
Hamid Pourmohammadi, who heads the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran, insisted that the government has devised a 20-point plan to be unveiled soon that will reduce pressure on the livelihoods of Iran’s 90 million population.
“The government is trying to adopt an active approach to address the economic challenges of the people, businesses and economists, so there is no perception of complacency in these economic conditions,” he said.
The Holiday is one of the most well-loved Christmas films among Brits. But many fans might not know that one of the film’s most iconic scenes was improvised by cameo star

People have been left baffled after learning that one of the most iconic scenes in festive classic The Holiday was improvised by a movie star in an impromptu cameo performance. For many, Christmas time means watching as many festive films as you can before the year comes to an end, and The Holiday is often cited as one of the best.
This 2006 romantic Christmas comedy stars Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black. The plot revolves around two women, played by Diaz and Winslet, who decide to swap homes for the holidays, crossing continents to escape their relationship woes. However they might not be as unlucky in love as they thought.
The film boasts picturesque country houses, an incredible play tent, plenty of festive cheer, and even cameo appearances from the likes of Dustin Hoffman, star of a plethora of screen gems, including 1967’s The Graduate. However, many fans have been left baffled to learn his surprise appearance wasn’t planned.
In an interview with NBC News, the film’s director, Nancy Meyers, revealed Hoffman’s cameo in the film had come up by accident after the actor walked onto set to say hello to her.
“Dustin was eating at a restaurant next door,” Nancy explained, saying he’d spotted all of the accompanying trailers and trucks outside. “And someone said they’re shooting in the Blockbuster.”
Dustin was told that the film was directed by Nancy, and since their daughters, who were in Middle School at the time, are best friends, decided to walk onto set to say hi. She then recalled Dustin sitting with her for an hour, just watching the shooting and having fun.
The scene they were filming took place inside the Blockbuster film store and sees Black’s character perform a number of iconic scores from different movies to Winslet’s character. “Well, it wasn’t an hour, but it was a long time, when I thought ‘what is wrong with me?” Nancy recalled, saying she invited the star to join the scene.
She said: “We’re talking about The Graduate, do you just want to be in the scene and we’ll just cut you, and you can just, whatever. And he went ‘alright’.”
Nancy went on to explain that she sent Dustin straight into the scene in the clothes he’d worn for this lunch earlier. They also didn’t do his hair or put any makeup on him.
“And he went over there, I had them do The Graduate thing, and he just said ‘can’t go anywhere’, and it was just great,” Nancy explained.

Several people quickly took to the comment section to share their bafflement, as many thought the cameo made the film even better.
“LOVE THIS!!!! Wow what a fun story,” one person said, while someone else wrote: “I love to see Dustin in that scene! It made it look even more realistic.”
A third user said: “One of my all time favourite movies, and yes, he added so much fun to it, seems like a great guy.”
Someone else shared: “I love this story! I walked by the Blockbuster as they were filming this that night in Brentwood! Dustin must’ve been dining at Pizzicotto, next door.”

A FORMER Nickelodeon child star has laid bare his life on the streets, revealing a staggering list of drugs he says he is taking even as his mother urges fans not to help him financially.
Tylor Chase, 36, once a fresh-faced teen actor on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, is now roaming the streets of Riverside, California, picking up cigarette butts and discarded Christmas cards.

When reporters found Chase behind a 7-Eleven on Monday, he was digging in the dirt, dressed in a torn jacket, a scruffy LA Raiders polo and pants patched with characters from Rugrats.
His hands were cut and blistered, dirt packed under his fingernails.
Offered food, Chase instead asked for marijuana.
“I could use maybe a joint or a bong. Do you guys smoke weed?” he told the Daily Mail.
He also revealed the list of drugs he says he is taking while living on the streets.
“I like to vape,” Chase said, adding that he takes “Prozac, Adderall, Sudafed, Wellbutrin or also Zoloft,” which he claimed were prescribed by a psychiatrist, though he denied having any diagnosed mental health conditions.
Chase rose to fame at 15 playing brainy Martin Qwerly on the Nickelodeon hit from 2004 to 2007.
After the show wrapped, his acting career fizzled and his life slowly unraveled.
In 2014, he posted bleak poetry online hinting at his mental state.
In one poem titled Bipolar, he wrote: “I’m a leaf in a running gutter with the inevitable fate of ending up in a drain… Perhaps I am doomed. Perhaps I have done nothing. Perhaps I am nothing.”
The former actor eventually moved to Riverside “about seven to nine years” ago, where his mother lives.
He tried to pursue art, self-publishing two fantasy novels in 2020 and continuing to post poetry online until 2021.
But Chase also began spending more time on the streets and racked up a long rap sheet.
Riverside County court records show 12 criminal cases since August 2023, including eight this year.
His most recent arrests involve alleged shoplifting and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Both cases are ongoing.
Riverside Police say Chase is not wanted for any crimes.
Police spokesman Ryan Railsback told the Mail that during all interactions with cops, Chase “has been cordial and cooperative”.
He added that officers offer him shelter, treatment and mental health services weekly, all of which he has declined.

Despite his appearance, Chase insisted he is not homeless.
“I stay around here locally. My mom is here,” he said.
“I have a lot of good people helping me.
“It’s not too shabby. A lot of people help out. It goes a long way.”
Chase said he may move back to Georgia to live with his father and enter a housing assistance programme.
“I’m not really active homeless at this time,” he said.
“I’m thinking that I would like to go see my dad… Probably a housing assistance program in Georgia most likely.”
After videos of Chase looking unrecognisable went viral, a GoFundMe raised more than $1,200.
But his mother, Paula Moisio, demanded it be taken down.
“Tylor needs medical attention not money. But he refuses it,” she wrote in messages shared online.
“Money would not be a benefit to him. He can’t manage money for his meds by himself.”

Former Nebraska U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse, a conservative who rebuked political tribalism and stood out as a longtime critic of President Trump, announced Tuesday he was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer.
Sasse, 53, made the announcement on social media, saying he learned of the disease last week and is “now marching to the beat of a faster drummer.”
“This is a tough note to write, but since a bunch of you have started to suspect something, I’ll cut to the chase,” Sasse wrote. “Last week I was diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, and am gonna die.”
Sasse was first elected to the Senate in 2014. He comfortably won reelection in 2020 after fending off a pro-Trump primary challenger. Sasse drew the ire of GOP activists for his vocal criticism of Trump’s character and policies, including questioning his moral values and saying he cozied up to adversarial foreign leaders.
Sasse was one of seven Republican senators to vote to convict the former president of “ incitement of insurrection ” after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. After threats of a public censure back home, he extended his critique to party loyalists who blindly worship one man and rejected him for his refusal to bend the knee.
He resigned from the Senate in 2023 to serve as the 13th president of the University of Florida after a contentious approval process. He left that post the following year after his wife was diagnosed with epilepsy.
Sasse, who has degrees from Harvard, St. John’s College and Yale, worked as an assistant secretary of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush. He served as president of Midland University, a small Christian university in eastern Nebraska, before he ran for the Senate.
Sasse and his wife have three children.
“I’m not going down without a fight. One sub-part of God’s grace is found in the jawdropping advances science has made the past few years in immunotherapy and more,” Sasse wrote. “Death and dying aren’t the same — the process of dying is still something to be lived.”

And despite the show being a massive hit, Princess says her famous parents weren’t sitting down on the couch to give it a watch.
She told The Sun: “I actually don’t think either of my parents have watched the show.”
“I don’t think it’s my dad’s thing, it’s more, it’s a show for people my age to watch, I think,” explained Princess, who was speaking at the launch of 3D Refirm x Facebible in Windsor.
Exes Katie and Peter share Princess and her older brother Junior, 20. While Peter is also a dad to Theo, Amelia and Arabella, and Katie to Harvey, Jett and Bunny.
“I’ve finished for season two and then I’ve got season three to film. So, I’m really excited. I think people are going to love it,” she said.
A date for the show’s release has not yet been confirmed, with Princess simply telling fans last year: “See you in 2026”.
In a break from filming, Princess was speaking at The Fairmont in Windsor, where Dr Raj Arora was launching 3D refirm – non-surgical skin tightening procedures – at her clinic, Facebible.
The doctor is a close friend of Princess’s dad and stepmum, Emily Macdonagh, who were also in attendance at the event.

Barry Manilow has been diagnosed with lung cancer and will be postponing his January concerts.
“I’m very sorry that you have to change your plans,” the “Mandy” singer wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Monday revealing his diagnosis. According to Manilow, his doctors had discovered “a cancerous spot” on his left lung that he will have surgically removed.
“As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” Manilow wrote in the statement. “Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.”
The “Copacabana (At the Copa)” singer said it was “pure luck” that the cancer was found early and that his doctors “do not believe it has spread.” He added that he is taking additional tests to confirm that diagnosis.
“[N]ow that the Christmas A Gift of Love concerts are over I’m going into surgery to have the spot removed,” Manilow continued in his statement. “So that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
The January arena concerts have been rescheduled because recovery from the surgery will take a month, said the 82-year-old singer, whose hits also include “Could It Be Magic,” “I Write the Songs” and “Weekend in New England.” The new dates, starting in late February and continuing through April, were included in the Instagram post. Ticketholders for the canceled shows will be able to reschedule to the new dates.
Manilow also noted his next scheduled performances will be over Valentine’s Day weekend back at the Westgate Las Vegas, where he has a lifetime residency.
“Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party,” Manilow wrote, before wishing his fans “a wonderful Christmas and New Year.” “And remember, if you even have the slightest symptom… get tested!”

Lily Allen has made a shock confession that she’s now in therapy for her addiction to spendingShe admitted that she can’t stop shopping after purchasing designer handbags and an £120,000 PorscheLily opened up on her podcast Miss Me ? alongside co-host Miquita Oliver for a Christmas special episode
Following the success of her latest album, West End Girl, the singer has revealed that she has put herself into therapy over the last four months to cope with her spending habits.
Speaking on her podcast Miss Me? alongside co-host Miquita Oliver for a Christmas special episode, Lily opened up about EMDR therapy.
She said: “I actually did EMDR therapy yesterday on my spending and how it’s related to my sense of self-worth and we tried to separate the two. So let’s see how that goes.”
Lily admitted: “I think I try and get rid of it (money) because I don’t think I deserve it.”
Lily replied: “EMDR therapy is a special type of therapy. There’s like, what do you call it? Like stimuli that stimulate the left side and the right side of your brain and basically try and create new pathways in relation to certain behaviours or traumatic experiences or traumatic interactions with certain human beings or anything really.
“I started doing EMDR about four months ago, five months ago and it’s like been life changing. I just absolutely love it.
“I am not a doctor and I am not qualified to give that kind of advice but this is what is working for me currently,” she added.
Speaking about how the therapy works for her own addiction, Lily continued: “You usually start by sort of deciding on which area you’re gonna focus on during that session and then you visualise the experience.
“If you’re trying to change your attitude towards a traumatic event, you try and think about how painful that event is from one to 10 and then you activate the stimuli, which in my case is these two vibrating balls that I put in each hand and you sort of close your eyes and put yourself in that situation and then try and identify what the feelings are that are coming up actually in your body, and in your mind.
“And then you do that sort of five or six times and you find that the pain level associated with it goes down and down and down.
“If you’re trying to get rid of a negative behaviour like spending or drug taking or drinking or addiction to sex or whatever it is, you do the opposite.
“In my case a handbag, you try and separate yourself from thinking this handbag is going to make me a better person. Its really interesting type of therapy and I’m not clear on the science of how it works but its working for me so I’m very happy about it.”
Earlier in the episode Lily revealed she had bought herself “a little present”.
She said: “I’m just playing with my huge diamond and emerald ring, I bought myself a little present but it’s not that little.”
And earlier this week the star was snapped getting out of her new £120,000 porsche and £16,500 Hermes handbag in London.
Lily’s shopping revelation comes during a significant year for the star, who has launched new music widely described as a “revenge” album following her split from husband David Harbour.
The record, West End Girl, draws on heartbreak and betrayal after Lily publicly accused the actor of cheating.
Fans have praised the record for its raw honesty and cutting lyrics.
Singer Lily split from Stranger Things actor David, 50, in December 2024 and it was later reported that he’d had a three-year affair.
The details of her open marriage and split were laid bare on her 14-track West End Girl album.
She came forward recently with a statement to categorically deny having a three-year affair with the actor.

Cruz, 20, today addressed the unfollowing drama and hit back in a post on his Instagram Story.
He revealed that Brooklyn, 26, removed the entire family – including 14-year-old Harper – from his social media.
The musician confirmed his parents woke up to being banned from seeing Brooklyn’s profile, and said: “My mum and dad would never unfollow their son.
Brooklyn’s wife Nicola is also not following any of the Beckham family on Instagram – weeks after the couple were absent from David’s long-awaited knighthood celebrations.
Meanwhile David and Victoria were not present for Brooklyn and Nicola’s New York wedding vow renewal in August.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2022, were last pictured with David and Victoria last Christmas.
Victoria shared a snap on Instagram on Boxing Day alongside David with her three sons, daughter Harper and Nicola.
She wrote: “Being together for the holidays makes me so happy. I love you all so much.”
The Sun told this week how Victoria is determined not to let the fallout with Brooklyn and Nicola ruin their Christmas.
Referring to how close Brooklyn was to his grandparents, a source told The Sun: “Brooklyn spent so much time with her parents Jackie and Tony for the first few years of his life.
“They had such a special bond, while Sandra (David’s mum) looked after him so much growing up.
“Harper really misses her big brother and Nicola.
“Victoria is hoping that Brooklyn at least calls his grandparents over Christmas.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, David, 50 shared a photo of himself, wife Victoria, 51, and children Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20 and Harper, 14, celebrating his MLS title in Miami.
However, what was poignant in the post was that he also shared a throwback snap of himself with Brooklyn, 25, and his brothers after winning the same cup as a player with LA Galaxy in 2011 and 2012.
He captioned the snaps with: “License to cry.”
The sweet post could be seen as David’s olive branch to his son, as we approach Christmas.
TELLING SWIPE
It comes as Victoria recently revealed it takes a lot for her not to get on with another woman.
She said in an interview on Andy Cohen‘s Sirius XM’s radio show: “I’m a girl’s girl. I mean you’ve got to be a real ae for me to not get on with you if you’re a woman.”
The fashion mogul continued: “Because I love, I love women, you know, and that’s part of the reason why I do what I do with fashion and beauty.
“I want to empower women. Yes. And I want to share my tips and tricks with women.”
Things took a turn in the family feud earlier this year when Brooklyn and Nicola organised a wedding vow renewal in the summer but none of the Beckhams were invited to the lavish ceremony.

He said: “My sister, Ada, was my hero. She faced down cancer with courage and humor.
“I’ve never met anyone so brave. Amal and I will miss her terribly.”
Ada’s official biography says she died “peacefully” while “surrounded by the people she loved” at St Elizabeth healthcare in Kentucky.
She was born on May 2 1960 in Los Angeles to mum and dad Nina and Nick, and was described as a “talented artist”.
She was named after her great-grandmother.

“In high school, her academic achievements qualified her to be a National Merit Scholar.
“Her love for reading connected her with other readers in a local book club.
“She was also a member of the Augusta Art Guild and was a past grand marshal of Augusta’s Annual White Christmas Parade.”
Ada married Norman Zeidler, a retired army captain, in Augusta in 1987.

She was heard speaking on TheNew York Times‘Modern Lovepodcast in which she detailed falling pregnant after playing the role of a grieving mother for the movie.
Jessie said: “I’m not surprised I got pregnant a week after I finished filming because I had coaxed… it was also quite intense to have that need while I was in this place of absolute mother and it not be a real thing yet.”
During the interview, she revealed she had welcomed a daughter when she opened up on what she hoped to pass onto her in the future.
Jessie added: “I think the thing I can hope to impart to her, and I’m sure she’s going to go on her whole own trajectory, and she should, is we have one life.
“There’s always going to be things in our life that are going to make us doubt or be afraid or feel like it would be safer to be smaller in some way.
“And I see this little life that’s so new but so full and so untarnished by an idea or a projection of what we’re supposed to be. And I just hope that if I can pass anything onto her in the way that my mother’s has passed on to me is that all the parts of you are not too much.
“The world needs all of you, and that means incubating the struggles, is like living through the struggles, the shadows.
“The things that are going to challenge you, you have to metabolize it and incubate it. And there’s no too-muchness. It’s only to be lived fully.”
Jessie is notoriously private about her personal life and rarely discusses her life outside of acting.
She is understood to have got married in 2022 to a mystery man known only as Freddie.
According to reports he is a North London based mental health professional.
They are understood to divide their time equally between plush homes in London and Norfolk.

In order to speed up flights and improve punctuality, it will install AI-powered turnaround tech.
This will involve a network of cameras being installed across Heathrow.
Using AI to analyse data, the airport will speed up turnaround times between flights, which will make journeys more punctual.
Coverage is expected to be across all terminals by the end of 2026.
Other upgrades will be to accessibility, which will have dedicated access to security for the first time.
Alongside new mobility equipment, Heathrow is investing in upgrades to assistance areas across the airport.

There will be a purpose-built assistance area and the UK’s first Tailored Travel Guide.
Passengers with various access needs can input their travel details and get a personalised step-by-step guide to navigate the airport.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye said: “Passengers should expect that every time they travel through Heathrow their journey is better than the last.”
He added: “I’m excited to unveil next year’s programme which will make Heathrow more user-friendly, more efficient and more resilient for our customers.
“This investment will flow directly into our nationwide supply chain helping to drive economic growth whilst we make Heathrow even better and more efficient for our customers.”
The upgrades made in December 2025 are part of Heathrow’s current five-year investment plan.

In 2024, the airport saw almost 30million passengers, but with the new plans could see 20million more.
The airport in question is London Stansted in Essex which has plans for more flights, but no structural changes.
London Stansted could rise to become the UK’s second busiest airport, rather than the fourth, after councillors agreed to increase its annual passenger numbers to 51million.
The owner, Manchester Airports Group’s, latest plan is to increase passenger capacity at the airport to between 48 and 51million people per year by 2040.
In comparison, London Gatwick sees between 40 to 43million passengers each year.
While you might think that the airport would need an additional runway, there are no plans to build one.
There won’t be a second runway, or exceed the airport’s limit of 274,000 flights a year.
The way it will increase its passengers is by accommodating larger planes.
On December 17, 2025, Uttlesford District Council’s Planning Committee ruled in favour of the application.

Rita Simons has admitted she would happily sit down with EastEnders bosses to discuss a return even though her soap character was killed off almost a decade ago
Rita Simons has admitted that she would consider a return to EastEnders(Image: Getty Images)
Rita Simons has admitted that she would consider a return to EastEnders. The actress, 48, became an instant fan-favourite on the BBC soap when she arrived to play Roxy Mitchell in 2007, turning up alongside Samatha Womack as her on-screen sister Ronnie.
The pair were involved in multiple dramas over their decade-long stay in Albert Square, but it all came to a fatal head on New Year’s Day 2007 when Roxy drunkenly jumped into a swimming pool, and Ronnie jumped in to save her, only to be weighed down by her wedding dress as they both drowned.
Despite being killed off, there have been rumours of a return in one way or another, and Rita initially made a brief reappearance as Roxy in the form of a hallucination in 2023, where she comforted her on-screen daughter Amy. But almost a decade since being axed, Rita, who recently enjoyed a stint in Hollyoaks as Marie Fielding, has admitted she is always asked about a comeback and would happily discuss the idea with soap bosses.
She said: “It just doesn’t, it doesn’t stop! Someone, I won’t name them, said to me the other day ‘the resilience of your fans is impressive. And it is. Listen, if it was a meeting, we’d be there. But no, I’ve been having lots of very sort of, I’m looking at the gritty dramas, the comedies, the gangster stuff.
“Of course, if EastEnders came knocking, we’d definitely have a conversation.” After leaving EastEnders, Rita starred in a UK tour of the musical Legally Blonde and then competed in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
Speaking to The Sun, she added: “I think that’s kind of another reason I knew it was time to leave Hollyoaks because I knew that I always wanted to do more drama. And I think it’s easier to transcend when you don’t hang around too long,” before noting that she’d “hung around long enough” in the BBC soap that a comeback might be possible.
Rita’s on-screen sibling Samantha has also enjoyed a successful career on screen and stage since leaving EastEnders, and recently admitted during an appearance on Loose Women that she had been through “all sorts” personally amid her time on the soap and was “terrified” at the thought off leaving, but it altered her outlook on life, especially after facing a battle with cancer.
She said: “When you’re in a place for nine years and you’re playing that character every day, and you’re embedded in that family structure, so you believe that the people who are your sisters, brothers, uncles, cousins, whatever, then you believe that they really are because you see them every day.
“You go through all sorts of emotional things together, the birth of your children, funerals, and this is with the crew as well. You get to know such this wonderful group of people for such a long time and then Ronnie drowned in a pool.
“I thought it was shot beautifully. In retrospect, it’s very easy to hold onto safety, isn’t it? Particularly in our game, being self-employed is terrifying. I don’t know if it was a favour [killing me off], but my whole outlook on life has changed.”
“I got diagnosed with breast cancer and survived it for no,w but the beauty of everything that happens to you, the ups, the downs, is the beautiful chaos of it all and what you’d miss if you weren’t here.”
Earlier this year, the former Mount Pleasant star admitted that she started saying no to a lot of opportunities after her treatment, but knew she needed to do something to get back to earning a sustainable income. She told The Mirror: “After my year-and-a-half of treatment, I started turning down a lot of stuff – and I didn’t have the bank balance to match that confidence, trust me.
“It was me saying the word ‘no’ and my bank account creaking. But there was empowerment in that because I thought, ‘OK, I need to go through this, spend time with myself and figure out stuff that I’ve never figured out – maybe stuff I’ve buried under a rug.’”

The model shared photos capturing the moments after the little one’s arrival, including the pair bonding with the newborn.
She announced in her caption that they welcomed their daughter, named Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, on December 12th.
“My best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief. – elsie
“Wu tang forever. – pete,” Elsie added in her caption.
The baby’s name is a sweet nod to Pete’s New York City firefighter father, Scott Davidson, who died on September 11, 2001.
Fans took to the comments to congratulate the new parents and gush over her family moniker.
Elsie, 29, revealed her pregnancy in July with a funny Instagram post featuring ultrasound photos.
She humorously wrote in her caption, “Welp now everyone knows we had sex.”
An insider previously told The U.S. Sun that Elsie and Pete, 32, hoped to one day have a family together, and that the supermodel envisioned a life with the Saturday Night Live alum.
Pete had been vocal about wanting to become a father sooner rather than later, although he sympathized with his girlfriend for going through her pregnancy in the public eye.
During an August appearance on The Breakfast Club, the comic admitted that he “felt bad” for Elsie, who had to deal with many things in the limelight because of their relationship.
Pete has had a spotlight on his personal life since his string of high-profile romances.
They included a brief engagement to Ariana Grandein 2018, and a months-long relationship with Kim Kardashian, following her messy split from her ex-husband, Kanye West.
Pete has also made headlines for his impulsive purchase of a massive Staten Island Ferry with his former SNL co-star, Colin Jost.
The duo has faced numerous delays in their renovation plans since buying the ferry four years ago.
The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed in October that the $280,000 vessel is currently sitting decrepit and abandoned in a New York City harbor, and that both Pete and Colin have expressed regrets over the extravagant purchase.

She told Time France magazine: “I share these scars with many women I love. And I’m always moved when I see others share theirs.”
Posing on the cover of the December issue in a low-cut jumper, with her hand covering her chest, the mum of six said she hoped the move would help raise awareness of the disease.
The star had both breasts removed and reconstructive surgery in 2013 after finding out she has the BRCA1 gene mutation, which meant her chances of getting cancer were high.
Following her double mastectomy, Lara Croft star Jolie also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed as a preventive measure.
Katherine Ryan says she has undergone “serious cosmetic surgery” just eight weeks after giving birthCredit: GettyThe comedian welcomed daughter Holland in October, and says she brought the newborn along for the surgery last weekCredit: Instagram
And Katherine, 42, says that the little one came along to the surgery, which took place in York – hours away from their London home.
Talking on her podcast, Telling Everybody Everything, Katherine said she is in “no pain” following the procedure.
Katherine explained: “I went to York, it was three and a half hours, I elected to take the baby with me because she just turned eight weeks that day and I’m still breastfeeding her, obviously, I will be for a long time.
“You can’t breastfeed immediately after surgery but I could obviously spend the night with her before and breastfeed her then.
“I was thinking to myself, after I got this surgery – which, wait until you see it, is pretty serious surgery – I was like, ‘Katherine Ryan what is your damage? What the f*** are you doing? Why have you brought a baby to surgery.’
“But then i thought, up and down this country, worldwide, everyday, we are giving women C-sections and then saying, ‘Sweet, go keep these twins alive’.”
Katherine clarified that a C section is “much more serious” than the procedure she had.
She joked: “So, what’s an elective cosmetic procedure with a newborn?”
Continuing that she is in “no pain”, Katherine said that while she’d like to share what procedure she has had done, it’s under wraps.
The comedian was joined by a filming crew who captured the whole thing for an upcoming docuseries.
She says there is more information coming soon on the show.
The comedian is also a mum to 15-year-old Violet, who she has from a previous relationship.

A HUGE airport that is set to become a central hub in Poland in the next six years has been renamed.
Work is still yet to begin on the major airport that was originally called Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, or CPK.

Last week, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the previous name for the country’s upcoming airport, Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, will no longer be used.
He said: “We won’t be using a name that our predecessors discredited,” adding that the planned new airport is intended to serve as “the largest hub in this part of Europe.”
Instead, the airport will be referred to and renamed as Port Polska.
Mr Tusk added: “Everyone who lands there, everyone who uses this airport, everyone who shops there should know: yes—this is the heart of Europe, yes—this is Port Polska.”
The Polish government estimates put the total cost of the Port Polska project, including the airport and associated rail links, at around PLN 131 billion (£27billion).
The enormous hub will be built in Baranów which is about 25 miles from Warsaw where the current biggest airport in the country is; Warsaw Chopin Airport.
The 450,000sqm airport will have just two runways at first – a third will open by 2045, with plans for long-haul flights.
Inside, the passenger terminal will operate across three levels. On level two will be ticket and baggage check-in, security control, arrivals and departures for the Schengen zone.

Level one will be home to most of the arrivals and departures for the Non-Schengen zone, transfer centres, and passport control.
Level zero will have coach gates for both Schengen and non-Schengen zones, baggage reclaim and an arrivals hall.
It expects to welcome around 34million passengers in its first year, but will grow to as many as 60million.
Building work is set to startnextyear, and the airport has been designed by Foster + Partners – behindLondon‘s the Gherkin and the BatterseaRoof Gardens.
The new airport will be three times bigger than the one currently in WarsawCredit: CPK/Foster+Partners
The huge airport will have other transport links too like an underground train network which will connect it to Warsaw and Lodz.
Holidaymakers in Warsaw will be able to get to the airport in just 20 minutes by train – the airport will also open a bus station for travellers.
Once open, Port Polska will take on some of the world’s biggest transport hubs like London Heathrow which welcomed a record 83.9 million passengers in 2024.
The 22sqm airport will feature six runways – up from two – parallel to each other and will be built around the existing King Khalid International Airport.
It will approximately be the same size as Manhattan in New York – or twice the size of the city of Bath, in the UK.
And now the airport has moved into its construction phase. The airport will be designed by Foster + Partners, a UK firm which is behind London‘s famous Gherkin.
Inside, travellers will be able to explore 4.6sqm of shops. A lot of features in the airport are set to include high tech, such as climate-controlled lighted.
Travellers will have plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor spaces with greenery and vast glass windows, ideal for a bit of plane spotting.
Foster + Partner’s is also developing the Wadi Loop, which will connect the airport to other developments allowing travellers to access different sites more easily.
It will eventually accommodate up to 120million passengers each year, which is then expected to rise to 185million by 2050.
And the number of aircraft takeoffs will rise from 211,000 per year to over one million.
In total, the project is estimated to cost around $30billion (£22.5billion).

Tracy, who was adopted by Rob during his marriage to Penny Marshall, said she was left speechless.
The actress said: “I came from the greatest family ever.
“I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
She added that she had seen her late dad at a family gathering just one day before horror knife attack.
The iconic director was married to Marshall from 1971 to 1981, during which time he adopted Tracy.
Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found dead by their other daughter Romy, 28, with their throats slit at their sprawling $13.5million Brentwood mansion on Sunday afternoon.
The Hollywood icon’s youngest son Nick has been charged with murder in connection with the grisly killing.
A source revealed to The U.S. Sun that Rob and Michele got into a heated public argument with Nick at a Hanukkah party on Saturday evening.
The party was hosted by Conan O’Brien, according to TMZ.
Nick, 32, was booked into a Los Angeles jail on Monday morning, according to online records viewed by The U.S. Sun.
He has since been charged with murder and is being held at Parker Center Jail on $4 million bail, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell announced during a press conference on Monday.
Nick, who reportedly lives in the Los Angeles area, is rarely seen in public since he opened up about his struggles with drug addiction in 2016.
He admitted to first going to rehab at the age of 25 and said his addiction issues even led him to being homeless at one point in his life, according to People.
“When I was out there, I could’ve died. It’s all luck. You roll the dice and you hope you make it,” Nick said.
In 2015, Nick and his father worked on the semi-autobiographical film, Hey Charlie, which centered around the entitled, drug-addicted son of a renowned actor turned political candidate in California.

Rob told the Los Angeles Times at the time that he had to push past trauma and tough memories during filming.
“It was very, very hard going through it the first time, with these painful and difficult highs and lows,” the beloved director told the outlet then.
“And then making the movie dredged it all up again.”
Fellow Hollywood stars paid tribute to both Rob and Michele.
Ex-Monty Python member Eric Idle said he had spoken to Rob the night before his death.
Paying his respects, he said: “Rob Reiner was a lovely man. I spoke to him last night for over an hour. I always enjoyed his company.
“I met him at his Dad’s in 1975. He was telling me about filming at Stonehenge and his thoughts for the future … I shall miss him.
“A clever, talented and very thoughtful man. So awful.”
Ben Stiller said Rob was one of his favourite directors, and called him “a kind caring person who was really really funny”.
Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf in Frozen, described Rob and his wife’s deaths as a “devastating” loss.
Actor John Cusack, who starred in Rob’s 1985 film The Sure Thing, said he “saw the soul in others”.
