The M&S raincoat trending right now – shoppers say it ‘feels like Burberry’ and is ‘perfect for autumn’

AUTUMN weather can be challenging to dress for, but M&S just restocked a fashion bestseller for beating the showers.

Shoppers have been raving about the stylish outerwear, comparing it to Burberry’s £1,300 designer parka jacket.

Woman wearing a navy trench coat, denim shirt, jeans, and sneakers.
The stylish raincoat comes in two colours

M&S’ Stormwear Car Coat, £65

M&S’ Stormwear Car Coat has a water-resistant design for protection against the elements, along with practical internal and external pockets.

It features a structured collar and relaxed raglan sleeves that give an effortlessly put-together feel, finished with tortoiseshell buttons.

It bares a resemblance to the iconic Burberry Parka Jacket, but for a fraction of the price.

The £59 high-street buy comes in navy and cream colours, but stock is selling seriously fast.

Launching on the Marks & Spencer website earlier this year, the coat has been constantly selling out.

The navy version is finally fully stocked, while the cream colourway is available in select sizes.

Finding a raincoat that actually looks stylish can sometimes feel impossible, but M&S has nailed it with its lightweight but practical staple.

Woman wearing a cream raincoat, white t-shirt, blue wide-leg jeans, black belt, and brown handbag.
The cream version is selling out fast

M&S’ Stormwear Car Coat, £65

The fashion find could be thrown on with everything from jeans and heeled boots to leggings and trainers for dog walks.

It has a sophisticated design that could also be worn for formal occasions, including wide-leg trousers and loafers for days in the office.

Lighter jackets are perfect for this time of year, as they offer an extra layer that’s still lightweight enough to feel comfortable in.

M&S has been dropping plenty of viral hit after hit lately, including its Checked Collared Short Jacket, which is currently marked as the top bestseller.

Several TikTok users have been showing off the stylish number, and the stock appears to be flying off the shelves.

As for the popular Stormwear Car Coat, over 1,000 shoppers have given it a five-star rating.

One reviewer wrote: “Smart, stylish raincoat that’s lightweight and easy to wear.

Woman wearing a black and white cropped jacket over a white blouse and dark jeans.
Marks & Spencer’s cropped checked jacket has gone viral

M&S Checked Collared Jacket, £60

It’s loose enough to go over a jumper, or you could size down for a fitted look.

I love the pockets, buttons and back slit, and it’s great value.”

Another added: “Such a great price for this coat, it’s very smart and the material is of good quality.

I have gone down a size based on what people have stated in previous reviews and it’s true, you need to size down for a perfect fit.

I wear it to work and it’s perfect for this weather.”

While I’m yet to try the high-street raincoat for myself, I did put M&S’ viral trench coat to the test — and I can confirm its also a winner for autumn (if you can fight to get your hands on the remaining stock).

I tried Uniqlo’s £20 linen trousers — they’re flattering on everyone and my new office staple

UNIQLO is home to multiple viral fashion pieces, and for good reason.

The retailer nails the balance between comfort and style, stocking everyday staples that get more than their money’s worth of wear.

Uniqlo’s viral crossbody bag was quite literally everywhere when it was released, and the retailer’s linen blend trousers are yet another trending gem.

I tried the Uniqlo Linen Blend Trousers for myself, and I can confirm they nailed the brief.

Uniqlo Linen Blend Trousers: Quickfire Q&A

How much is it? The linen trousers cost £19.90 on the Uniqlo website.

Who’s it best for? Anyone hunting for a staple pair of comfy trousers they can wear every day.

What we loved: The high-quality design, the flattering fit and how comfortable they are.

What we didn’t love: They become quite creased, so they will likely need ironing after every wash.

  • Uniqlo Linen Blend Easy Trousers, £19.90 – buy here

The £20 buy features a relaxed silhouette, straight leg, drawstring waist and of course, pockets.

Capsule trousers are a must for any wardrobe — I’m talking a pair that can be worn every season and thrown on with just about any other item.

I hate feeling restricted in my office outfits, so the stretchy drawstring waist is ideal for keeping comfortable all day.

Linen is a popular choice for the warmer weather, but the lightweight material is also great for the transitional seasons (I’ll be wearing the trending brown shade throughout the autumn).

The trousers come in eight colours, ranging from neutral beiges and blacks to orange and green tones.

The Uniqlo trousers are my new office staple

Uniqlo Linen Blend Easy Trousers, £19.90

While the silhouette is relaxed, the drawstring waist can be pulled tighter for a cinched fit.

As the trousers are so versatile, they’re going to be flattering on every body type.

My favourite feature? The quality.

The linen blend fabric feels airy while still being thick, so there’s no risk of them being see-through (although I can’t speak for the lighter colours).

If I tried these on blind, I would assume they costed a lot more than £20.

They’re incredibly comfortable, but unlike sweatpants or leggings, they also make me feel put-together and stylish.

Uniqlo also offers alterations on certain items.

Shoppers can choose to adjust the inseam length of the trousers for free, which is great for those who can never quite find the perfect length.

I’ve been wearing the versatile trousers with T-shirts and cardigans during working from home days, and I also dressed it up slightly by opting for a boat neck top.

I could see the affordable fashion find looking great with an off-shoulder top, heeled boots and chunky jewellery for an elevated evening look.

Woman in brown linen top and trousers.
The high-street trousers come in eight colours

Uniqlo Linen Blend Easy Trousers, £19.90

The easy-to-wear trousers will get more of their fair share of use, and for less than £20, they’re a bargain.

Shoppers agree, as the Uniqlo staple has received a 4.7-out-of-5 star rating online.

One fashion fan wrote: “These trousers are honestly some of the most comfortable I own.

I can move around in them easily and without restriction — 10/10, would highly recommend.”

Another added: “Uniqlo’s linen blend trousers are a stylish, affordable, and practical addition to a wardrobe.

The fabric blend keeps them breathable yet less prone to heavy crinkles, so they’re travel-ready with a comfortable waist.”

The verdict: are the Uniqlo trousers worth it?

These high-street trousers are my new go-to for everyday wear, and absolutely worth the £20 price tag.

Not only are they super comfortable, but I feel put-together whenever I wear them.

I love that they’re versatile enough to style for every season, and I’m going to get myself another one of the eight colours.

When is Black Friday 2025?

When is Black Friday? This year, it lands on 28 November 2025.

The mega-sale traditionally takes place the day after the US Thanksgiving (which falls on the last Thursday of November), and it has become a global shopping event known for its dramatic discounts.

Black Friday has become just as popular in the UK as in the US in recent years, and brands and retailers often kick off their sales ahead of the main event.

UK shoppers can expect many retailers — both online and in-store — to launch their Black Friday deals early, with some sales kicking off from the beginning of November.

Mulberry has participated in Black Friday in the past, so it’s highly likely that the retailer will return with more discounts this year.

In previous years, shoppers have enjoyed huge savings on bags, purses, holdalls, and other accessories.

When is Cyber Monday 2025 and is Mulberry taking part?

When is Cyber Monday? This year, it will take place on 1 December.

Most brands and retailers continue their Black Friday sales through until Cyber Monday, serving as a final chance to make a big saving.

It’s possible that further reductions will be made on items for Cyber Monday, but it’s not always the case.

However, if there’s a particular item you have your eye on, waiting until Cyber Monday to snap it up means you could risk it selling out.

While Mulberry hasn’t confirmed its plans for Cyber Monday 2025, it’s likely that the discounts will continue throughout the Cyber weekend.

How much does Mulberry’s shipping cost?

If you’re planning to shop online during Mulberry’s Black Friday sale, it’s good to know about its shipping policies.

Mulberry offers free standard shipping on all UK orders, which will take between to and five business days to arrive.

The brand is also currently offering complimentary shipping on new arrivals, although it’s unlikely that these pieces will be reduced in the sale.

Mulberry also provides faster delivery options at an additional cost, including express delivery (1-2 working days) and same-day delivery (if ordered before 3pm).

Express Delivery is priced at £6.95, while Same Day and Saturday Delivery will cost £12.

As it’s the most popular shopping event of the year, it’s worth considering that Black Friday is likely to impact shipping times.

Does Mulberry offer any other discounts?

While Black Friday offers the biggest discounts of the year, Mulberry does have other ways to save.

The brand usually runs sales in the summer and winter, with discounts on selected items.

Plus, Mulberry has been known to occasionally provide promotions through its newsletter.

If you want to shop on a budget outside of Mulberry’s Black Friday sale, it’s worth checking out the brand’s Pre-Loved section or Buy Back option online.

Other retailers stocking Mulberry may also slash the prices of selected items throughout the year, so it’s worth checking various stockists before making a purchase to get the best deal.

5 best leggings: sculpting & flared styles from £25

LEGGINGS are a clothing item that everyone needs in their wardrobe.

The best leggings will be comfortable, supportive and flattering on every body shape, and we’ve put some of the hero brands to the test.

Collage of three women modeling different black leggings.

2

A pair of leggings is a wardrobe staple

Flimsy, see-through leggings are a thing of the past, as there’s a whole world of high-quality options that don’t compromise on style.

From fitness activities to running errands, a pair of leggings have become the ultimate throw-on-and-go fashion item.

They pair with everything from chunky knitwear to fitted tops, and they’re my go-to for wearing at home when I still want to feel put together.

High-waisted leggings, flared styles and sculpting options are all popular, and scrunch-bum leggings are also trending for enhancing the silhouette.

We’ve put a selection of styles through the ringer to see if they’re worth the money, from Gymshark, Halara, Tala and more.

Best leggings at a glance:

How I tested

Woman in athletic wear standing by a planter with purple flowers.

2

I put some of the most popular leggings to the test

There are a few important features to consider when searching for the perfect pair of leggings.

Firstly (and most importantly), a good pair of leggings need to be comfortable.

As a fashion item that will be worn to the gym or for lounging at home, they need to be stretchy enough to wear for long periods without digging into the skin.

One hurdle that leggings often fall at is having a see-through design, and I was closely keeping an eye on the quality of each pair.

I also considered any special features, including sculpting styles, sweat-wicking properties and how they feel on the skin.

I wore the leggings for visits to the gym, long walks, and for lounging at home, to determine whether they work as fashion all-rounders.

Gymshark Vital Seamless Leggings

The Vital Seamless leggings are a bestseller on the Gymshark website
The Vital Seamless leggings are a bestseller on the Gymshark website

Gymshark Vital Seamless Leggings, £45

Pros: Comfortable, supportive waistband, sweat-wicking, flattering on the waist, wide range of colour options

Cons: Expensive when full price, slightly tight on the waist

Rating: 5/5

I’ve been wearing Gymshark leggings for years, and they’re yet to disappoint me.

The Vital Seamless Leggings are not only a brand bestseller, but they’re also my new favourite.

Featuring sweat-wicking technology and breathable mesh dots, they’re comfortable even after intense workouts, and I don’t ever need to worry about sweat patches.

The feature I love the most is the supportive ribbed waistband.

It sits high on the stomach, sucking me in without ever feeling suffocating.

For more cinching styles, read our roundup of the best high-waisted leggings.

Gymshark’s leggings have mastered the balance between comfort and style, smoothing out lumps and bumps around my waist and thighs, while still remaining comfortable enough to wear for long periods.

At full-price, the leggings are on the expensive side, but Gymshark often has big sales with price drops of up to 50%.

BetterMe High Impact Mesh Leggings

Woman modeling teal leggings.
BetterMe’s High Impact leggings have plenty of stretch

BetterMe High Impact Mesh Leggings, £52

Pros: Stretchy, sweat-wicking, nice colour, smooths lumps and bumps, subtly shapes the figure

Cons: Expensive

Rating: 5/5

BetterMe is best-known for its health coaching app, but branched out into the activewear space in 2022.

I tried the brand’s High Impact Mesh Leggings, and I honestly can’t fault them.

Firstly, I’m obsessed with the dark green colourway, but the pair also comes in burgundy, black and ivory shades.

The leggings have a stretchy design that feels so soft on the skin, with a high-rise fit that flatters the figure.

The waistband and mesh detailing are why they’re so comfortable for wearing all day, and I’ve been reaching for them to exercise and for running errands.

Made from nylon and lycra, they give light tummy control, and I’ve noticed how much they smooth out my thighs.

Leg length: Full; Size range: XS-XXL; Colours available: Four colours, Fabric: Nylon and lycra spandex

Marks & Spencer Good Move Go Balance High Waisted Yoga Leggings

best-leggings
The M&S Good Move leggings are supportive and comfortable.

Marks & Spencer Good Move Go Balance High Waisted Yoga Leggings, £25

Pros: Flattering, comfortable, shaping/slimming, stretchy, soft, cool and breathable, V waist

Cons: Limited colour range

Rating: 5/5

These leggings are perfect for yoga and pretty much any other occasion, too.

They’re silky soft and cosy but still lightweight and breathable so that you won’t overheat during a workout.

I love the flattering V-shaped waistband; it’s unique and has a nice twist on a regular pair of black leggings.

But also, it makes your waist smaller and your bum look lifted.

The leggings will pair perfectly with running trainers, and we tested some of the best styles.

At the moment, it only comes in black, burgundy and a printed design, but hopefully, M&S will launch more colours soon.

Halara UltraSculpt High Waisted Scrunch Bum Leggings

Woman modeling black leggings.
Halara’s sculpting leggings have been slashed in the sale

Halara UltraSculpt High Waisted Scrunch Butt Leggings, £30.95 (was £50.95)

Pros: Lifts the bum, sculpts the figure, compression to smooth out bumps, good selection of lengths and colours, currently on sale

Cons: Ruching is quite visible, feels tight

Rating: 4/5

Halara is the TikTok-famous brand that even Taylor Swift is fan of, and I tried UltraSculpt Scrunch Butt Leggings.

Featuring compression for shaping, a V-shaped waistband and an ultra-high waist, the stretchy leggings are just as comfortable as they are flattering.

The all-over compression held me in while smoothing out unwanted bumps, and the black colourway is ideal for both exercise and everyday wear.

The leggings feature padding and ruching that lifts the butt, and while the design is quite discreet, I would prefer if it was completely invisible.

Halara currently has a huge sale on, where shoppers can save up to 80% sitewide, and the sculpting leggings are reduced by £20.

Leg length: Full; Size range: XS-XXL; Colours available: 20 colours, Fabric: Nylon and elastane

TALA SkinLuxe High Waisted Flared Legging

best-leggings
Tala’s flared leggings went viral when they were released

TALA SkinLuxe High Waisted Flared Legging, £59

Pros: Flattering flared leg, waistband doesn’t fall down, super soft, easy to put on, comfortable, back pocket with zip, lightweight, sustainable (made from recycled nylon)

Cons: Only available in four colours

Rating: 5/5

TALA’s SkinLuxe flared leggings have been one of our favourites for a while now.

Flared jeans are so in right now, and so are flared leggings.

Not only are they trendy, but this shape is really flattering on the waist, thighs and bum.

They’re great for accentuating curves without being skin-tight.

I wear this pair all the time, as they’re ideal for WFH and then heading out for a walk with friends.

They’re also great for hardcore workouts, especially on days when you’re feeling a little bloated or feel like covering up a bit more, as the high waist will not roll down.

What to wear with leggings?

There are two reasons why leggings are a wardrobe staple.

Firstly, they’re comfortable for every occasion, and they can be worn with just about anything.

For lounging at home and running errands, leggings can be styled with T-shirts, knitwear and trainers, but they can also be teamed with various activewear for trips to the gym.

Leggings also make a great base for layering during the colder months, and they look effortlessly stylish paired with longline coats and a crossbody bag.

Building a capsule wardrobe means finding timeless clothing items that can be styled in multiple ways, and leggings are the item that does just that.

How to style flared leggings?

Flared leggings have made a comeback in recent years, and they’ve become a popular choice for everyday and loungewear.

Traditionally worn for yoga, the wide-leg style could be thrown on for any occasion, giving me of an elevated feel than traditional leggings.

The design is also flattering on every body type, and they look stylish paired with tank tops, cropped T-shirts, cardigans and leather jackets.

Tala, the clothing brand founded by influencer Grace Beverly, is known for its figure-flattering flared leggings.

It has a range of flared styles available on the site to pair with crop tops, sweatshirts and more.

Do Gymshark leggings run small?

Gymshark leggings are usually considered to be true to size, but the sizing is largely down to the individual styles.

I tested Gymshark’s Vital Seamless Leggings (the brand’s bestseller), and I found the design to be exactly true to size.

It’s always worth reading the product reviews before taking the plunge to determine how accurate the sizing will be.

Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing to make MAJOR AI change and it could lead to surge pricing on clothing

BIG names in fashion, including Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing, are making a major AI change and it could lead to surge pricing.

Debenhams Group brands are getting a tech makeover by using artificial intelligence to decide how much items will cost.

But experts have warned it could lead to surge pricingCredit: Not known, clear with picture desk

Brands owned by the group are now letting AI set prices in real-time, reacting instantly to trends, demand and what rivals are charging.

The retail giant has teamed up with AI firm Peak to make it all happen.

They reckon this AI system will mean more targeted discounts, so you’re more likely to see deals on stuff you actually want.

It also means the brands can avoid having piles of unsold clothes hanging around.

Dan Finley, chief executive of Debenhams Group, said: “We’ve totally changed how we do pricing.”

“AI helps us make faster, smarter choices, so we can give our customers better value.”

But experts are wary, warning that shoppers could be at the mercy of surge pricing, where AI algorithms automatically raise prices during periods of high demand.

Consumer champion Martyn James warns that “corporate-speak” can obscure the real purpose of these changes.

While the company talks about “automated pricing” and targeted discounts, James points out that “there is also nothing to stop the business increasing prices on demand either.”

He fears that without proper oversight, shoppers could be vulnerable to AI-driven “surge pricing,” as has been seen with hotels and Uber.

Edinburgh’s Bold Transformation: From Debenhams to Pod Hotel

Echoing these concerns, consumer expert Scott Dixon believes this is about protecting profits first and foremost.

He said: “The use of AI clearly benefits Debenhams as they can protect profit margins, cut waste and implement surge pricing in-line with increased demand.

“Debenhams needs to show AI is working for its customers, not just shareholders.”

He also warns of potential price hikes during peak shopping periods like Black Friday and Christmas, stating that dynamic pricing is only fair if it works both ways.

Debenhams Group brands

DEBENHAMS Group (formerly known as Boohoo Group) has a whole stable of well-known brands under its umbrella:

  • Boohoo: The original online fashion giant known for its trend-led pieces and affordable prices.
  • PrettyLittleThing: Another fast-fashion favourite, offering a similar vibe to Boohoo but with its own distinct style.
  • BoohooMAN: Bringing the Boohoo formula to menswear, with on-trend clothing and accessories for guys.
  • Karen Millen: A more premium brand offering sophisticated and stylish clothing for women, often with a focus on occasion wear.
  • Debenhams: The department store itself, now operating as an online marketplace selling a wide range of fashion, beauty, and home products.

The group also owns labels, including Nasty Gal, Coast, Misspap, Oasis, Warehouse, Burton, Wallis, and Dorothy Perkins.

Several retailers, including ASOS and Iconic London, are using AI to make online shopping more interactive.

One example is Nibble, an AI negotiation platform that lets shoppers haggle for discounts before adding items to their cart.

The technology enables a back-and-forth negotiation with a bot, and some users have reportedly secured discounts of up to 40% on ASOS Sample Sale purchases.

The option to negotiate only appears if it’s offered before adding an item to your cart.

In some cases, the feature is timed to pop up when a shopper hesitates over the buy button or seems ready to leave the site.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
