Amazon shoppers love this ‘incredibly fast-charging’ £140 power bank – now just £26

AMAZON has cut the price of a heavyweight charging essential, and it’s proving popular.

The Ohoviv Fast Charging Power Bank usually retails for £139.99, but is now just £25.99.

Ohoviv Fast Charging Power Bank, £139.99 £25.99

That’s a huge 81% off, and this isn’t just any old backup charger.

With a mammoth 26,800mAh capacity, the Ohoviv Power Bank is built to keep your devices alive for days on end.

It supports 22.5W fast charging via USB-A and 20W via Type-C, so the latest iPhone 16 can climb to 50% in just half an hour.

That’s serious power in your pocket, with enough ports to charge three devices at once, so you can top up your phone, the kids’ tablet, or your earbuds simultaneously.

Despite all that muscle, the Ohoviv remains surprisingly practical, with a bright LED display that shows you exactly how much juice is left in the tank.

Built-in safety features keep voltage, current, and temperature under control, so your phone stays protected.

Amazon reviewers have been quick to sing its praises, with one shopper raving: “It charges my iPhone 15 and my partner’s Galaxy phone incredibly fast.

They continued, “I love that I can charge two devices at once. Despite its powerful capacity, it’s lightweight and compact.”

Another added, “Easy to carry as it’s not heavy, and doesn’t overheat when in use it. I love the screen that shows its battery life and the overall design.”

While a third wrote, “Good capacity, lasted well and charged my phone for 3 nights without needing recharging.”

It’s little wonder the Ohoviv has racked up a near-perfect 4.9 out of 5-star average rating, with more than 500 units sold in the past month alone.

But it’s not the first time we’ve seen a steal like this.

Just this week, I spotted Amazon slashing the Xinwld wireless headphones from £140 to a bargain £22.

Walkers makes big change to iconic crisps and shoppers are furious

SHOPPERS are pleading with Walkers after it changed its blue salt sachets in crisp packets to light-coloured ones, making them hard to find.

The small bags are included in the brand’s popular “Salt & Shake” crisps to allow fans to sprinkle over their own seasoning.

Foodies are furious after Walkers made a change to its Salt & Shake crisps
A packet of white crystals on a wooden surface.

2

The new salt packet colour makes it difficult to find

But lately production problems have meant that the traditional blue bags have been changed to a see-through white colour.

One fan complained on the Tesco website: “I took several crisps into my mouth as there was no blue salt packet amongst them. However, I immediately got a mouthful of salt!

“As a kidney transplant recipient I need to avoid salt… Please make everyone aware.”

There were further complaints on X, where fans complained of struggling to find the condiment.

One said: “For the love of crisps, can you PLEASE go back to the blue sachet in Salt & Shake.

“I’ve been getting these clear/white ones recently and they’re bloody impossible to find in the bag without taking loads of crisps out!”

A second added: “Please make the salt sachet in your Salt & Shake crisps blue again! The transparent ones are impossible to find among the crisps!

“Surely the whole point of them being blue was to be easy to find, and as a homage to the old ‘blue twist’ from the old days?”

A third fumed: “Awful idea to have white salt bags ! I thought I’d found a plaster.”

A fourth asked: “Why have you changed the salt pkt colour from blue which was easy to find in the bag to a clear pkt which can’t be seen.”

Healthier Twists on Scotland’s Beloved Square Sausage

Walkers did not comment to The Sun, but said on X.com: “We’re unable to source the blue sachets at the moment, so we’ve replaced these with an alternative.

“We’ll revert to the blue sachets again as soon as possible.”

Crisps sold with separate salt bags have a tradition of more than 100 years in this country.

According to museumofcrisps.com, the first company to sell crisps commercially was The Smiths Potato Crisps Company Ltd, founded in 1920 by Frank Smith and Jim Viney.

They provided a twist of salt with their crisps, which were sold in London in greaseproof paper bags.

Smith’s was later taken over by PepsiCo, along with the Walkers brand.

Why are products axed or recipes changed?

ANALYSIS by chief consumer reporter James Flanders.

Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether.

They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers.

There are several reasons why this could be done.

For example, government regulation, like the “sugar tax,” forces firms to change their recipes.

Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs.

They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable.

For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018.

It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version.

Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year.

Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks.

While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.

Recipe changes that have angered customers

It’s not the first time foodies have expressed their dismay at production changes.

Earlier this year, Ribena fans complained about a change to the popular drink which has left it tasting “vile”.

Ribena had reformulated its blackcurrant squash recipe to slightly reduce its blackcurrant juice content.

The new squash started to be sold at the beginning of March but shortly after fans have flooded social media with complaints about the product.

Other popular brands have caused complaints after they updated their recipes.

Aldi was slammed by fans after it changed its popular Meatsters snack.

The popular snack is an own-brand dupe of the Peperami salami sticks and costs £1.99 for a pack of five.

The Sun understands there has been a change to the way Meatsters are produced.

Meanwhile, fans have previously complained that they could not find the Meatsters in stores.

Meanwhile, Heinz was slammed by shoppers last year after it changed the ingredients in its baked beans with sausages.

Sainsbury’s customers also recently complained about a change to its Sweetened Long Life Soya Drink 1L.

Nestle was also bombarded with complaints on social media about its Fruit Pastilles and Jelly Tots.

Shoppers have gone wild for the treat, after an eagle-eyed shopper spotted the snack yesterday.

One excited fan wrote “these are delicious”, with another adding “they are so good”.

Others praised Heron Foods for stocking the coated fries, describing the budget-friendly retailer as “underrated”.

“Heron is so underrated!! You can find some amazing things!”

The news comes after Popeyes announced plans to open 45 new restaurants across the UK this year.

The American fast food chain has secured £43 million from Barclays Corporate Banking as it adds to its existing 80 locations in Britain.

The chain’s UK chief finance officer Drew Taylor said: “Barclays are a highly supportive banking partner of Popeyes in the UK.

“The new finance facilities will enable us to build on our successful growth in the UK to date and execute our expansion strategy over the coming years, with more than 45 openings targeted in 2025 alone.”

Popeyes’ first UK store was opened in the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford, London, but now it is eyeing more locations across the country.

Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol can all expect new Popeyes locations, with Liverpool, Manchester and London all receiving additional branches.

‘It’s still summer,’ cry Morrisons shoppers as traditional Christmas treat spotted on shelves ALREADY

WE may be in the midst of a late summer heatwave, but clearly some people are thinking ahead to Christmas – as Morrisons has already started selling mince pies.

An eagle-eyed shopper posted an image of the festive dessert on sale at their local Morrisons in Sheffield on August 16.

The festive treats were found in the bakery aisle of a Morrisons in Sheffield

The photo, on Instagram account @newfoodspotteruk, shows a pack of six shortcrust mince pies, priced at £1.50 and set to expire on August 29 – almost four months before Christmas.

Mince pies are also available on the Morrisons website at the same price point. As well as shortcrust, deep filled (£2) and puff pastry (£1) mince pies are also now on sale.

SHOP TO IT 'It's still summer,' cry Morrisons shoppers as traditional Christmas treat spotted on shelves ALREADY

2

Shoppers were outraged at the high street chain stocking Yuletide snacks in August

“Get stuffed it’s still summer,” commented one outraged follower. Others were less concerned, with one remarking that the pies “need some Baileys squirty cream [clapping emoji]”.

Morrisons is not the only major retailer with Christmas products for sale in the height of summer. Rival supermarket ASDA were already selling their range of mince pies in June.

Meanwhile, B&M were recently at the centre of an online spat after they were caught stocking Advent calendars and selection boxes.

One concerned commenter complained: “The way the chocolate is going in b&m during this heat, I would hate to think what it would be like in Dec!”

It’s also not the first time shoppers have noticed Morrisons stocking festive treats in summer.

Earlier in August, a father of three was shocked to find Milkybars branded with snowflake and other yuletide imagery on the shelves. Last year, The Telegraph reported that the chain was selling six different types of mince pie by the end of August.

When it comes to non-food items, like Advent calendars or decorations, experts note that August is the ideal time to start shopping and bag a bargain.

We’ve approached Morrisons for comment.

Cleaning products can be a hidden cost when running a household, so if you find a good deal it can really help save money.

The Flash Speedmop comes with 24 cloths.

Starter Kit £13 (was £22)

Hard floors like wood and laminate may be slightly easier to clean than carpet, but it can still take effort to tackle stuck-on food and dirt.

If you favour specific brands for your cleaning products,  and you’re not heading to Amazon for deals on them, you could be paying more than you need to.

A mop is a basic cleaning necessity but the Flash Speedmop is an easy to use, mess-free alternative.

The starter pack comes with the mop itself, plus 8 wet cloths for spills and stubborn stains and 15 dry cloths for dust and dirt.

All you have to do to set us is connect the poles, and attach a sheet to the mop head.

The head swivels, so you can clean difficult areas, like beneath sofas and under furniture.

A Flash Speedmop is more convenient than the traditional mop, needing no water or cleaning fluid, and offering easy disposal.

The main difference is that you need to keep stocked up on the cloths, which is why the current deal is so handy.

Buying from Amazon also means home delivery, so when you run out you won’t have to rush to a supermarket.

Over 7,000 shoppers have left reviews on the Speedmop, which has now become an Amazon bestseller.

One shopper said: ‘’The Flash SpeedMop is incredibly easy to use and convenient, which makes it great for busy mums or anyone looking to speed up their cleaning.’’

‘’The spray mechanism is handy, and the pre-moistened pads really help cut down on the effort needed to get floors sparkling clean.’’

‘’Many users find it effective on both sticky messes and light dusting, especially in high-traffic areas.’’

Another shopper added: ‘’Wow this is so good – easy to fit and to store, takes up virtually no room.’’

‘’It cleans up brilliantly and wow the dirt it picks up, also the lemon smell is really nice, and the floor dries really fast.’’

‘Space-saving’ sun loungers with ‘very handy’ feature are a hit with Amazon shoppers

Catching a tan whilst being comfortable is a winning combo, and heatwave weather is ideal for making the most of your garden.

Amazon’s KEPLIN pair of XXL Premium Padded Zero Gravity Chairs are reduced from £99.99 to £74.99, saving 26% off.

Two zero-gravity chairs with side tables.

The sleek design has two-tone colours.

KEPLIN Set of 2 XXL Premium Padded
Zero Gravity Chairs £74.99 (was £99.99)

One of the best parts of owning a garden is that you don’t have to go to the beach or park to do some sunbathing.

As it’s so hot this week, it’s a great time to invest in a new sunlounger (or two).

Amazon has slashed the price of the KEPLIN pair of XXL Premium Padded Zero Gravity Chairs.

Sun loungers can be thin and flimsy, but these are built to be heavy duty, with thick padding on the seat.

Comfort is key if you’re going to be spending hours lying out, and the supportive design also includes a head cushion.

There’s a variety of positions the chair can be adjusted to, and once you’ve found your favourite, you can lock it in on the side.

The feature shoppers can’t stop talking about is one you don’t often get with sun loungers – its the handy side tray for storing your essentials.

It clips onto the side, and not only does each chair have two cup holders, but also a phone holder, and a slot that would fit a book or an iPad, so it’s ideal if you don’t have a table.

Avoiding the cheap, plasticy look of some foldable chairs, these are completely different, as the two-tone colourways look a lot more classy.

Opt for a natural cream, grey or black shade, or brighten up the garden with one of the fun colours.

Shoppers are impressed with the Amazon garden chairs, with one saying: ‘’They are so comfortable and also feel incredibly robust.

‘’These are an absolute bargain.’’

Another shopper commented: ‘’These arrived quickly, and look great.’’

‘’They are easy to fold/unfold and feel sturdy when being used.’’

”They are very comfy, slightly wider than a normal chair and the holders are very handy too.’’

A third shopper added: ‘’The chairs are great and easy to adjust, when you get the hang of it.’’

‘’Love the extra storage for phone, drink, iPad etc.’’

‘’The only thing that I would really like is having the ability to have the foot section up without the back being horizontal.’’

KEPLIN Set of 2 XXL Premium Padded
Zero Gravity Chairs £74.99 (was £99.99)

Sun loungers aren’t the only upgrade you can make to your garden without spending a fortune.

If you’re trying to make the most of your summer evenings, the best solar lights for the garden are all in The Sun Shopping’s round-up.

SAINSBURY’S shoppers are going wild after spotting a “gorgeous” new autumn pyjama collection.

TikToker Jasmine Poppy sent fashion lovers into a frenzy when she posted a clip of her latest TU Clothing purchases.

The TikToker showed off Sainsbury’s new range of cosy sets perfect for snuggling up as the nights draw in.

Among the finds was the Mini Me Women’s Halloween Pink Pumpkin Print Slinky Pyjama set, priced at £16, with the rest of the line retailing at £20.

And while Halloween PJs usually mean garish orange and purple prints, Sainsbury’s has gone for something a little different this year with pretty designs in soft pinks and cute patterns that shoppers say are “perfect for autumn”.

The line includes a pink jersey pasta printed set, cosy pin-striped pumpkin set and a fun cherry cake printed set, with plenty of other cute designs for shoppers to pick from.

The playful pumpkin prints, soft fabrics, and matching sets have quickly earned a spot on people’s must-buy lists.

“I LOVE TU pjs, they’re so comfy,” raved one fan in the comments.

Another wrote: “Never have I run to order something so quickly.”

A third added: “These are gorgeous, I want all of them.”

One shopper had their eyes on a particular set, gushing: “I need the cherry pumpkin ones.”

I work in Sainsbury’s – my picks from new autumn collection, 1920s trend is back

While another insisted: “Sainsbury’s pjs top all others, honestly.”

It’s clear Sainsbury’s is coming into the colder months well prepared, with styles that feel seasonal without being over-the-top spooky, perfect for anyone who wants to nod to Halloween without going full fancy dress.

So, if you’re already dreaming of hot chocolate, candles, and a fresh pair of matching PJs, you might want to make your next supermarket trip a pyjama haul.

It comes after a Sainsbury’s fashion boss sent shoppers into a frenzy after giving them a sneak peek of their new autumn arrivals.

Hannah Pountain, Director of Merchandising at Tu Clothing, revealed her top five picks from the new range in an Instagram video over the weekend.

And she rounded up her five top picks from the new range – including a staple buy which proves a classic 1920s trend is returning.

The autumn drop follows a wave of excitement over other high street nightwear launches.

Just last week, Primark had shoppers swooning with a Clueless-themed pyjama line, inspired by the iconic 90s rom-com.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.

So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?

Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.

Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.

The Uninell Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is now £109, and it has lots of handy features that make it versatile for cleaning all different surfaces.

Firstly, it’s cordless, which makes it easier to clean awkward areas, like the stairs or corners that aren’t within reach of a plug socket.

The cordless battery lasts up to an hour, and charges using a wall-mounted charger.

The handy design also allows you to transform it into a handheld vacuum cleaner, which is ideal for cleaning the car and tackling dirt and debris under sofa cushions and on other soft furniture.

Parents will know that the school holidays equal constant crumbs and mess, and this versatile vacuum is great for quick clean-ups.

There’s a ‘barefloor’ mode for hard flooring, a carpet mode, and a turbo mode for extra-powerful cleans and tackling ground-in dirt and hair.

The Amazon vacuum cleaner has a high 4.8 star rating, with hundreds of shoppers leaving their feedback.

One shopper said: ‘’Honestly would never go back to buying the likes of Miele, Dyson and Shark, of which I have owned over the years.’’

Another shopper commented: ‘’It’s lightweight, powerful, and glides around corners easily, picking up all my dog’s hair effortlessly.’’

‘’Great value for money. Can’t believe how cheap it was for what I got!’’

While a third shopper praised the ‘’Excellent vacuum cleaner’’, calling it ‘’easy to use, lightweight, good attachments, battery lasts long enough to clean medium sized house.’’

They also went on to say: ‘’Can’t differentiate much between this and the much pricier Dyson equivalent.’’

In comparison, Dyson’s cheapest vacuum online right now is £249.99, and that’s the reduced price – some cost as much as £799.

That brings the Hosgubo Power Bank down by a massive 92%, so it’s no surprise it’s getting plenty of attention on Amazon right now.

You will need to be a Prime member to claim the deal, but with a 30-day free trial available, it’s an easy win.

Unlike bulkier battery packs, this one is designed with portability front and centre.

With a 10000mAh capacity, it’s got more than enough power to get you through a full day, and then some.

And because it’s well under the TSA’s 27,000mAh limit, you can safely pop it in your hand luggage for a mid-flight top-up.

It’s not just the size that makes it handy. It supports 3A fast charging, twice as fast as your average power bank, so you won’t be stuck waiting forever to recharge.

Whether it’s your phone, wireless earbuds, or even a mate’s device, this little power bank can handle it.

There’s also a clever little design touch: the micro cable doubles as a lanyard, so you can clip it to your bag and keep it handy while you’re out and about.

There’s no guessing games when it comes to battery life, the LED power display shows you exactly how much juice you’ve got left.

With a 4.6-star average and over 500 units sold last month, this compact power bank has impressed Amazon shoppers with its solid design, fast charging, and reliability.

“Compact, powerful, and perfect for on-the-go,” writes one shopper. “It’s honestly become a lifesaver for my on-the-go lifestyle.”

Millions of Tesco shoppers could benefit from discounted holidays this summer. Anyone with a Clubcard could use their points to get cheaper deals from easyJet.

According to the supermarket, there are thousands of holidays to choose from, covering a range of budgets. The scheme uses your existing Clubcard vouchers, which are accumulated from points when you shop at Tesco.

These can then be exchanged for easyJet holiday credit, making them worth twice the value they were previously. This means that for every 50p in Clubcard vouchers you have, you will get £1 to use with easyJet.

The Tesco website explains: “Choose from thousands of hand-picked hotels in Europe and beyond, with a range to suit any budget. easyJet holidays has departures to over 100 destinations from airports all around the UK, often with daily or more frequent flights, meaning you can tailor your travel plans to suit you.

“Their collection of more than 5,000 hotels has everything from luxury all-inclusive, boutique city retreats and family friendly beach side resorts. Whatever you’re looking for, you can holiday with confidence with a dedicated 24 hour UK-based support team and flexibility to change your booking if plans change.

“Tempted? Exchange your Clubcard vouchers and get 2x the value, then book your package holiday at an unbeatable price with total confidence. Did we mention that all holidays are ATOL and ABTA protected too?”

How to claim your holiday

Firstly, you must make sure you have an easyJet holidays online account that matches your Tesco account email address. Your easyJet holidays account email must match the one you use for your Tesco Clubcard account.

You must then select the right amount to exchange. However, if your order exceeds the maximum annual easyJet holidays credit allowance (£300 Clubcard Voucher value = £600 easyJet holidays credit), the order will be cancelled and the Tesco Clubcard points will be refunded to your account.

Tesco.com added: “Please note, once you exchange your Clubcard vouchers for easyJet holidays credit, this is non refundable. Any unused easyJet holidays credit will not be refunded, credited, or exchanged, so only exchange the amount you need.”

You will then receive an order confirmation email. A second email will follow once easyJet holidays have validated your order.

M&S has made a huge change at ALL cafes and shoppers will be fuming

M&S has made a huge change at all cafes and shoppers will be fuming.

Prices at the Percy Pig makers in-store cafes have risen by up to 20%, with the cost of a Gastro Fish & Chips meal increasing by £2.

M&S has raised prices across its in-store cafesCredit: Alamy

It’s beer battered fish, served with chips, petit pois and tartar sauce used to cost £9.95 in August 2024.

But its most updated menu for June 2025 shows the cost of the beloved British dish has risen to £11.95 across sites.

The price of a single portion of chips at the cafe has also increased by 50p, now costing £2.50.

And fans of its brekkie are forking out more too.

M&S’s All Day Big Breakfast, served with sausages, bacon, soft poached eggs, tomatoes, potato rosti, baked beans and toast, used to cost £9.50.

But punters are now paying an extra 45p for the hefty morning meal.

Elsewhere, toast with jam and butter now costs £3.75 up from £3.50 and a breakfast ciabatta’s was £4.95 but now costs £5.25.

The posh retailer has also shaken up what is served on menus, axing its nutty granola bowl priced at £4.25.

This has been replaced with a Berry Bliss granola bowl that costs 70p more.

An M&S spokesperson told The Sun: ” We’re committed to providing trusted value for our customers by mitigating and offsetting as much of the current food inflation as we can.

Shoppers race to M&S as one of their best selling items which is a mum-essential viral are scanning for just 63 PENCE

“We are working hard to ensure we offer a wide range of price points and options for our customers, never compromising on the M&S quality they expect.”

It is not uncommon for restaurants, cafés and grocery stores to raise prices due to increased operational costs, including hikes to National Insurance contributions and wages.

M&S has previously faced ridicule for hiking the cost of popular items, such as Percy Pigs.

Shoppers were outraged after it was discovered a 170g of the iconic sweet treat had been hiked by 10p, now costing £2.

The bestselling sweets have undergone a 33% price hike since 2017 when a packet cost just £1.50.

MORE PRICE RISES

M&S is not the only retailer hiking costs for customers.

Earlier this year, Morrisons also increased the cost of a number popular menu items in its cafés.

The Full Breakfast was hiked by 25p to £7, while its sweet Stacked Pancakes have risen by £4.25 to £4.50.

The price of a Ultimate Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas has increased by £7.75 to £8.50.

Meanwhile, battered sausages, chips and mushy peas increased from £6 to £6.50.

Greggs increased the price of a sausage roll to £1.30 nationally at the start of the year.

The rise means that the Brit favourite jumped by more than a third since it cost £1 in 2022.

At some travel locations, such as London Bridge, the price of a sausage roll has increased from £1.50 to £1.55.

Elsewhere, Costa Coffee has hiked the price of a brew across its hospital concessions.

An audit by our investigators found that a small latte or cappuccino costs £3.90 and a medium £4.10 at Medivest’s Royal Victoria Infirmary’s Costa Coffee outlet in Newcastle.

That’s a 10p increase on February 2025 prices and a 20p more compared with high street prices just yards down the road.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

Save on furniture at Dunelm

Dunelm often has sales and promotions offering up to 75% off, especially at certain times of the year.

It’s worth keeping an eye out for Black Friday and Boxing Day sales to bag a bargain.

You can also check the clearance page on the Dunelm website to find the latest discounts.

Other money-saving websites, such as cashback sites like TopCashback and Quidco, may also help you save by allowing you to earn money back on your spending.

Plus you can save by opting for free click-and-collect to avoid being hit with delivery fees.

Shoppers race to nab Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are slashed to £1.50 ahead of Father’s Day & there’s 2 flavours

WITH Father’s Day just around the corner, Morrison’s deal on Terry’s Chocolate Oranges has come at the perfect time.

The major supermarket has slashed the price of the beloved chocolate favourite and shoppers can choose from two different flavours.

Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are popular chocolate around the worldCredit: Facebook

Morrisons is selling the 90g ball in both the original and mint flavours for £1.50, for those with a member’s card.

The full price of the tasty treat is usually £2 and the reduced price is also cheaper than what Sainsbury’s and Tesco sell it for, which is £1.95 at both supermarkets.

Even with a Tesco Clubcard, Terry’s Chocolate Orange 90g costs £1.75, making the Morrisons offer cheaper.

Terry’s Chocolate Orange is a much-loved icon in the confectionery world and has been available to buy since 1932.

Around 44 million of the zesty treats are sold globally each year, so the brand has to tread carefully so as not to offend die-hard fans with new flavours.

Earlier this year, a TikTok account @belongwealth posted a video blowing viewers away, divulging a little-known secret about the household name.

The clip revealed that the iconic brand had another delicious product predating the chocolate orange.. the chocolate apple.

The poster gave some context to the history of the product, saying: “In 1926, Terry’s Chocolate Works, a family run factory in York, released a dessert chocolate apple.

“It did pretty well, so in 1932 they released a dessert chocolate orange, which did really well.”

According to the TikToker, the chocolate apple did not have the longevity of the orange ball we know and love today because during World War 2, the Terry’s chocolate factory was taken over to use as a base for building aircraft blades.

After the war, the factory was returned to the Terry’s.

But due to rationing and limitations on cocoa imports, the company phased out the less popular chocolate apple and focused on the much-loved orange.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Currently, the Terry’s website lists the classic milk chocolate orange, dark chocolate orange, mint orange, plain milk chocolate, toffee crunch orange and exploding candy orange.

Lidl shoppers reveal trick to get ‘hidden’ freebies – and you don’t need to spend anything

LIDL shoppers say they’ve been getting hidden freebies through the discount supermarket’s loyalty app.

Customers have been raving about the free finds they’ve managed to get through the Lidl Plus app, including doughnuts, fresh fruit and pasta.

It’s all through the app’s Coupon Plus feature, which lets shoppers unlock rewards and freebies when they spend.

Several shoppers have been sharing their bargains on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook Group, with one saying: “Today checked my app so free doughnuts (2) free grapefruit free vine tomatoes free 600g of strawberries saved about £7.00.”

Another shared a photo of a receipt showing they had got muffins, a punnet of strawberries and pasta.

“All free with my Lidl coupon plus rewards,” they said proudly.

A third person said they had got coupons for free fruit, veg and a bakery item on their app despite not spending anything at Lidl yet this month.

A fourth said they received a free kilo punnet of strawberries.

Lidl has said the coupons in its app are tailor-made for each customer based on their shopping habits.

To get the vouchers you should head to the Coupons Plus section of the app and make sure you activate the coupons before you head to the till.

The offers seem to change over time but one example is getting a free bakery sweet treat when you spend £10 in a month.

Shoppers have also shared an extra little-known tip that can help you get the most out of your coupons.

Five Lidl rosés you need this summer, according to a wine expert – a £6.99 buy is as light & crispy as £22 Whispering Angel

One social media user said that when you have a free item in the coupons section of the app, you should click on the picture of the item and scroll down to where it says ‘item number’.

If you click on this, it should show you the complete list of any items you can claim for free with the coupon.

That means you’re not just limited to the free item seen in the picture.

What other offers can you get through the Lidl Plus app?

If it’s your birthday you can get a free doughnut from the Lidl bakery section.

There’s no minimum spend required and the coupon is valid for seven days from your birthday.

All you need to do to get the offer is register your birthday when you initially sign up to the app.

Other offers you can get through the Lidl Plus app include a 10% off voucher when you spend £250 in-store in a month.

This could be particularly helpful for larger families doing their weekly shops at Lidl.

There is also currently a chance to win £5,000 through the app.

Shoppers who spend £30 in one transaction with Lidl Plus from now until June 18 will be entered into a draw to win the cash.

One winner will be announced every day and you can enter multiple times.

Why do Aldi and Lidl have such fast checkouts

IF you’ve ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you’ll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff.

Aldi’s speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals.

It’s all part of Aldi’s plan to be as efficient as possible – and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers.

Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process.

It also uses “shelf-ready” packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock.

The deal was shared on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group, with many savvy shoppers praising the find.

One customer said they “wanted two,” while another said their local store never has deals this good.

The lamp appeared to be scanning for £20 on shelves, but found the £19.50 reduction by using the B&M Scanner App.

The tool allows customers to discover discounted items before the staff have even reduced them.

Often, products will be marked down in the system, but the staff haven’t had the chance to change display prices.

It is free to download on the app store on to your mobile device.

One shopper recently bagged you can bagged £20 furniture at B&M for just £1 by using the device.

Another customers saved over £225 thanks to the B&M scanner app.

B&M shopper rushes to buy energy-saving gadget scanning for £1 instead of £35

If you are keen to shop the lava lamp, you will need to head to one of B&M’s 770 stores across the UK because the retailer does not offer home delivery.

With that in mind it may be worth ringing up your local branch ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

You can find your nearest B&M by visiting www.bmstores.co.uk/stores.

And that is not the bargain spotted at stores in recent weeks.

Parents have been rushing to B&M to take advantage of its £1 toy sale.

Savvy shoppers have managed to pick up everything from Sports Racer cars, Monster High bags, a toddler DJ set and a DIY jewellery kit in stores.

HOW TO SAVE AT B&M

The best time to get cut-price products is 10am on a Wednesday, according to one ex B&M manager.

This is when staff slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.

Deals expert Tom Church said to keep an eye out for red sticker products as well.

These are added to special buy products that have been reduced in price.

It’s worth signing up to Facebook pages dedicated to hunting for bargains from B&M and other discounters too.

Two worth joining are B&M Bargains, Extreme Money Saving Deals and More, and Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.

How to bag a bargain

SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…

Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.

Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.

Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.

Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.

Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.

Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.

And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

Sainsbury’s is testing a huge change to shelf labels – and shoppers will be divided

SAINSBURY’S is the latest supermarket to test a major change to shelf labels in stores – but it will leave shoppers divided.

One of the UK’s biggest supermarkets is trialling electronic shelf labels in a small number of branches.

Shoppers socially distancing outside a Sainsbury's supermarket.

1

Sainsbury’s is trialling electronic shelf labels in a “small number” of storesCredit: Getty

The retailer installed the tech at three of its larger shops late last year and has been trying it out across different sections including alcohol, health and general merchandise.

Sainsbury’s has partnered with Harrison Retail to build the shelf fixings featuring the labels.

A branch in Witney, Oxfordshire, is understood to be one of the three locations where the tech is being trialled.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said: “We are trialling electronic shelf-edge labels in a small number of our stores.”

Sainsbury’s shoppers are bound to be left divided over the new electronic tags though.

Fears have been raised digital labels could lead to “surge pricing”, which sees prices hiked when products are more in demand.

The labels can make it harder for shoppers to spot cut-price items too, as they’re not as visible as the paper yellow, orange or red stickers.

Sainsbury’s joins a host of other supermarkets trialling electronic shelf labels in stores.

Co-op is replacing paper product tags with electronic labels throughout its whole estate over the coming months.

The retailer said last month it had already made the change in 340 branches but would roll out the tags more widely.

It said 1,500 stores will have the labels by the end of this year and rolled out across all its nearly 2,400 shops by the end of 2026.

Lidl also said it would roll out the digital labels across all its stores before the end of 2024.

This came after a successful trial at 35 branches.

Asda is testing the digital labels at a Manchester shop.

WHAT ARE ELECTRONIC PRICE LABELS

Electronic pricing labels are not easy to spot and look almost identical to the traditional paper labels which have existed in stores for centuries.

They feature everything a shopper would expect to see on a label such as cost, weight and unit price.

The only difference is that the information is displayed on screens instead of a paper label.

Usually, they are connected to a wireless network that allows for prices to be updated in real-time – instead of it being done manually by a store clerk.

Supermarkets say the technology will help cut down on waste and help with efficiency in stores.

OTHER SAINSBURY’S NEWS

Sainsbury’s exclusively revealed to The Sun last month it had closed all remaining patisserie, hot food and pizza counters.

It is not clear when the pizza counters shut while is understood the patisserie and hot food counters closed in April.

The closures come as part of a wide-ranging update of Sainsbury’s’ store estate which also saw 61 in-store cafes shut on April 11.

The cafe spaces are being replaced with restaurants run by franchises such as Starbucks and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

The supermarket said its hybrid cafe and food halls were becoming popular among shoppers.

Sainsbury’s first announced the store overhaul in January, as it revealed 3,000 head office staff would also lose their jobs in a senior team shake-up.

At the time, chief executive Simon Roberts said the changes would “ensure we continue to drive forward our momentum”.

Shoppers devastated as Tesco axes popular snack from stores

TESCO has axed a popular product, leaving customers devastated.

Its store brand southern fried chicken instant flavour noodles has now permanently disappeared from supermarket shelves.

Tesco shoppers have been wondering where the popular snack had goneCredit: REDDIT

The snack, which can be made with boiling water, was a fan favourite with shoppers.

It cost around 50p and was available in store and online.

Confused customers have taken to social media to find out where the popular snack had gone.

Writing in a Reddit thread one shopper said: “These are my go to quick food and my local Tesco has none on the shelf and they’ve disappeared off of the website too.

“I’ll be gutted if they’ve discontinued them.”

Another fan replied: “Probably, if you liked them, these stores always stop what people like!

The Sun reached out to Tesco to find out what happened to the savoury snack

The supermarket confirmed the product was no more, adding that it had been replaced with a Chicken flavour that customers could buy.

The news will come as a blow to customers who in the past said it was the only noodles they “enjoy” to eat.

Some customers said Super Noodles make a similar product for a quid, but the upset shopper said they were too dear.

I’m 5’3 and a size 10 – Tesco is killing it with their summer co-ords, my haul was amazing & I got 25% off everything too

Another said Pot Noodles lost the pot chicken champion, could be an alternative and also costs 50p.

It’s not the first time that Tesco has axed a popular product.

Shoppers were heartbroken when Tesco cut its own-brand tomato and basil soup from its chilled range.

Tesco stated that it adjusts its soup range throughout the year to reflect seasonal demand.

The supermarket will expand its offering again in the autumn.

Tesco shoppers were also shocked to find the supermarket no longer stocks six-pint cartons of milk.

OTHER DISCONTINUED PRODUCTS

Tesco is not the only supermarket that has shaken up what it sells in stores.

Asda also recently confirmed it has discontinued its store-brand Creamy Peppercorn Sauce.

The Sun revealed that Alpen cereal bars have permanently disappeared from supermarket shelves.

The snack, usually topped with chocolate or yogurt, has been a staple in many Brits kitchen cupboards since the early noughties.

Alpen bars were also loved by many watching what they eat or following a Slimming World or Weight Watchers diet plan, as the treat was low in calories.

Alpen’s entire cereal bar range, which includes Alpen Light and Alpen Delight has been discontinued.

However shoppers can continue to buy it’s range of muesli, which costs around £3 from major supermarkets.

Kellogg’s also recently confirmed it’s not bringing back its chocolate flavour Corn Flakes.

Those who remember Calgon’s famous jingle — “washing machines live longer with Calgon” — know that this product is nothing short of essential for those living in hard water areas like London, the South East and East Anglia.

Hard water can cause limescale to build up in your washing machine, leading to unpleasant odours, reduced efficiency, and costly repairs.

Calgon tablets help your washing machine in four ways:

  • They remove limescale and other harmful hard water deposits
  • They soften water, protecting your washing machine and clothes
  • They prevent rust
  • They neutralise bad odours

Reviewers have highlighted how effective Calgon is at keeping their washing machines in working order.

One Amazon customer wrote: “Third time ordering. UK water is hard so it makes your drum in your [washing machine] smell, this helps a lot and it also softens the water for softer washing. Good value for money”.

Another wrote: “[I] bought a new Bosch washing machine in January 2011, have used a Calgon tab in every wash for the last 15 years and it’s never missed a beat, still going strong — brilliant price for 75 tabs, can’t be beaten anywhere.”
