Shakira supports a Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show

Shakira is all in for the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime performance, despite ongoing public efforts to replace the Puerto Rican singer with another artist.

In an interview with Variety, the Colombian superstar voiced support for Bad Bunny, who is set to perform on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

“It’s about time!” she said.

In 2020, Bad Bunny joined Shakira and Jennifer Lopez on stage during their halftime performance, which marked the first all-Latine show in Super Bowl history — J Balvin was also featured.

“I remember when we did ours that even having part of our set in Spanish was a bold move… Acceptance of Spanish-language music as part of the mainstream has come so far from when I started,” said Shakira, who during the interview reflected on the recent anniversaries of her critically-acclaimed Spanish album “Pies Descalzos” (released in 1995) as well as “Oral Fixation (Vol 1 and 2)” (both released in 2005).

“I hope and like to think that all the times my music was met with resistance or puzzlement from the English-speaking world before it was embraced helped forge the path to where we are now,” Shakira added.

The news that Bad Bunny would headline the major American sporting event has been met with some pushback from conservative figures, including President Trump, who labeled the decision as “crazy” and “absolutely ridiculous” in an interview with Newsmax earlier this month.

One floating petition on Change.org, which has acquired over 54,000 signatures, called for Bad Bunny to be replaced by Texas singer George Strait as a way to “honor American culture.”

The late Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA also announced an alternative halftime show titled, “The All American Halftime Show,” though the conservative organization has not yet announced artists.

Claims that Bad Bunny is not an American artist are factually incorrect: Puerto Rico is an unincorporated U.S. territory and Puerto Ricans are therefore American citizens. Past Super Bowl halftime shows have also featured non-American acts, including the Rolling Stones, U2, Rihanna, Shania Twain and Coldplay, to name a few.

Despite the anti-Bad Bunny buzz, Shakira doubled down on her support of the singer.

“And I’m so proud that Bad Bunny, who represents not only Latin culture but also how important Spanish-language music has become on a global scale and how universal it has become, is getting to perform on the biggest stage in the world,” she said.

“It’s the perfect moment for a performance like this. I can’t wait to watch it.”

Super Bowl 2026: Bad Bunny will headline halftime show

Bad Bunny will headline the halftime show at next year’s Super Bowl LX, organizers announced Sunday.

This will be the Puerto Rican musician’s second time at the Super Bowl following his appearance with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez during halftime of 2020’s game.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown,” Bad Bunny — whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — said in a statement, noting that “this is for my people, my culture and our history.

“Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el halftime show del Super Bowl,” he added in Spanish, which translates to a request to tell your grandma that he’s playing the Super Bowl.

Roc Nation, the sprawling entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, will again produce the event. The company partnered with the NFL in 2019 to consult on live music events and social justice initiatives, including producing and selecting performers for the Super Bowl halftime show.

“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” Jay-Z said in the statement. “We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

While the big game is an anticipated event for football fans, the halftime spectacle is just as much of an eagerly awaited cultural affair, drawing considerable speculation annually about which star will take what’s widely regarded as music’s biggest stage.

Names that made the rounds this year included Adele and Taylor Swift, with the latter hitting overdrive earlier this month when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made an appearance on “Today” and said, “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.” When asked if talks were in the works with the singer, who is engaged to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, Goodell tried to sidestep the question before responding, “It’s a maybe.”

Bad Bunny’s headlining gig — announced during halftime of Sunday’s Packers-Cowboys match-up at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex. — follows Kendrick Lamar’s performance at this past February’s Super Bowl LIX. Ratings for the Compton-born MC’s halftime show, in which he famously dissed the Canadian rapper Drake and launched a TikTok craze over his flared Celine jeans and “Not Like Us” shuffle, were the highest of all time, according to Nielsen, which said the telecast drew more than 127.7 million viewers. It also earned him an Emmy for music direction, an award he shared with co-music director Tony Russell.

Super Bowl LX will take place Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., and will air on NBC.

Love Island’s Shakira Khan says divide between villa girls was fuelled by more than drama

Shakira Khan opened up about her experience on Love Island during a chat on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast. She spoke about feeling like an outcast and the divide in the villa.

Love Island star, Shakira Khan, 22 has opened up about what life inside the Love Island villa was really like, claiming the show’s “outcasts” all had one thing in common.

Shakira took to Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast to delve into how she and other women of colour were pushed to the margins in the villa saying a troubling “outcast” pattern quickly emerged.

She revealed that she, along with fellow Islanders Toni Laites and Yasmine Pettet called themselves “the outcasts” after feeling pushed out by the main group but soon noticed it wasn’t just them.

“People couldn’t sit there and say there was no divide, there was a divide and that’s okay,” she explained. “As much as people want to sh*t on that, that was my lived experience and my friends will say the same.”

“Me, Toni and Yas call ourselves the outcasts but you could collectively add Billykiss to that, Malisha, Andrada, Emma and there’s a pattern here which I don’t think anyone wants to talk about,” she said. “Women of colour.”

It was clear during the season there was a divide in the show, many viewers took to social media to share their opinions and what side of the fence they were sitting on. Shakira said viewers weren’t wrong to sense a divide on the show, but insisted it ran far deeper than what made it to air.

The divide started on one of the very first days, when Shakira found herself single in the villa, therefore putting her at risk of being sent home. After she pulled islanders for chat’s with each conversation being reciprocated which led to girls began to talk and the quickly there was a shift – the divide began.

According to Shakira, anyone seen as a “threat” to the main group was quickly isolated. “We banded together, the outcasts,” she said.

She drew a direct link between her villa experience and wider society, saying it reminded her of segregation growing up. “It boils down to childhood, people were banned from the community, even in my hometown,” she said.

“We talk about the segregation of white communities, Asian communities people find community in their own and people they have shared experiences with.”

Shakira revealed that these moments in the villa soon had an impact on her. “If you get told 100 times a day ‘you’re wrong, you’re irrelevant’, that’s what you start to internalise. You believe that’s the opinion on the outside because you’ve got nothing else to go off,” she said.

Luckily there has been a change for Shakira and her fellow Islanders, Toni and Yasmin. In just a small amount of time they’ve redefined what post-villa success looks like

However, after a series of posts on TikTok and Instagram where Shakira wasn’t mentioned, fans feared they may have split.

Now Harry has cleared things up with a string of what he’s been up to lately – with a loved up snap with Shakira taking centre stage.

In the photo, the couple are seen at dinner taking a selfie with their tongues touching as they poke them out for the pic.

Another saw Shakira sitting on Harry’s lap while on a date night, with Harry having a protective arm around her as they pulled faces for the camera.

He captioned the pics: “Embracing this silly life 🤪”

The string of pics – which included Harry taking mirror selfies, deep in interviews and posing with winner Cach Mercer, came to the delight of fans who were wanting updates.

Soon Islanders past and present were also getting involved, with Dami Hope, who appeared in the 2022 summer season, writing: “You’re doing amazing sweetie x”

“You are a lucky guy to have Shakira ❤️🙌👍🏻” wrote another fan, to which Harry responded, “Very”.

“Love is sweet” said a third, prompting Harry to reply “So Sweet”.

Harry and Shakira placed second on this year’s finale, being beaten by Cach and American islander Toni Laites.

Love Island’s Harry reveals he’s moving to Burnley to live in with Shakira just days after leaving the villa

At the time of the show ending, they were the only couple who didn’t label themselves “exclusive”, with Harry saying he “didn’t see the point”.

He later clarified his comments, explaining that he “didn’t understand what exclusive meant” away from the confines of the villa, where bombshells were thrown in to tempt islanders away from their current couple.

Appearing on Joe Baggs’ Not My Bagg podcast, Harry explained why he didn’t decide to put that label on the pair – and doesn’t ever plan to.

“I’m not here for like, ‘Oh, we’re exclusive’, or making a big thing out of being exclusive,” he said. “The thing for us would be boyfriend and girlfriend.

“Obviously, we’re not there yet but when it comes. It was never going to be ‘Do you want to be exclusive?’”

“I think that goes without saying, from my side, at least, I only have eyes for her after I got back with her in the villa, and now on the outside world, it’s the same thing.

“I’ve got no interest in anyone else.”

Love Island host Maya Jama shares true feelings over Shakira and Harry reunion

Love Island 2025’s Harry was surprised to hear what host Maya Jama really thought of him and Shakira reuniting and making it to the final after recent comments on the series

Love Island host Maya Jama wasted no time in telling runners-up Shakira and Harry what she really thought of their romance during the live final on Monday night. The pair have been on and off and in multiple triangles throughout the series.

But in the last week or so, the Love Island pair reconciled against all odds and seemed to be in it for good this time. Despite dividing viewers and co-stars with their latest reunion, host Maya surprised Harry with what she had to say on Monday.

The presenter gave her true thoughts on the pair, having called out Harry for his behaviour towards Helena and others in a previous episode. It comes as Toni and Cach were announced as this year’s winners, beating Shakira and harry to the prize money.

Harry shared his shock though, as Maya admitted this time it felt different between them. Having seen clips of them together for the final week and the final day, she said watching them she could see it was genuine.

She shared: “Well you both look very happy with each other. It’s nice to see you two together in the final. You both look really… I dunno. The last couple of days I’ve been watching you like, this is cute. This is cute.”

Harry couldn’t hide the shock on his face as he said: “Yeah? I never thought you’d say that to me, Maya.” Agreeing, she replied: “I know, can you believe it? Me calling you cute.

“But you are here in the final. There is obviously something the public have seen that is obviously giving love story.” It comes as the All Stars series was confirmed to return to ITV2 and ITVX for a third series in 2026.

Speaking on the renewal, Mike Spencer-Hayter, Creative Director at Lifted Entertainment, said: “Love Island: All Stars has quickly established itself as a stand-alone hit, keeping fans of the show gripped by iconic Islanders from the past 10 years returning for another chance to find love.

“We are very excited about series 3 and you can expect the twists and turns to continue in All Stars, after an incredible smash hit summer series.” The second series of Love Island : All Stars aired earlier this year, and was won by Gabby Allen and Case O’Gorman. The series also saw the reunion of Ronnie Vint and Harriet Blackmore – but it didn’t come without complaints.

In February, the show lodged over 2,000 complaints to Ofcom in its final week, as fans fumed at various stars for their “bullying behaviour”. On February 12, there were 1,347 complaints, followed by 820 on February 11, 63 on February 13 and 57 on February 16.

The February 12 episode saw Ekin-Su and Elma clash over the latter’s comment about Ekin-Su and Curtis having the weakest connection. Things only got worse between the group when Ekin-Su had kissed Sammy during the heart rate challenge. During the argument, an angry Elma swore at Ekin-Su and Curtis and told them to “shut their mouths”.

Harry Cooksley is set to reveal a major ‘regret’ he has about his romance with Shakira Khan during the Love Island final. The footballer, 30, has made it to the end of the ITV2 dating programme with Shakira, 22, and is set to have an open and honest chat with her before they could be potentially be crowned winners of the latest series.

Shakira starts things off by saying: “Doing this experience without you and watching things unfold was so hard because I felt so strongly towards you. You’re everything I could possibly want in a partner. It’s been an amazing last week and I’m excited for the future.”

Prior to coupling up with Shakira, Harry had a long-standing romance with Helena Ford and then his ex-girlfriend Emma Munro made a shock entrance to the villa before leaving in the weeks leading up to the final. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025 .

Shakira was initially coupled up with Harry in the early weeks of the competition, but they got together again just days ahead of the final and he told her: “I came in here and thought it would be a lot of fun. Finding you in a Villa in Mallorca was not on my bingo card this summer. I do regret taking too long to tell you how I felt. We both know this is more than surface level – I think it always has been for me.”

During the build-up to the winning reveal, Shakira receives a text that reads: ” Islanders. Tonight you will have a very special finalists’ dinner. #FinalFeels #OneLastEvening,” and she, along with Harry, and the remaining couples Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes, Ty Isherwood and Angel Swift, as well as Cach Mercer and Toni Laites will all be seen in the garden wearing their finest for their last night in the villa.

Toni says to Cach: “I don’t think I tell you enough but the way you treat me has made this whole wacky-ass experience worth it. I think everyone has seen how happy you make me. I’m really thankful to be here with you. In response, Cach says to Toni: I feel like our journey has been a rollercoaster, I’m grateful for every moment. You make me feel very comfortable in here. And I don’t think I could’ve done it with anyone else to be honest with you.

Angel then decides to tell Ty that she is ‘everything’ she looks for in a man, and adds: “You’re thoughtful, you make me laugh, and I also fancy the pants off you. I couldn’t be happier.”

In response, Ty tells her: “I want to thank you and the Love Island gods for sending you in. I feel like it was at a time when I didn’t know where I was. You came at the perfect time. You’re everything that I look for in a girl. I feel like I am really falling for you.”

Meanwhile, Yas reflects on her journey with Jamie and declares to him: “You just get me completely. I don’t tell you enough but I’m so genuinely appreciative of you and everything you’ve done for me in here. You’ve made me so happy,” and Jamie responds with: “Obviously when I came into the Villa, I sat down and had a conversation with you – instantly the energy was matched and I knew from that moment you were the girl that I wanted to be spending my time with in here.”

Shakira and Harry are currently the bookies’ favourites to win the whole series and walk away with the cash prize of £50,000, with odds of 10/11 whilst Toni and Cach have odds of 7/4, Yasmin and Jamie’s odds stand at 4/1 and Angel and Ty are at 20/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The odds have spoken and it looks as though Shakira and Harry have peaked at just the right time… punters reckon they’ll finish in first place ahead of Toni and Cach, with Yasmin and Jamie rounding out the podium places tonight.” However, Harry’s time in the villa has not been without its controversy.

The part-time player had caught the eye of both Shakira and Helena among others during his time in the villa. So Harry’s club, who play in the Southern Premier League, asked his pals back in the UK which woman he is better suited to. Even manager Paul Johnson waded in on the TikTok video, musing: “Bin off Shakira, 100 per cent. She’s a drip, nosy b***h.”

And the comments kept coming as a squad member went on: “Get rid of Shakira, she is as annoying as f**k,” as another helpfully mused: “I don’t care, just get him back here and get him running.” When it came time for contestants to meet the families of their co-stars, one fan savagely predicted he would be going ‘straight to hell’ for the way he had behaved.

They wrote on X: “finally caught up to love island UK…Harry, you’re going straight to hell’ as the famous section of the show geared up to return. One viewer felt so passionate about not wanting Harry and Shakira to be together that they admitted they ‘not watch the rest’ of the series if that is the way things go.

Love Island fans vow to call Ofcom as they fume over ‘nasty’ treatment of Shakira

Love Island viewers have threatened to report the show to Ofcom over scenes where Islander Shakira Khan was left sobbing over her treatment by the boys including Conor Phillips

Love Island viewers have threatened to “call Ofcom” as they criticised the “nasty” treatment of one girl in the villa. Fans of the reality dating show saw things take a savage turn among the residents after the latest recoupling.

Shakira Khan and Conor Phillips officially became a thing after they ditched their Casa Amor partners to couple up.

However, as the latest challenge – Couples of Sorts – saw the Islanders learn what viewers really think of them all hell broke loose. As Harrison Solomon was selected as part of a “one-sided” couple, he admitted: “I think Conor and Shakira should be up here.

“We had a conversation – me, you and H – basically what was said was, you like him more than Ty. But I don’t think you like Con as much as you like Harry.”

Love Island
Shakira was seen distraught

Moving on to another category Shakira then admitted to Conor: “I’d laugh if this was us now.” However, when she got a frosty reception from him for her joke, she then swiped: “Oh, he’s not laughing, okay.”

After the game Conor went for a chat with Harrison, Harry and Dejon, as they mulled over the events of the challenge. Following that discussion he pulled Shakira for a chat, where she slammed what the other boys had been saying to him as “b******s”.

She added: “It’s been twisted. I told you that and you just wanted to believe the boys straight away.” Shakira was then seen breaking down in tears and sobbing as she discussed the argument with Toni, saying: “Why are they trying to create this narrative like I’m obsessed with [Harry]? I don’t get it.

“They’re all just so fake! I’m surrounded by fake f*****g people who smile in your face and chat s**t about you behind your back.”

Spurred on by seeing her bestie upset by the boys the next day Toni called out Harry, Harrison and Dejon for their behaviour as she ripped into them for reducing Shakira to tears.

Viewers were left disgusted by the scenes and took to X to slam the behaviour. One wrote: “Everybody should write to ofcom because the way Shakira Khan has been treated is nasty #LoveIsland.”

A second added: “The boys reaction to Shakira being upset is telling everything about them.” A third said: “Seeing shakira that upset is so heartbreaking #LoveIsland I can’t watch these villainous men anymore.”

While a fourth social media user shared: “I’m not joking after this episode, I will write a letter to ofcom about how the islanders are mistreating Shakira.” A fifth agreed: “Ofcom will be hearing from me, these people are bullying shakira.”

Watch the VERY awkward moment Helena completely blanks Harry and Shakira in dramatic recoupling – did you spot it?

LOVE Island’s Helena Ford completely blanked Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan in tonight’s dramatic recoupling.

In a very awkward moment from the latest installment, the cabin crew member, 29, crossed her arms and inched away from the pair after they cemented their couple status.

Shakira, 22, gushed over the footballer as she said: “He boils my blood. He’s hilarious, witty, charming and funny. And he’s not bad looking.

“So the boy I would like to couple up with is… Harry.”

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans went wild after spotting the move.

One joked, “Not Helena moving away from harry,” with a laughing emoji, while someone else said: “Helena moving away from Harry is just so…. #LoveIsland.”

A third chimed in with: “Shakira picked harry wow the face on helena.”

While a fourth pointed out: “how’s helena upset that harry’s moved on when she said they’re done?”

Harry, 30, was previously seen sobbing as he appeared to backtrack on his behaviour towards Helena.

The ITV2 star caused shockwaves in the villa last week when he split with his day one partner – before he attempted to pursue a third different romantic connection in the compound just hours later.

Viewers previously begged Helena to stop being a “doormat” and dump Harry for good after he finally admitted to snogging Yasmin in the Hideaway.

His confession prompted the blonde beauty to storm off – before her villa pal Megan Forte Clarke, 24, unleashed a sweary rant.

Love Island’s Harry reveals surprising encounter with A-list actress, boasting ‘I think I had a chance’

In scenes aired on last night’s Aftersun, Harry appeared to have huge regret on calling time on his connection with Helena.

A video shows him in tears as he sat with Dejon, who said if he could have it his way he would see the pair together.

Semi pro footballer Harry, with tears in his eyes, replied: “Yeah. Like, we just have nothing. Do you know what I mean?”

He then paused to dab his face and added: “Where it’s just like, we were good and then it’s just like she can’t even be around me.

“Geez. It’s just weird man.

“Like it’ll never be the same now after the way I’ve acted, do you know what I mean?”

The official Love Island account on X posted the caption: “The consequences of Harry’s antics hit home.”

Yet many thought he was having a taste of his own medicine following his lothario conduct.

One fan was quick to write: “Crying as if all of this wasn’t his own doing. Men lack accountability fr.”

A second posted: “If it isn’t the consequences of your own actions….”

A third noted: “He’s realised he’s exhausted all his options that man does not want to be with Helena,” while one agreed and put: “And tomorrow he’ll want Emily we can’t predict his next move.”

One then mused: “Some self reflection is always good.”

SNEAKY SNOG

The final nail in the coffin for Helena and Harry came after his kiss with Yasmin.

Confident Yasmin initiated the smooch after Harry admitted he enjoyed their initial kiss in a villa challenge.

She told him bluntly: “I’m waiting for you to shut up and kiss me.”

Harry duly obliged and went all in. He grabbed Yasmin by the throat and bit her lip as they gave in to desire.

Yasmin was just as handsy, leaving her mark on Harry by scratching his neck.

But despite their snog, neither Harry nor Yasmin admitted to it when they returned from the Hideaway.

That was until their actions were exposed in a brutal firepit game on Thursday night.

Helena was left in shock as Yasmin revealed they’d kissed not once, but three times.

Megan finished by telling Harry: “Grow a pair of b******* mate, honestly, grow the f*** up.”

Yet Helena has also come under fire from matchmaking show fans who insist they have discovered her “game plan”.

Shakira speaks out on the ‘constant fear’ immigrants face in the U.S.

Amid ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids happening in Los Angeles and across the country, Shakira is opening up about the realities of being an immigrant in the United States.

The 48-year-old singer spoke with the BBC last week about moving as a teenager from her native Colombia to Miami in the ’90s.

“I was only 19 when I moved to the US, like many other Colombian immigrants who come to this country looking for a better future,” she said. “And I remember I was surrounded by Spanish-English dictionaries and synonym dictionaries because back in the day I didn’t really have Google or ChatGPT to [help].”

Further commenting on her “very precarious” situation, Shakira noted that she used the works of poet Walt Whitman and singer-songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan to refine her English skills.

But beyond the language learning pains, the “Estoy Aquí” artist spoke on the emotional toll of the immigrant experience.

“It means living in constant fear. And it’s painful to see,” Shakira said. “Now, more than ever, we have to remain united. Now, more than ever, we have to raise our voices and make it very clear that a country can change its immigration policies, but the treatment of all people must always be humane.”

This isn’t the first time Shakira has touched on the subject of immigration in recent months.

While accepting the Latin pop album Grammy for “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” in February, the “Whenever, Wherever” singer dedicated her award to her “immigrant brothers and sisters in this country”

“You are loved, you are worth it and I will always fight with you,” she said.

Shakira’s recent words of solidarity with the immigrant community came as other major Latin American music acts used their platforms to condemn the ICE raids and align their sympathies with immigrants. Becky G, Ivan Cornejo, Fuerza Regida, Junior H, Grupo Frontera and Maná were among the acts to publicly voice concern for the immigrant community.

Love Island’s Shakira risks feud with co-star as bold decision sparks tension

There could be our first bit of drama on Love Island this week, as a possible feud was teased.

One girl’s bold decision sparked tension in the villa, and even led to a co-star making an equally brazen decision. Two girls sparked a rivalry over the same man, with one vowing not to be left single.

Maya Jama had tasked Islander Shakira with wooing one of the boys after being left single by her own partner Ben during Monday’s episode. New girl Toni had just entered the villa as a bombshell and claimed Ben for herself.

Maya warned Shakira that if she did not strike up a connection with another boy in 24 hours, then she would be sent home. So on Tuesday night we saw the Islander getting to work, grafting with the boys.

As she spent time with them to try and find a connection, desperate to stay in the villa, she certainly sparked concern amongst the other girls. It had been revealed that if Shakira picked a boy and they agreed to couple up with her, then that person’s current girl would be dumped instead of Shakira.

With the pressure on, Shakira made some bold moves by getting to know the guys and pulling them for chats, keeping them away from their current partners. But one girl was far from happy, and soon had the backing of her fellow Islanders.

Megan took matters into her own hands as she witnessed her boy Tommy speaking with a flirty Shakira. Clearly worrying about being dumped, she shared her fears with her co-stars, with Meg, Helena and Dejon all telling her not to sit back and let it happen.

As she prepared to “claim her man” she brazenly walked over and interrupted Shakira and Tommy’s cosy chat. She took him to the terrace, far away from her new rival, before confessing she was “jealous”.

With the girls clearly rattled by Shakira’s plan it certainly got tense – but a kiss between Megan and Tommy sealed they were definitely on the right track. But could Shakira’s actions in the villa spark drama with the others or even Megan going forward if she manages to survive the looming dumping?

It comes after fans questioned some “missing scenes” after some drama between two Islanders. Just last night on the series fans saw the couples formed, before bombshell Toni caused carnage.

While some couples were clearly thrilled by their pairings, others were not. Shakira and Ben even had a frosty moment just moments before Toni entered the villa and stole him.

Ben had claimed to Maya that their pairing was “love/hate” sparking confusion with fans. Many wondered if they’d missed some scenes, unsure why the couple were already “bickering” as one of their co-stars put it just hours into the show.

They’d had a chat before Toni’s entrance where Ben had seemed to hint he was already thinking about who else might come in, and he didn’t seem interested. Fans picked up on this, also noting Shakira didn’t look impressed by their chat.

As some viewers wondered if a secret row had not been aired, one fan posted on X: “I think Shakira was disappointed with Ben’s answers,” while another guessed: “Ben saying he’s not sure if he can put up with Shakira has gone right into red flag territory.” A third fan said: “Ben doesn’t like Shakira AT ALL!”

A fourth fan wrote: “Feeling horrible for Shakira right now Ben is not even trying to hide the fact he does not like her at all.” A further post read: “I said he doesn’t like Shakira.”

Other fans shared their confusion over the sudden tension between them. A fan posted: “Did I miss something between Shakira and Ben, wdym love/hate relationship? The first day isn’t even over yet.”
