‘Woke nonsense’ – Fans all have same problem with Fulham kit change for Man Utd clash that ‘just looks so wrong’

PREM FANS have taken to social media to complain about Fulham’s kit change during their clash with Man Utd.

The Cottagers’ new home shirt for this season is a clean, white design in keeping with their iconic look.

However, the West Londoners have stepped away from their traditional black shorts in favour of a matching white look.

Some fans watching their first home game of the season have commented on the look, with the reaction from neutrals being overwhelmingly negative.

One X user said: “Fulham in all-white kit is woke nonsense.”

Another doubled down on its unrecognisable look, saying: “Fulham without Black shorts just looks so wrong.”

One repeated sentiment was that the loss of their signature black shorts also took away some of the team’s identity on the pitch.

A third user elaborated: “Gotta be honest I do not like these white shorts. It doesn’t feel like I’m watching Fulham.”

A fourth even compared them to a London rival, saying: “Fulham’s all-white kit is a bit Tottenham. Needs black shorts to balance it out.”

The apparent lack of identity did not hold them back on the pitch, as they fought back from a deficit to rescue a draw against United.

Bruno Fernandes’ horrific missed penalty in the first half seemed to have been redeemed when Leny Yoro‘s header deflected off Rodrigo Muniz’s back and into the net.

But Emile Smith Rowe poked home an equaliser soon after with one of his first touches of the match, just minutes after being introduced off the bench.

Catholic clergy: ‘It is time to end this nonsense’ in Gaza

July 22 (UPI) — The Catholic Church’s Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem called on regional and world leaders to end the violence in Gaza after Thursday’s deadly church shelling.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and Patriarch Theophilos III, Patriarch of Jerusalem, and other clergy toured the remains of the Catholic Church of the Holy Family in northern Gaza on Tuesday.

They called for an end to the war during a press conference held afterward at the Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center in Israel.

“We entered a place of devastation, but also of wonderful humanity,” Pizzaballa told media.

“We walked through the dust of ruins, past collapsed buildings and tents everywhere: in courtyards, alleyways, on the streets and on the beach — tents that have become homes for those who have lost everything,” Pizzaballa said.

“And yet, in the midst of all this, we encountered something deeper than the destruction: the dignity of the human spirit that refuses to be extinguished,” he continued.

“We met mothers preparing food for others, nurses treating wounds with gentleness, and people of all faiths still praying to the God who sees and never forgets.”

Pizzaballa called on regional and world leaders to find a way to restore “life, dignity and all lost humanity” in Gaza.

“It is time to end this nonsense, to end the war and put the common good of people as the top priority,” he said.

Patriarch Theophilos III called Gaza a “land bruised by prolonged affliction and pierced by the cries of its people” after touring the church’s grounds.

“We entered as servants of the suffering Body of Christ, walking among the wounded, the bereaved, the displaced and the faithful whose dignity remains unbroken despite their agony,” Theophilos III said.

“We encountered a people crushed by the weight of war, yet carrying within them the image of God,” he said.

“Among the broken walls of the Church of the Holy Family and the wounded hearts of its faithful, we witnessed both profound grief and unyielding hope.”

Theophilos III said, “Silence in the face of suffering is a betrayal of conscience,” and called on the international community to make peace in Gaza.

Two were killed and several injured, including a priest who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, when the IDF shelled the church.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday apologized for Israel Defense Forces shelling the Catholic church, which is the only one in Gaza.

He said a “stray ammunition” struck the church, and Israeli officials are investigating the matter.

Local residents and displaced Gazans were using the church for shelter when it was struck.

Iran’s Khamenei slams ‘nonsense’ US nuclear demands | Nuclear Weapons News

Negotiations between Washington and Tehran looking shaky as Iran resists US negotiator Witkoff’s ‘red line’.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has derided demands from the United States that it halt nuclear enrichment as negotiations between the two countries hang in the balance.

“Saying things like ‘We will not allow Iran to enrich uranium’ is nonsense. No one [in Iran] is waiting for others’ permission,” said Khamenei in a speech reported by the country’s semi-official Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.

He added that he did not know whether talks would “bring results”.

Since mid-April, Washington and Tehran have held four rounds of Omani-mediated talks aimed at getting Iran to limit its nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.

However, repeated clashes between the pair have thrown the next round of negotiations, which the news agency Reuters said were expected to take place in Rome at the weekend, into doubt.

US President Donald Trump ditched the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed by Iran and world powers during his last term in office. Intent on striking a new deal since his return to power in January, he has revived his “maximum pressure” approach against Iran, warning last week that talks needed to “move quickly or something bad is going to happen”.

Tehran confirmed on Tuesday that it has received and is reviewing a US proposal, but Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi had said the previous day that talks would fail if Washington insisted that Tehran refrained from domestic enrichment of uranium, which the US says is a possible pathway to developing nuclear bombs.

Iran currently enriches uranium to 60 percent, far above the 3.67-percent limit set in the 2015 deal but below the 90 percent needed for a nuclear warhead. It has repeatedly insisted its programme is for peaceful purposes and is “non-negotiable”.

However, US negotiator Steve Witkoff has dubbed the continuation of the programme a “red line”. On Sunday, he reiterated that the US “cannot allow even 1 percent of an enrichment capability”.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that a deal ensuring Iran would not have nuclear weapons was “within reach”.

However, he underlined, Iran would continue enriching uranium “with or without a deal”.
