France is synonymous with its sun-drenched vineyards, bustling boulevards and medieval castles. A trip over the British Channel is one many make from the UK for a weekend break or longer. But one influencer has taken the extreme route and managed to find a genius way to make a day trip to France affordable.

While the Eurostar is famed for offering easy travel to places like Paris and Brussels, there’s one underrated gem in France that TikTok personality Laura Teagle says foodies and day-trippers must visit. While train fares continue to soar, making enjoyable days out across Britain increasingly costly, Laura has a handy trick to make a day trip to France easy and friendly on the wallet.

Posting under @teagleeats, Laura shared with her audience how she managed to secure discounted Eurostar fares. The influencer nabbed £39 railway tickets to a French destination she described as “gorgeous” at a lower cost than journeying between major British cities.

Laura chronicled her excursion to Lille, a “charming” city situated just inside the border with Belgium. She opened her post declaring: “When a day trip to France is cheaper than a day out in London you best believe I’m going.”

Laura – who also operates her own confectionery enterprise called Teagle’s Treats – outlined how she obtained the budget-friendly train fares. In a TikTok video following her post showcasing her adventure to Lille, she revealed: “Okay I didn’t realise this wasn’t common knowledge but I’m gonna tell you the best life hack for travelling to France for cheap.

“So I’m always going straight to the Eurostar website, then once I’m there instead of typing in a date, a time and location, I’m gonna go down and I’m gonna search for this – the book now button for Paris for £39. When you get there you’ll see this: all these different locations all from £39 each way.

“The next trick is to go all the way through the calendar and see where all of these £39 dates are and choose the one that’s most appropriate. So in this case I choose January 17 and then obviously to return on the same day, I’m gonna click the same date.

“Then we’re gonna choose ‘get times’ and we’re gonna be presented with this screen. Then I’m gonna swipe through all of the different times and choose the cheapest or the best time available.

“So in this case it’s a 7:04 train for £44 and for the return, I’m gonna do the exact same thing. I’m gonna swipe choose the best cheapest price for the latest train so the 7:35pm.

“And that’s literally it. That is how you travel to France for the day for so cheap.”

Throughout her adventure in Lille, Laura and her mate explored numerous bakeries to taste the regional delicacies. Following her 7am departure from London aboard Eurostar, she and her companion popped into a Lille supermarket to grab some brie for €1 (87p).

She described the “gorgeous” stroll to a patisserie, where she tasted pain au chocolat that she dubbed “literally the best” and declared she craved “75 more” of the bakery’s eclairs. Following that, it was a morning exploring the Palais des Beaux-Arts museum.

Laura branded it a “must go” destination for merely €4 (£3.5). Another bakery visit ensued, where she sampled Lille’s renowned brioche and suggested tourists should also savour the wonderful cuisine available. She continued: “Being close to Belgium we obviously had to check out beer shops” before making a beeline for Méert, a bakery that’s become an internet sensation for its delectable treats.

Laura enthused: “I don’t care that this is hyped up online and the queues are long, you have got to go.” She posted a snap of a vanilla tartlet from the bakery, confessing she “literally dribbled” while capturing the shot.

She reiterated: “I’ll say it again. God! Bless! The! French!” Laura and her companion then enjoyed an alfresco lunch, featuring a cheese board that left her “speechless” and saucisson, a French sausage she dubbed “our actual fave”.

After sampling some local booze, they made their way to the Lille flea market which she declared was “100% worth the visit”. Their next stop was Au Point Central, a bistro offering €5 glasses of Pinot Noir.

Come dinner time, Laura and her friend hit Cafe de Paris for a “perfect” sirloin steak, fries and a salad at a cost of €25 (£22). Laura’s final verdict was unequivocal.

She declared: “I will absolutely be continuing to advocate for getting the first train out/last train back on Eurostar on all and any occasions.

“£150 all in return trains, all food, drinks and activities like London could just never? Grab your passport, grab your girls and go flirt with the French, eat their food and drink their wine.”

One American traveller has given her verdict of a luxury steam train trip to Bath, however there was one thing about the experience that had her online following stunned – the price of it.

Influencer Eryn Krouse took a trip on a British steam train adventure via the Belmond British Pullman service. The luxury vintage train carries passengers all over the country, including on a special day trip to ‘Historic Bath’. However, her fans have been left slack-jawed at the cost of a trip aboard the historic train.

The British Pullman is so fancy, it requires its own dress code that passengers must adhere to while enjoying four-course meals and bottomless brunches.

The train doesn’t just carry travellers to their destination, but whisks them back through the decades. This magnificent train provides sumptuous journeys throughout the nation, including visits to grand historical properties like Highclere Castle and Burghley House.

Excursions depart from London Victoria and sweep guests through Britain’s glorious countryside, showcasing varied terrain and breathtaking panoramas.

The compartments are absolutely remarkable, with travellers relishing every element, especially the Cygnus, designed by filmmaker Wes Anderson. Food lovers are treated to a feast as every train package features mouth-watering cuisine, from a five-course meal accompanied by champagne to delicate pastries and fragrant teas.

Passengers must follow a rigorous dress code, and can participate in various special activities on the train including a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea or a Murder Mystery Lunch. The service also ventures to the West Country on a distinctive ‘Historic Bath’ expedition, which is where one social media star travelled on the 1920s-style locomotive.

Content creator Eryn Krouse, originally from Southern California, filmed her journey on the British Pullman during a day trip to Bath. The social media personality revealed the excursion had “been on my bucket list for a while”.

Eryn and her friend were treated to a “beautifully set up” table and a brunch that kicked off with a Bellini, which she said was “kept full” by the attentive staff. The journey to Bath offered stunning views of “lots of lush, green countryside with beautiful flowers, quaint farmhouses and tons of cows and sheep”.

After savouring a “yummy” main course of smoked Scottish salmon with caviar, an English muffin and a poached egg, she took time to explore the cabin cars – including the one designed by Wes Anderson. Eryn noted that “even the bathroom is stunning” before she and her friend ventured out to explore Bath.

They had around two-and-a-half hours to wander around the city, visiting the Roman Bath Museum and Jane Austen Museum before returning to London. Once back on the train, she found her table prepared for an early dinner service featuring a lavish four-course meal.

She shared: “Our four-course meal started off with yet another champagne toast and a bottle of rose. This fried haddock ball was probably the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted.

“The bread was warm and fresh and I definitely helped myself to seconds. The main course was this lamb, beautifully presented. I’m not the biggest fan of lamb, but I enjoyed it anyway.

“Then a cheese selection followed by a rhubarb pie was served and we got back to London full and very sleepy. It was an incredible experience and worth every penny.”

However, social media users were left gobsmacked by the hefty price tag of £620 per passenger. One user gasped: “Gosh that’s super expensive!”

Not all trips come with such a steep price, with a solo table starting at £560 for a trip to Bath in April 2026.

A man who was in Turkey on holiday has shared a word of warning – but other people have said that they disagree with his assessment of the country and its prices

Turkey remains amongst the most favoured holiday destinations for Brits, with an impressive 4.4 million UK tourists flocking to the nation in 2024. Time Out reported this positioned Turkey as the eighth most sought-after tourist hotspot for UK holidaymakers, trailing behind destinations such as Spain, France, and Greece, though visitor numbers continue climbing annually.

Nevertheless, if you’re considering Turkey as your next getaway, one Welsh bloke has a stark warning: “Don’t bother”. Not many people are aware that on all long-haul flights, passengers can snag certain items for free regardless of what they’ve paid for their seat. Rachel Bernabeu is a content creator based in Barcelona who’s an expert in travel.

She recently posted a video on TikTok explaining what products passengers could nab for free on long haul flights.

If that’s you, then listen up, as the exact date to get “super cheap” EasyJet flights for next summer has been announced, according to Martin Lewis‘ Money Saving Expert. The MSE Facebook account shared the news in a post with its 412,000 followers recently, and the post quickly went viral as many travel lovers planned to bag their cheap flights.

Sharing the news, MSE wrote: “Heads up! Super cheap EasyJet flights for summer 2026 are landing on Tuesday July 22.

“If previous releases are anything to go by, being online bright and early is the key to bagging a bargain.”

According to the MSE website, Easyjet releases its flights in batches every quarter of the year – and if you discover what day they’re going to be launched and you book them them quickly, you can get a far cheaper price.

It adds: “EasyJet follows a dynamic demand pricing model – in other words, when there’s lots of demand for seats, you pay more; when there’s less demand, you pay less. Usually it can be tricky to predict, and prices are fluid.

“There’s one point when demand is almost always low… the very second seats are released. This happens in several tranches throughout the year. In the past, these seats have shot up in price within two or three hours of being made available, so being online bright and early is the key to bagging a bargain.”

“Though of course, if a particular flight is very substantially under-booked later on, you could get seats even cheaper then – that’s just far more difficult to predict.”

What time will the flights be released?

Easyjet hasn’t announced when the flights will go on sale. It says that customers looking to book early and get great fares for next summer should keep an eye on the Easyjet website from early in the morning.”

According to MSE, the tickets “tend to go on sale as early as 5am or 6am, but sometimes it hasn’t released seats until 8am, and it could depend on the location.”

Taking your child to Disneyland, Paris, is something most parent dreams of when they have kids. However, if you’re planning to take your little one to Disney anytime soon, then I suggest you start saving up for the trip now.

Of course, we all know the accessories on sale at Disneyland aren’t going to be cheap, but I was left a little startled by just how expensive a few things were when I went there with my toddler last week. Getting prepared, I ordered us some mouse ears online before we went there as I knew my three-year-old would want some and they would be expensive in the theme park. However, when I went to pack, I had completely misplaced his ears – something I knew would be a costly mistake.

Of course, as soon as we started walking up to the park and he saw everyone wearing mouse ears, he had to have some. I offered him mine but then when he saw the other sparkly versions on sale, he decided he wanted to pick his own. These will set you back €25 (£22) each, so they don’t come cheap – especially if you have more than one child.

He was happy with his ears, however once he saw some other kids with the Disney bubbles he just had to have those too. He is madly into Spider-Man at the moment and had his heart set on those bubbles, which were again another €25, plus another €2 (£1.70) for a bubble refill.

As he chomped his way through an €8 (£7) popcorn and a €4.50 (£4) ice cream, things were starting to add up.

It was then onto lunch and my little one and his dad had hotdogs, which were €10 (£9) each and then €3.59 (£3) for fries and a €3.49 50cl drink. Meanwhile, I opted for a vegan chilli, which was €8 (£7), but was very tasty.

We also treated ourselves to some chocolate-covered waffles later in the day, which I think were around €5 (£4.30) each.

The only other thing we spent out on were some fast passes for one of the rides. You can pay €90 (£80) to get you on all of the rides quicker, however we didn’t bother with that, considering our toddler couldn’t go on everything and that’s nearly the same price our ticket cost. Instead, you can also buy individual fast track passes for a ride of your choice, which we did for Orbitron, which cost us €5 (£4.30) for both adults.

So all in all, we did spend quite a lot, however, having only one child, it did make things a bit cheaper. I didn’t actually know that Disneyland also allows you to bring in your own food into the park, so if you’re prepared, you might want to pack lunch and snacks if you want to save a bit of cash there.

Those who are planning to take a toddler may want to do what we did and take them just before their third birthday as they get in for free up until they’re three. My little man managed to stay awake the whole time we were there from 10:30am to 6:30pm at night and enjoy himself on the rides, but if he was any younger I do think he would have struggled a bit with the long day and would have had to have a nap.

As well as Disneyland, he also travelled on the Eurostar free, which they can do up until they’re four.

So am I a bit sore about paying £22 for bubbles? Well yes, it wasn’t ideal. But to be fair, they made his day and brought him joy, and as parents, we know that’s priceless!

Ryanair passengers were treated to an unexpected surprise by a man on the flight who wanted to spread kindness with a wonderful gesture and make it the “happiest plane in the sky”

A spontaneous act of generosity on a Ryanair flight left passengers so moved that some were reduced to tears. Air travel often brings stories of seat disputes or complaints about fellow travellers, but one young man aimed to bring a wave of positivity aboard his Ryanair journey.

Staffordshire’s Sebbie Hall aspired to transform the aircraft into the “happiest plane in the sky.” In an attempt to “make someone a billionaire,” according to a crew member, Sebbie bought a scratchcard for every family group on the flight. A video on TikTok captures the moment Sebbie and the crew member distributed the cards to seated passengers.

One woman was visibly emotional, while another passenger gave Sebbie a handshake.

Despite living with a rare chromosome anomaly causing physical and communication challenges and learning disabilities, Sebbie continues to spread kindness.

The Ryanair crew member who helped Sebbie in distributing the scratchcards informed passengers that Sebbie has performed a random act of kindness daily for five years, beginning during lockdown to bring smiles to people’s faces.

He has raised more than £100,000 to aid disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK, earning him the title of UK kind hero last year.

The Ryanair staff member’s called for “an absolute round of applause” for Sebbie from passengers on board.

Another employee of the airline announced: “Sebbie wants to say ‘good luck strangers, no strings attached’ but if you win, could you please somehow let him know?” He doesn’t want your money but he’d like to know. Good luck!”

The TikTok clip featured delighted passengers brandishing their scratch cards showing how pleased they were with Sebbie’s selfless act.

The post racked up more than 800 comments, as curious users asked about any potential winners.

Sebbie responded, confessing that he was unaware of any victories, “but they were happy.”

Many comments celebrated the sweet gesture, one user said: “The lady sobbing would be me if I was on this flight.”

An impressed Ryanair crew member added: “As Ryanair crew, this is incredible! What a smashing young man.”

A third chimed in: “Oh Sebbie, what a wonderful thing to do. We need more Sebbies in the world.”

Emotionally touched, a fourth viewer commented: “I’m definitely not laid in bed bawling my eyes out.” Someone else praised Sebbie as a “real life angel.”

In March 2022, the Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation was set up, providing financial support for initiatives promoting inclusion for disabled young people and offering communication, arts, and sports resources to families and organisations working with individuals aged 16 and above.

Kindness is Sebbie’s ‘superpower’, and in a recent act of generosity, he distributed Fab ice lollies to passers-by on a warm day, telling them they are ‘fab’.

A British woman named decided to travel all the way to Foshan in China in order to buy all the furniture she’d need for her future home after hearing it was cheaper than the UK

As the USA issued new trade tariffs on products from across the world at the start of 2025, with China being hit with a 20% tariff, which was an increase from the 10% tariff it had been before, Chinese wholesale sellers took to social media to urge people to shop with them directly.

While these tariffs didn’t directly affect the UK, it didn’t stop British social media users to see the videos that Chinese sellers were making about being able to by luxury products to a fraction of brands’ prices directly from the factories and wholesalers. This includes everything from designer clothes to furniture and home goods.

Doctor Shirley Bekker was one of many viewers who saw these videos on TikTok, and decided to book a spontaneous shopping trip to China in May 2025 in order to buy all the furniture she’d need for her future flat.

As she arrived in Foshan in China, a city known for its high manufacturing output to the world, having 30 towns specialised in particular industries, including furniture, machinery, and beverages, Shirley decided to document her shopping trip on TikTok to show people the big savings she was making.

While Shirley herself hadn’t been convinced that travelling all the way to Foshan to buy furniture would be worth it, she quickly changed her mind when she found her ‘dream’ coffee table.

“It’s built on a solid wood platform, real glass on top, it’s really heavy, really durable, and just looks so luxe,” she said as she showed off the table, which also included wooded geometric details under the glass.

While it looked luxurious and expensive, she revealed that she’d only paid £150 for it, saying it cost her less than her HD frontal weave.

In her next video, she shared that she’d gotten a wooden dining table for £80, as well as customised chairs to go with it that matched the luxurious sofa she’d gotten for £340. She also made sure to get lamps and art to decorate her future how with as well.

While all of these sums do add up quickly, as she got home, Shirley decided to make a presentation to share how much money she’d saved after finding similar items sold in shops around the UK.

Starting off with the £80 wooden dining table she’d bought in China, she’d found an almost identical table being sold in B&Q for £349.99. While the import costs aren’t included in this comparison, Shirley saved £269.99 just from the table alone. Meanwhile, the two chairs she’d gotten for £65 each cost a whopping £990 each if she’d bought them in the UK.

Shirley continued to go through the comparisons for all the different items she’d bought, only to come to the conclusion to how much she’d save.

“So in conclusion, you flew to all the way to China with nothing but a Monzo, Google Translate, and praised hands. You ran around for six days and bought enough stuff to furnish a bedroom, balcony, renovate a bathroom, and have enough dinnerware to host the royal family,” the voiceover said.

It continued: “Had you stayed in the UK and bought all the same things, this little venture would have cost you a grand total of £21,800. But all because you took the plunge and bought it all in China instead, you spent a grand total of £3,690.56.”

While these calculations did not include the shipping costs to get her furniture from China to the UK, Shirley still saved herself a whopping £18,109.04, which will most likely be more than enough to cover the shipping costs.

A British mum decided to check out a supermarket in Switzerland, after she and her family packed up their life in the UK to travel the world, and showed how different the prices of groceries are

We’re all familiar with how much the prices have gone up in British supermarkets with weekly food shops getting more and more expensive but we’ve learnt to accept this and carry on buying the groceries we need. When going on holiday or travelling to a new country, it’s common to look at the prices of everyday items and compare them to the UK.

A family-of-five left the UK to travel the world and have been documenting their journey on TikTok where they are known as Fitch Family Adventures. The mum, who is not named, shared a video giving a tour of a supermarket in Switzerland and showed that the prices are even more expensive than in Britain. Switzerland is generally considered an expensive country, especially for tourists, with the cost of living, including accommodation, food and transport, being significantly higher than in many other European countries.

The Brit mum said: “We are in Switzerland and we’re about to go into the supermarket so I thought I’d show you how much some of the shopping costs here as it is known for being really, really expensive.”

She found a pack of Bio Tomaten Marzanino tomatoes for 4.95 Swiss Francs, equal to £4.52.

Then she had a look at the ready-made salads and found a caesar salad with caesar dressing for 6.80 Swiss Francs, which is £6.20, and another mixed salad with cucumber and red cabbage for 7.20 Swiss Francs, equal to £6.57.

Next, the British tourist spotted a variety of pizzas with toppings like black olives and deli meat for 12 Swiss Francs, which is £10.94.

After this she explored the sweet treats offerings and found a pack of four Munz ladybug chocolates for 4.75 Swiss Francs, equal to £4.33.

There was also a 186g box of Celebrations for 3.95 Swiss Francs (£3.60), a pack of Kinder Bueno chocolate bars for 2.80 Swiss Francs (£2.55), six packs of Smarties priced at 4.75 Swiss Francs (£4.33) and a Toblerone five pack with each bar weighing 100 grams, on sale for 13.20 Swiss Francs (£12.04).

Moving onto the bakery section, the mum saw a pack of crusty bread rolls for 3.10 Swiss Francs (£2.83) which she thought was “not too bad.”

Finally, she checked out the price of a pack of A4 paper, explaining that her children wanted to do some drawing, and found 500 sheets for 11.95 Swiss Francs, equal to £10.90.

One TikTok user asked: “How do people afford to live there?”, to which The Fitch family replied: “We definitely found it difficult to afford things as tourists.”

Switzerland is home to the supermarket chains Migros, Co-op, Denner, Aldi and Lidl but there are also higher end supermarkets, such as Manor Food and Globus.

International moving and relocation company Packimpex explains on its website that salaries in Switzerland in sectors like finance, healthcare and IT are often higher than the European average, leading to increased costs for essentials, as well as luxuries,

It adds: “The Swiss Franc, one of the world’s strongest currencies, further contributes to the high cost of living. This robust currency makes imported goods, which account for a significant portion of the market, more expensive.

“Everyday items such as groceries, clothing, and electronics often cost more than in neighbouring countries due to currency valuation and steep import duties.”

One man who bought breakfast, lunch and dinner in Bangkok, Thailand admitted he was stunned by the price of it all. He went online to talk about his travel experience

One man who went to get breakfast, lunch and dinner in Thailand admitted he couldn’t believe the price of it all. Ryan Losasso is one half of the popular award-winning TikTok travel content creation duo ‘Live The Dash’ alongside Jade Beaty.

He went out into the streets of Bangkok, Thailand’s capital city to buy his three meals on a budget. Bangkok is known for its bustling street life, including street food and markets. One of the most famous street food dishes is pad Thai, a classic stir-fried noodle dish with shrimp, egg and peanuts. Ryan took his TikTok viewers along with him as he explored the Thai food scene and couldn’t believe the price of his breakfast, lunch and dinner.

To start his culinary journey the travel influencer went to Siam House Cafe where he opted for a traditional Thai breakfast that was made up of egg, pork meat and toast for just £1.50.

Taking a bite of his meal, he said “mmm” and reported that his breakfast was a “roaring success.”

Next he moved onto lunch where he picked up a ham and cheese toastie and a bottle of water from 7-Eleven for £1.05.

Ryan continued: “I do not have much left for dinner but let’s see what we can do.” He “scoured Bangkok’s streets” for an affordable dish and spotted Hai Som Tam Convent where he tucked into a pad Thai for £2.30.

In total Ryan’s breakfast, lunch and dinner from Bangkok cost him a mere £4.85. Bangkok is a foodie paradise as it offers a “mix of delicious street food, budget-friendly restaurants and hidden gems serving world-class Thai cuisine”, according to H and L Blogs.

The travel blog website claims that Bangkok’s “cheap eats are everywhere”, such as wok-fried noodles in Chinatown or “authentic local curries served for just a few Baht in local markets.”

One Thai Baht is equal to 0.023 Great British Pounds so it is very easy to eat out on a budget in Bangkok.

H and L Blogs has listed some of the best budget food spots in Thailand’s capital city, including Yaowarat (Chinatown), best for street food like noodles and seafood, Or Tor Kor Market for fresh Thai ingredients and local dishes and Soi 38 Sukhumvit, a classic Bangkok night market with affordable meals.

Trip Savvy states that the average cost of a basic Thai meal in a restaurant is 90 to 150 Baht (£2.02 to £3.37) and pad Thai noodles with chicken or tofu can be found at street carts and from simple restaurants for 35 to 40 Baht (£0.35 to £0.90).

It adds that the average cost for pad Thai in tourist places is around 50 Baht (£1.12) per plate.

Ryan’s TikTok video showcasing how cheap it is to eat out in Bangkok has garnered thousands of views and likes and more than 100 comments.

One user simply said: “Thailand is very affordable.” While another exclaimed: “That pad Thai is a bargain!” A third described the cost of Ryan’s three meals as “so cheap.”

An American has flown to the UK for a unique challenge – and he literally cannot return home until it’s completed. Blake Robert, who is known on social media as @theblakerobert, landed in the UK with just a suitcase and his guitar.

Without a penny in his pocket, he aims to earn enough money busking on the streets of the UK to not only support himself while he’s in the country but to also fund his plane ticket home. He has been documenting his challenge on his TikTok channel, sharing exactly how much money he made in Bath on day three of his challenge.

In his video, he said: “I flew to the UK with no money and now I’ll have to survive off the money I make playing my guitar.”

After attending an open-mic night in Bath, he met up with a group of buskers to decide when and where he can play his music in the town centre.

He says the meet every morning to determine who get what spot to give each artist an opportunity to show off their talents while earning money for their performances.

The meeting concluded with him playing in three locations around that – with the first being right outside Bath Abbey.

At this location, he made £24, $5 (£3.70) and was also gifted a punnet of green grapes.

Just 15 minutes later, he was on to his next location slightly around the corner in Abbey Churchyard.

He says he only made £1 because it started to rain during his second set as everyone dodged the downpour in nearby shops, cafes and restaurants.

Finally, set up on Stall Street, he made £18 and pulled in a small crowd who supported his music with praise and a dance.

Hungry and tried, he ended up spending £15.25 on a steak and ale pie before booking himself into a £22 hotel, leaving him with only a £5.75 profit for the day providing he didn’t buy anything else and excluding his $5.

Commenting on his video, one user said: “Very bold move coming to the UK with no money but basically I’m really enjoying the content so keep it coming.”

Another user added: “If you are trying to save money there are much cheaper places you could go – Greggs, Weatherspoon’s, a local café. Pubs are pricey unless they are Weatherspoon’s. What other cities are you going to?”

A third user said: “I’m so invested in your journey! Bath is very expensive though!”

One more user added: “You are very near Bristol, you should go there!”
