Apple announces departure of two general counsel, VP of policy
Dec. 5 (UPI) — Tech giant Apple announced two of its top executives will depart and revealed their replacements.
Kate Adams, Apple’s general counsel, and Lisa Jackson, vice president for environment, policy an social initiatives will retire from the iPhone maker, Apple officials said Thursday.
Meta’s chief legal officer, Jennifer Newstead, is set to replace Adams as general counsel in March. Jackson’s staff in government affairs will begin reporting to Newstead late next year.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said he was “incredibly grateful” and “deeply appreciative” for Adams and Jackson’s work.
Their exit follows other top brass in recent weeks after Apple’s software design chief moved over to Meta while Apple’s artificial intelligence chief retires in addition to the company chief operating officer.
Adams, who led the tech conglomerate through antitrust and regulatory scrutiny, joined Apple as general counsel in 2017 from Honeywell.
Jackson led Apple’s DEI programming prior to serving as administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under then-President Barack Obama.
“I have been lucky to work with leaders who understand that reducing our environmental impact is not just good for the environment, but good for business, and that we can do well by doing good,” stated Jackson.
