Gogglebox favourites reveal major milestone in relationship – after being brutally axed from show

Gogglebox favourites Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle have revealed a major milestone in their relationship – just months after being axed from the Channel 4 show.

The couple announced they’re moving out of their flat in Glasgow as Roisin, 26, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt reel.

In the short clip, significant moments flashed up on-screen including when the pair first moved into the flat as well as decorating a Christmas tree.

This was followed by shots of the empty flat after they moved all of their belongings out of the home they once shared.

A background voice is heard saying: “It was official, a new season had begun. After all, seasons change, so do cities, people come into your life and people go but it’s comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart and if you’re very lucky, a plane ride away.”

She captioned the post: “Oh I will miss you flat #movingout.”

The move comes after Roisin and Joe, 28, were sensationally dumped from the iconic show earlier this year.

In July, the two took to social media to share: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore, we are leaving the Gogglebox family.

“We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights!”

They added: “It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”

“We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family!

“We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely. It for sure has been a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The pair, who were involved in a terrifying accident, wrapped with the words: “Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn.”

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said at the time: “We thank Joe and Roisin for their contributions to Gogglebox over the years, and wish them all the best for the future.”

The new series of Gogglebox kicked off last night but fans were left fuming after Roisin and Joe weren’t included in the line-up.

Taking to X, one raged: “What’s happened to Joe and Roisin, they were the funniest ffs.”

Another added: “Can’t believe they got rid of Roisin and Joe, some of the boring b******s on this they could of p***ed off.”

A third tweeted: “I’m missing Roisin and Joe already.”

Meanwhile a fourth begged: “Can someone explain why have we replaced the lovely Scottish couple with pretentious posh p****s who aren’t even funny. just noo f*** off!!”

Instead, the pair were replaced by a whopping five new families in the biggest cast shake-up in years.

Sisters from Edinburgh, a family from Surrey, friends from Glasgow, a married couple from the Cotswolds, and a mother and daughter-in-law from Yorkshire all joined the show in last night’s instalment.

Gogglebox shake-up as five new families join Channel 4 show and one couple departs

When the Channel 4 show returns tomorrow night for series 26 there will be a lot of fresh faces lighting up the screen – but what does it mean for the regulars?

Andrew and Alfie
Andrew and Alfie, a married couple with a 30-year age gap, are joining Gogglebox

Gogglebox is to be given a major overhaul with five new families joining the regulars for the new series from their sofas – after just one pair were axed.

Earlier this summer, it emerged that Scottish couple Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle were leaving the show after producers decided not to invite them back for the 26th run, which starts on Channel 4 tomorrow.

Now two new Scottish duos are among the incoming groups of telly watchers – pals Jake, 27, and Calum, 31, from Glasgow plus sisters Rosie, 68, and Susie, 70, from Edinburgh.

The Gordon family
Among the newcomers are the Gordon family, from Surrey

The show is also to get its oldest contributor in the form of 87-year-old Sara from Yorkshire, who will watch the box alongside her daughter-in-law Lara, 58.

The other two families are the Gordons from Surrey, comprising parents Andre, 49, and Sarah, 47, alongside their daughter Chee, 25 plus married couple Andrew, 62, and Alfie, 32, from the Cotswolds.

One insider said the changes were to “inject a bit of freshness” into the long-running show, which remains one of Channel 4’s best-loved titles after 13 years on air.

But the injection of new faces could cause stress for some of the Gogglebox regulars, who may feel they are now in danger of being pushed out in the coming months if the new arrivals prove popular.

Jake and Calum
Glasgow-based Jake and Calum are one of the two new Scottish duos brought in to replace outgoing pair Joe and Roisin

The series will showcase the new groupings on screen from tonight at 9pm. Mike Cotton, creative director for production company Studio Lambert, said it was “a delight” to welcome the fresh households into the Gogglebox family, adding: “Along with our much-loved returning cast, we can’t wait to join them in their living rooms and hear their candid thoughts on this weeks most talked about TV.”

They will join regular Goggleboxers pals Jenny and Lee, the Siddiqui family, the Malone family, married couple Giles and Mary, sisters Ellie and Izzi, Welsh married couple David and Shirley, the Plummer brothers, sisters Amira and Amani, the Worthington family, siblings Pete and Sophie, friends Abbie and Georgia, married couple Sue and Steve, siblings Simon and Jane, married couple Ronnie and Annie, pals Danielle and Daniella, married couple Teresa and Anita and parents Michael & Sally, who appear with their teen twins Jake and Harry.

Joe and Roisin took to social media in July to tell fans that they were not returning for the show’s next series. They wrote: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore, we are leaving the Gogglebox family.”

Thanking the producers, they added: “The experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights! It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said they wished the pair all the best for the future, adding: “We thank Joe and Roisin for their contributions to Gogglebox over the years.”

‘Penniless’ Gogglebox star ‘glad’ to be back on benefits after being made homeless

Sandra Martin, who shot to fame on Gogglebox, has admitted she’s ‘glad’ to be back on benefits

Former Gogglebox star Sandra Martin has confessed that she “prefers” life on benefits, stating it’s less stressful.

The 55-year-old telly favourite, who rose to fame alongside her best mate Sandi Bogle on the popular Channel 4 show, revealed she had to sign back on in February 2018 after her TV earnings dwindled.

Despite having credits from reality series 100 Years Younger in 21 Days and various chat show appearances, Sandra admitted the work was short-lived.

After leaving Gogglebox in 2017, she splurged the last of her earnings on a hotel stay. By Christmas of the same year, she confessed to being “homeless and penniless”, struggling to make ends meet.

In 2018, Sandra told The Sun: “I went back to the job centre and shouted, ‘Hello! I’m home!’ I was on benefits for 35 years before I went on Gogglebox. I’m glad I’m back on social. I loved Gogglebox, but it was stressful because I couldn’t talk as much as I wanted, when I wanted.”

Now, she says she feels more comfortable living on handouts than pursuing TV fame, despite critics highlighting her frequent posts about jetting off on holidays, reports the Express.

Sandra added, “I turned to benefits when the money ran out. It’s less stressful. I feel like myself again.”

In January of this year, Sandra faced further criticism after refusing to sit in a plane’s middle seat because she claimed to be a “celebrity.” The former fan-favourite expressed her displeasure at being allocated the middle seat on social media.

Sandra caused a stir on a Ryanair flight when she refused to sit between two passengers. She shared a video from inside the plane’s cabin, standing in the aisle in protest.

She told her followers: “There’s no person there, I’m not showing your face and there’s one person there and they want me to sit there. No, I’m a celebrity… I’m Sandra Gogglebox. I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”

“I cannot sit in that spot. No, I can’t breathe, I’m gonna faint, I’m gonna fart.”

Sandra said she was waiting until boarding was finished to see if there was a spare alternative seat.

In a kind gesture, her neighbour eventually agreed to swap places, and Sandra took the aisle seat for the flight.

BBC The One Show’s Roman Kemp’s struggle to find happiness after heartbreaking family comment

The One Show star Roman Kemp has opened up about his desire to have a family and how he believes it will be the moment he finds “true happiness”

The One Show’s Roman Kemp has confessed that he believes he hasn’t yet found “true happiness”. The 32 year old star has opened up about his longing to start a family one day.

Roman, who is famously close with his parents, Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp and former Wham! singer Shirlie Holliman, has often spoken about their unique parenting style. During an appearance on Loose Women in 2019, Martin revealed that he and Shirlie chose to raise Roman and his sister Harley more like “friends” than children.

Roman has described this approach as a “best friend thing”, admitting it made it easier for him to confide in his parents.

Now, the former Capital Breakfast host has shared his hopes of having a family of his own, believing that it will bring him a “sense of true happiness”. He made this revelation while discussing the concept of success with pop star and good mate Tom Grennan, reports the Express.

Roman elaborated: “I don’t think I’ll ever have that feeling of success until I have kids I can look at and go, ‘We did alright’. My parents never, ever said to us, ‘You need to be this, you’ve got to do that job, all my parents ever asked is, ‘Are you happy?’ All of those types of things and that, I think, would define success for me over anything.”

When asked by Tom if he was happy, Roman replied: “Sometimes, but you’re not human if you’re happy all the time. It’s working out work-life balance and that’s what I’ve tried to do ever since I left Capital. That’s one of the reasons that I left because I didn’t have that, I didn’t have a work-life balance, I didn’t understand it.

“You’ll know, when I send you a picture of a scan, or something like that, or when I tell you my child has been born, when I send you that text, you’ll know f*****g hell, he’s happy. Because I don’t think I’ve had that yet, that sense of true happiness.”

The star, who often shares the screen with his dad on shows like Celebrity Gogglebox, Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best! and Bromans, revealed his hopes for his future children to see their bond.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, he shared: “My dad and I get to work with each other all the time and I’m so lucky for that. The reason we work together is because I know how much I’m going to love my kids and my family watching that footage of me and their grandad working together – and that’s just our relationship.”

This comes as Roman is rumoured to be engaged to model Carmen Gaggero. As reported by WalesOnline, the couple have been an item since last year and made their relationship public last summer after being seen leaving Le Petit Maison in Mayfair.

Speculation about an engagement started when Carmen was spotted with a ring on her engagement finger during a night out in London. According to the publication, pals reckon Roman is prepared to “settle down”.

Roman will be returning to screens on The One Show from 7pm on BBC One tonight alongside co-host Clara Amfo. The pair will be joined by Gemma Arterton and Thomas Brodie-Sangster who will be discussing the film Grand Prix of Europe.

Celebrity Gogglebox fans say same thing after celebrity ‘replacement’ fears

Channel 4 viewers said the same thing just minutes into the season finale

Celebrity Gogglebox fans said the same thing on Friday (July 11) after recent star “replacement” fears.

Last week, Channel 4 viewers were left reeling after fan-favourite stars, Shaun Ryder and his friend Bez, were noticeably absent from the line-up of famous faces.

The former Happy Mondays bandmates have been part of Celebrity Gogglebox since 2019, and are known for offering their humorous commentary on various TV shows.

After Shaun and Bez didn’t appear on last week’s episode, many viewers were left concerned that the pair had been scrapped from the show. However, fans were relieved to see the pair back on their sofa during tonight’s season finale.

Alison Hammond’s son fled home after huge rows with mum in candid revelation

Alison Hammond’s son Aidan has revealed that as a child he would seek solace at his grandmother’s house which was across the road every time his mum annoyed him

Alison Hammond is best known for her bubbly personality while presenting This Morning along with Dermot O’Leary. However, according to her son and Celebrity Gogglebox co-star Aidan, the TV presenter wasn’t always a delight to live with.

Alison, 50, who soared to fame following her memorable stint on Big Brother back in 2002, made her Celebrity Gogglebox debut last night, critiquing TV shows with her rarely seen sister Saundra and her 20 year old son. Giving fans a more intimate account of his mother while growing up, Aidan revealed that he used to run away from home and stay with his grandmother, who lived across the road.

And this would happen on a regular basis every time he and Alison failed to agree on certain things. Speaking on the Spin Justice podcast, Aidan said: “When we were in the flat, she (his grandmother) had a house pretty much opposite us, so we could literally leave and run across the road.”

He added: “So when my mum was doing my head in, I’d just go to my nan’s.”

Before Alison’s mother Maria sadly passed away five years ago, the trio enjoyed an incredibly special bond. Aidan described their relationship as “very, very close”.

Despite his youthful age, Aidan is no stranger to the world of TV after appearing on a number of quiz shows with his mum and starring in their very own travel show, Florida Unpacked which aired on BBC Two.

He then went on to say: “She’s passed away now, but we were very close all the time – me, my mum and my nan – and that was kind of the little trio.”

Alison will sit along side her sister and son for their debut on the popular TV show, mugs in hand ready to analyse TV shows watched by the nation.

Speaking about sharing the moment with another family member apart from her son, Alison chimed in: “I’m so excited to be doing Celebrity Gogglebox with my son Aidan.”

She said: “We’ve always loved watching telly together, and now we get to do it on the sofa for the nation! It’s a real family affair too, because my fabulous sister Saundra is getting involved as well. “

The Great British Bake Off presenter then went on to say: “Expect laughs, eye-rolls, and lots of commentary, classic Hammond style!”

Alison and her family with join the cast of the new series for the charity Stand Up To Cancer.

A TV source reportedly told The Sun: “Producers were impressed by the dynamic between Aidan and his mum on their new travel show, so wanted a piece of it for Celebrity Gogglebox.”

They added: “They’re always looking for new duos to appear on the programme to keep it constantly feeling fresh, and, of course, fronting the Great British Bake Off means she’s already part of the C4 family.”

Gogglebox star Kate Bottley speaks out over ‘exploitative’ show after toll on family

Former Gogglebox cast member Reverend Kate Bottley, who appeared on the Channel 4 show with her husband Graham Bottley from 2014 to 2016, has spoken about the experience

Former Gogglebox cast member Reverend Kate Bottley has described the TV show as “quite intrusive” and “consensual exploitation”. She has now spoken about her experience almost a decade on from her decision to leave.

Kate, now 50, appeared on the Channel 4 show alongside her husband Graham Bottley and their late dog Buster from 2014 to 2016. The couple, who have two children, welcomed cameras into their home in Blyth during the several series that they took part in the long-running reality TV show.

Since leaving Gogglebox nine years ago, Kate has featured on several other shows including Songs of Praise and Pilgrimage: the Road To Santiago. The Church of England vicar also presents BBC Radio 2‘s Good Morning Sunday.

Kate reflected on her rise to fame on Gogglebox in an episode of the Walking the Dog podcast released yesterday. She said on the podcast: “I wish I’d known how much it took over our life for two and a half years. It’s reality TV. It’s by its nature … it’s consensual exploitation. […] It was quite intrusive, really. But y’know we consented to that intrusion.”

Reverend Kate Bottley in an orange jacket.

Speaking about her family, she went on to say: “My kids spent two and a half years sat in their bedrooms every Tuesday and Thursday night or whatever nights they came to film. My kids didn’t have friends round for a lot [of it and] didn’t have help with their homework. Things like that.”

Kate also claimed that they “got paid very little”. She said: “They paid but I cooked two nights a week for the crew.” She then said that she offered to cook because Graham “won’t eat takeaways” and she didn’t want to be filmed eating.

She said: “All the money we got from it went on the electricity, the internet connection that they were using and the food and being hospitable to six people in my home two nights a week. It’s a vicarage as well – I should be hospitable.

“We should be sharing our homes with people and eating food together and stuff. So y’know it was a good two and a half years but we couldn’t have done any more with it, I don’t think. It got to the point where we were just a bit overwhelmed.”

She’s since become a TV presenter and radio host, alongside her role as a vicar(Image: Instagram/revkatebottley)

Asked if that was why she left, she said on the podcast: “Yeah.” She however then claimed that she wasn’t able to take part in other TV shows whilst under contract for Gogglebox despite wanting to “have a go” at other opportunities.

She continued by saying: “Also, there’s quite tight exclusivity and rightly so because if you’re filming ordinary people sat on their sofa watching TV you can’t then have those people on the TV. It sort of breaks the fourth wall too much.”

Kate said she was offered shows like Would I Lie To You? – which she has since appeared on – but wasn’t allowed to take part because Gogglebox “wouldn’t let you do it”. She said: “There was stuff coming in that I wanted to have a go at which I just wasn’t able, contractually, to do.”

The former cast member then revealed that she gave an “excuse” when she left Gogglebox in 2016. She said: “And it so happened that it came around the time Ruby was doing her GCSEs so the excuse we gave was ‘we’re gonna take some time away while she does her exams’.”

Gogglebox star Mary Killen admits she’s addicted to vaping – despite never smoking

Gogglebox fan favourite Mary Killen has revealed that she’s become ‘addicted’ to vaping in her 60s, despite having never smoked a cigarette – as she reveals her plans to quit

Googlebox fan favourite Mary Killen has revealed she’s become addicted to vaping, despite never having smoked cigarettes.

The star rose to fame in 2015 on Channel 4’s Gogglebox as she and her husband Giles have the nation in hysterics every week as they sit down to watch the latest TV shows.

Despite knowing the ins and outs on their thoughts on the latest episode of Love Island, fans aren’t privvy to much of the Gogglebox stars’ personal life. However, Mary has now opened up about an addiction she just can’t shift – vaping.

Mary, who says she was never interested in cigarettes, revealed that she picked the habit up two years ago, when her friends son, James, 22, offered her a puff of his Juul. “I loved inhaling the odourless air and blowing it out again. It just looked so chic and felt cooling in the palm of the hand,” Mary wrote in her column for MailOnline.

James allowed Mary to keep the vape, and she later found herself buying replacement pods when it ran out. “I reasoned that it would be good if I were to appear to have at least one addiction.

“I would be ‘levelling myself down’, so to speak, in a way that could make me more socially acceptable in drinking circles,” she wrote.

However, her habit doesn’t come cheap, as she explained in her column that she “wastes about £14 a week on four Juul replacement pods.” She then questioned how to break the expensive habit, which she also admits self-pitying and argumentative when she runs out.

Mary admitted she’d “probably kill or be killed by my family members,” if she tried to go cold turkey – revealing that she was going to sign up to a course to help people quit vaping.

Mary and Giles

It’s not the only revelation Mary has made in her column. Recently, she told viewers about her controversial sleeping arrangements, telling fans she and Giles allowed the dogs on the bed.

Mary and Giles met when they were both 21 years old while Giles was studying at Wimbledon Art School and Mary was working as a model. The pair have been blissfully married for over 30 years, most of which time they have spent living at their cottage in Wiltshire.

The stars share two grownup children who prefer to stay out of the limelight. However, it was actually one of Giles’ daughters that were originally due to appear on the show with her dad before she backed out at the last minute.

After a lengthy phone call to producers, Giles managed to convince Mary to join the show – and the two have become fan favourites ever since their arrival.

Little more is known about Mary and Giles’ daughters however it has been revealed that they are both grown and no longer live at home with their parents.

The siblings teased their Gogglebox appearance on social media, appearing together to tell Maya’s 3.2 million followers that they would be on the show. Sitting next to her brother, Maya, 30, told the camera: “Hi everyone. It’s Maya and my brother Omar.

“We are so excited to be on Gogglebox this Friday 9pm. Make sure you tune in and hear us chatting absolute rubbish.”

A popstar is due to appear on the most recent series of Celebrity Gogglebox in his first ever reality TV appearance. Rag’n’Bone Man has had a successful music career so far but is now giving TV a go.

The singer, whose real name is Rory Graham, is appearing on the Channel 4 programme alongside another famous face. The 40-year-old will be sitting alongside TV star and comedian Romesh Ranganathan on the sofa as they watch and review the top television offerings of the week.

Romesh, 47, is a well-known face in the world of showbiz and has plenty of TV experience, hosting The Weakest Link as well as A League Of Their Own, The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, The Ranganation and much more.

Meanwhile, Rag’n’Bone Man’s TV experience is slightly more limited – but the Human singer has acting credits in EastEnders, making a cameo appearance when he performed for The Queen Vic’s pub-goers. Now, the duo will be appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox together and shared a clip where they confirmed the news.

Romesh can be heard saying: “Hello I’m Romesh and this is Rory [Rag’n’Bone Man]. We are gonna be on Celebrity Gogglebox, aren’t we?” Rag’n’Bone Man then added: “Yes we are, this Friday at 9pm.”

Rag’n’Bone Man tied the knot with his long-term partner, Zoe, last year after a difficult road in their relationship. Zoe and the singer got married on Saturday 9 November 2024 in front of their closest friends and family members.

Ahead of the big day, a source said: “Rory is really down to earth and he and Zoe love their quiet life out of the spotlight. But the wedding won’t be low-key, as they’re having all their friends and family involved for a massive celebration, with a huge party afterwards.”

Zoe and Rag’n’Bone man first got together back in 2020 but split for a time in 2021 due to the star’s busy schedule. A source said at the time: “Things have been full-on for Rory around the release of his album and everything, so it has been difficult to spend a lot of time together. It hasn’t worked out between them and they have called things off.”

However, the split only lasted a few months as they rekindled their romance and by June 2024 they were engaged. This is the singer’s second marriage as his first didn’t work out.

The chart topping star was married before his now-wife but it was a short-lived relationship. He was first married to Beth Rouy in 2019 after they were in a relationship with each other for 10 years beforehand.

The former couple share a son together but their marriage broke down soon after they said their vows. Just six months after their wedding day was reported, the couple split and went their separate ways.

Gogglebox viewers issue same complaint minutes in as Celebrity spin-off returns

Channel 4 hit show Celebrity Celebrity left fans unimpressed just minutes into the first episode as new famous duos took to the sofa to share their views on the latest telly

Viewers were left feeling unimpressed just moments into the new season of Gogglebox, criticising the show’s format change.

The Channel 4 favourite, known for featuring regular mates and households commenting on the week’s prime telly offerings and movies, took a different turn on Friday (June 6) night with the reappearance of a star-studded version.

Celebrity Gogglebox made its comeback with fresh high-profile names settling in to view a selection of well-liked shows, including telly legends Paddy McGuinness, Vernon Kay and broadcasting duo Clare Balding with Alice Arnold joining the series.

Fan-favourites like television host Rylan Clark alongside his mum Linda and broadcast journalist Nick Grimshaw with his niece Liv came back for more sofa critiques.

Fresh faces were also spotted among the cast, such as TV star Vicky Pattison and The Only Way Is Essex personality Pete Wicks, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Highlights for the celebs included programmes like Race Across the World, Faking It, Celebrity Bridge of Lies, Silence Is Golden, Big Zuu and AJ Tracey’s Rich Flavours, Canal Boat Diaries, and ITV News – Trump and Musk.

Nonetheless, viewers at home didn’t reserve their comments on the celebrity take of the show, stating that this edition seemed a bit too ‘forced’.

Disgruntled opinions quickly poured in via X, previously known as Twitter, with one individual posting: “Not the dreaded celebrities again, so many of them are so annoying #Celebritygogglebox.”

One viewer ranted: “We watch normal #Gogglebox because it’s hilarious and we love all the families. #celebritygogglebox is not funny and we couldn’t care less about the celebs. It’s just people watching telly.”

Another added their two pence, saying: “Celebrity Gogglebox just isn’t funny like the original, it feels forced! #gogglebox #Celebritygogglebox.”

Yet, not everyone was against the concept as a fan expressed enthusiasm: “#Celebritygogglebox #Gogglebox 1st minute and we see Alex Scott and Jess Glynn. I’m already into this series, I hope we get to see the Eubanks too, TV gold are Chris and Junior.”

Meanwhile, Rylan has recently spilled the beans on his mum’s TV future amid calls from fans for the mother-son pair to star in their own show.

Chatting with the Daily Star, he revealed: “We’ve been offered hundreds of things. We got asked to do a travel show and the chance to go here and go there.”

He continued, explaining his mum’s situation: “It would be hilarious, but she’s just not well enough to do it. Gogglebox is enough for us. She feels comfortable doing that show because we’re just sat in my kitchen.”
