HEINZ has revealed three new flavours of its iconic beans after letting tens of thousands of Brits have their say.

The saucy creations were selected after the beloved firm received more than 26,000 entries from eager fans.

The latest trio of tinned goods are anything but traditional, featuring inspiration from across the globe.

With more than 1,000 votes, the winning flavour was Pizza Beanz.

Heinz urged its fans to enjoy the latest flavour with the classic accompaniment of garlic bread.

Crossing over to the north of Africa, another flavour which has tongues wagging is Tagine Beanz.

A Moroccan-inspired mix, it is packed with typical flavours including cumin, harissa and cinnamon.

Brits looking to make this into meal have been told to switch out the classic toast for couscous or flatbread.

Also landing on supermarket shelves will be Sweet & Sour Beanz.

For those of us looking for a Chinese takeaway in a can, these beans are packed with zingy, punchy flavour.

The fakeaway can be completed with a decent serving of rice and some crispy chicken.

Shoppers can find these in stores from October 8.

Aside from seeing their flavours come to life, the competition winners took home £5000 and secured a lifetime supply of beans.

The latest flavours will join the popular flavours range, which includes BBQ, Chilli, and Cheesy Beanz.

Heinz has also confirmed the return of fan-favourite Monster Munch flavour mayonnaise.

The limited edition bottles of pickled onion-flavoured sauce has landed in selected stores for the second-year running.

The product is ideal for those of us looking for a Chinese takeaway in a can

Last month, the beloved brand launched a brand new range of “beans based meals” for the first time in UK supermarkets.

The bean and pulse based meal pouches are available to buy across all Sainsbury’s stores and online with Ocado.

Among the flavours on offer are Chilli Black Beanz, Curry Chickpeaz and Tomato Cannellini Beanz.

Each 250g pouch is made from natural ingredients and provides at least one of your five a day.

Last year, the can connoisseurs teamed up with cheese maker Cathedral City to recreate one of Britain’s favourite combos.

The odd tins featured cheese already mixed into the bean sauce, and they’ll be available in stores from February 21.

Research released by Heinz said Brits eat baked beans more than once a week, with a quarter of Brits eating them more than that.

Two-thirds of baked bean fans like to put cheese on top.

Heinz also sells Beanz Filled Hash Browns and Heinz Beanz Pizza.

The firm previously created a step-by-step guide to making beans on toast — because one in five people have no idea how to do it.

McVitie’s launches new selection box of festive Penguin flavours that chocolate fans will love

SWEET-TOOTHED fans can now get their hands on a new Penguin selection box.

McVitie’s has revealed its first ever Penguin Selection Box as part of its festive lineup of products.

The box (RRP £3) includes six Penguin treats across a variety of flavours.

There are two original Penguin milk chocolate biscuit bars, one Penguin Mint, one Penguin Orange, in addition to two bags of mini biscuits.

The biscuit bags are in the Cocoa and Cocoa & Orange flavours.

McVitie’s says that the box “comes in bright seasonal packaging featuring the iconic Penguin jokes, along with a maze and word search on the back.”

While savvy shoppers have spotted the box on Asda shelves, it has yet to be listed online.

The new product does feature on the Tesco website, where it is currently marked as “out of stock”.

Other festive finds

McVitie’s festive range also includes the Chocolate Digestives Anniversary Tin, celebrating 100 years since the inception of these beloved biscuits.

The 340g tin contains milk, dark chocolate and white digestives.

You can find this exclusively in Sainsbury’s for £7.50.

And McVitie’s are adding a seasonal spin to a much-loved favourite, giving their White Digestives a festive makeover with playful snowflakes and snowmen packaging.

McVitie’s isn’t the only brand to have revealed new festive products.

The M&S Christmas range for 2025 includes new products such as the Original Peanut Butter & Jelly Munch, as well as a Peanut Butter & Jelly Spread.

The iconic Munch tins first launched in 2021, but this year’s version has been given an American twist, with the treats now available as a peanut butter and jelly flavour.

Last year, the M&S Very Merry Munch tin was advertised as “perfect for movie nights”, with fans calling it “heaven”.

Marmite fans may also like to try the Pecan & Salted Caramel Blondies with a hint of marmite, as well as the new M&S marmite caramel sauce.

Mars have also revealed new Christmas chocolate treats, including a Milky Way Advent Calendar released for the first time and sold exclusively in Asda.

If you’re a Tesco shopper, you’ll be able to get hold of the new Galaxy Miniatures Pouch.

Shoppers were quick to spot the new pouches on the supermarket shelves, with some taking to the Snack Reviews Facebook group to comment: “This bag is perfect,” said one user.

“I need some of these,” added another.

The 260g pouches contain a mix of individually wrapped Galaxy chocolates in the original Smooth Milk and Caramel flavours.

Made from natural ingredients with no additives, Re:Nourish’s new flavours of heat-and-sip bottles are bound to make your mouth water.

The brand is releasing Classic Roast Chicken, Chicken & Vegetable, Pea, Leek & Watercress, and Roasted Carrot & Ginger.

These brand new flavours are now available on shelves as part of the brand’s nationwide launch into Tesco.

Nourish said their new soups are designed to “fuel, comfort, and nourish on the go”.

Walkers launches two new permanent crisp flavours in UK stores for first time in decades

The company is now the UK’s fastest-growing fresh soup brand, sold in supermarkets nationwide.

Re:Nourish says it wants to make soup healthy, handy and fashionable again.

The brand’s products are currently available at Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado, Wholefoods, Amazon Fresh and Planet Organic.

They said: “Launching in 789 Tesco stores earlier this week was a huge win for us!”

The bottled soup items will also be hitting shelves in Morrisons later this month, as well as further Sainsbury’s stores across the country.

The brand’s soups are typically priced at £3 a bottle, which is dependent on each shop.

However, for the month of September, Tesco shoppers can get Re:Nourish soups for just £2 as long as they have a Tesco Clubcard.

In the last few weeks, their products have also been available for £2.50 with a Nectar card in Sainsbury’s.

The brand say they are “absolutely one of a kind” with their microwavable bottle.

The soup-maker says: “All you have to do is loosen the cap, stick it in the microwave for 3.5 minutes, and enjoy!

“The bottle helps keep your soup warmer for longer, and it’s fully recyclable and made using BPA-free plastic.”

The products are aimed at people who have little time to cook for themselves, but also want to stay health-conscious.

On the road from Sarajevo to Mostar, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is a small bakery in the town of Ostrožac called Pekara Centar. There, for less than a euro, you can enjoy lepinja with kajmaka charred traditional flatbread made in a stone oven and filled with a rich, creamy spread from a local dairy. The bakery is on one of the most picturesque roads through the Neretva River canyon, making this delicious bite even more special.

In the beautiful surrounds of Chiemsee, southern Germany, my partner and I enjoyed a lunch of fresh fish at the family-run Chiemseefischerei Stephan, just west of the lake. With just a couple of options available on each daily menu, we didn’t have to faff around with a complicated order, and instead enjoyed the simplicity of the fish, rich potatoes, crisp salad and local Bavarian weissbier in the modern wood-panelled room. There was also Chiemsee sushi on the menu. I remember stepping out of the restaurant afterwards into the bright sunshine, hand in hand with my partner, mountains in the distance, and thinking: could life get any better?

After scaling Kosovo’s highest peak, Gjeravica, Gacaferi Guest House provides delicious home-cooked food in an idyllic setting surrounded by mountains and shepherds herding flocks. Expect delicious byrek (savoury pastry), fergesë (Albanian red peppers and feta cheese), speca në ajkë (fermented peppers with yoghurt), and homemade cheese – all cooked over a wood fire and washed down with local rakia.

In the off-the-beaten-path Klatovy region of the Czech Republic’s south-west, I spent a few days driving around rolling countryside, climbing lookout towers and cooling off in rivers while looking out for kingfishers. The food scene was surprisingly excellent, with the highlight being Hospůdka U Štěpána, a fantastic restaurant near Sušice. A huge kitchen garden provides most of the produce, accompanying the wide range of different steaks from self-reared charolais beef. Fried courgette flowers followed by striploin in chimichurri sauce were some highlights in our August visit, along with the rustic vibe and more than fair price.

Having tested a few pizza-piazza combinations in Rome, we enjoyed a pizza from Antico Forno Roscioli sitting on the kerb in Piazza Navona. It’s a 500-metre walk from the 19th-century bakery to the 15th-century public space (built atop the first-century Circus Agonalis). It’s the best pizza in Rome (in my humble view) and a relatively uncrowded and spectacular baroque spectacle of a square (oval?).

Gourmet cycling in the Netherlands

We caught the train to Groningen in the Netherlands and spent five days cycling its extensive paths. Every night we indulged in a four-course, fine-dining experience. Ginger soup or fried polenta with wasabi, local beef or salmon tartare followed by organic Dutch cheeses, and a liquorice sorbet with blackberry creams. Perfect after a 30-mile cycle ride, and a constant source of conversation.

Jazz and open-air dining in rural France

We stumbled across the biodynamic vineyard La Guinguette du Domaine Gayrard in Virac, north-east of Toulouse, and found that not only did it produce some lovely wines but it also hosted a guinguette (open air dining from a simple menu with live music) during the summer months. We booked for dinner and were blown away. This gastronomic triumph was complimented by the most beautiful surroundings: we sat outside, looking over the vineyards as mellow jazz was played and the chef cooked our meal from a trailer. A truly unexpected gourmet experience.

At Ca’Ordano in the hills of Monferrato, the tasting was simple but unforgettable. A glass of nebbiolo red wine came first with a simple plate of local salami and cheeses. Then, agnolotti pasta filled with roast beef, perfectly paired with a rich monferrato rosso. The visit was small-scale and personal, with no fuss or ceremony, just honest hospitality and food rooted in terroir – they’d hate me for calling it that, but it is what it is: a quiet, undiscovered corner of Piedmont with true flavours among the rolling hills.

Winning tip: the old Crete ways are the best

In the hills west of Rethymno there is Atsipopoulo village, famous for Ta Souvlakia tou Gagani, a lovely restaurant sitting in a beautiful church courtyard. But a tiny restaurant called O Manolis, sitting in a less-illustrious location (the seating occupies empty parking spaces off the main street), embodies everything good about rural Crete. Deliciousness beyond description is produced in that restaurant and served with genuine Greek warmth. With no menu, Manolis serves whatever is harvested that day from his garden, declaring confidently it’s the greatest in Europe, or what he hunts and forages from the hills in the old Cretan way.

Reviewers note the bargain prices and “fantastic” standard of customer service.

If Discount Dragon doesn’t take your fancy, Motatos is another online supermarket that sells surplus or short-dated stock on the cheap.

Shoppers can pick up branded products such as Walkers, Coca-Cola, Heinz and Kellogg’s.

Approved Food is another, offering consumers products nearing best before dates at discounted prices.

Shoppers race to nab Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are slashed to £1.50 ahead of Father’s Day & there’s 2 flavours

WITH Father’s Day just around the corner, Morrison’s deal on Terry’s Chocolate Oranges has come at the perfect time.

The major supermarket has slashed the price of the beloved chocolate favourite and shoppers can choose from two different flavours.

Morrisons is selling the 90g ball in both the original and mint flavours for £1.50, for those with a member’s card.

The full price of the tasty treat is usually £2 and the reduced price is also cheaper than what Sainsbury’s and Tesco sell it for, which is £1.95 at both supermarkets.

Even with a Tesco Clubcard, Terry’s Chocolate Orange 90g costs £1.75, making the Morrisons offer cheaper.

Terry’s Chocolate Orange is a much-loved icon in the confectionery world and has been available to buy since 1932.

Around 44 million of the zesty treats are sold globally each year, so the brand has to tread carefully so as not to offend die-hard fans with new flavours.

Earlier this year, a TikTok account @belongwealth posted a video blowing viewers away, divulging a little-known secret about the household name.

The clip revealed that the iconic brand had another delicious product predating the chocolate orange.. the chocolate apple.

The poster gave some context to the history of the product, saying: “In 1926, Terry’s Chocolate Works, a family run factory in York, released a dessert chocolate apple.

“It did pretty well, so in 1932 they released a dessert chocolate orange, which did really well.”

According to the TikToker, the chocolate apple did not have the longevity of the orange ball we know and love today because during World War 2, the Terry’s chocolate factory was taken over to use as a base for building aircraft blades.

After the war, the factory was returned to the Terry’s.

But due to rationing and limitations on cocoa imports, the company phased out the less popular chocolate apple and focused on the much-loved orange.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Currently, the Terry’s website lists the classic milk chocolate orange, dark chocolate orange, mint orange, plain milk chocolate, toffee crunch orange and exploding candy orange.
