Extraordinary way Shona McGarty smuggled air freshener into I’m A Celeb revealed

After Alex Scott smuggled salt and pepper into the camp, Shona McGarty is the second celeb to bring contraband into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here camp

I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec have shed light on how Shona McGarty smuggled a huge can of air freshener into the camp. Fans were left mystified when producers spotted Alex Scott’s tiny stolen salt and pepper packets but failed to notice the EastEnders‘ star’s much bigger contraband until she revealed it herself.

During the episode that aired on 24 November, Alex was caught with her smuggled goods and campmates were all punished together, losing one star off their dinner. Bosses demanded that campmates produce all contraband, at which point, Shona revealed she had been hiding an enormous can of air freshener.

Viewers struggled to understand how she hid such a big item and how she got it into the camp in the first place. One said on social media: “I think we’re all baffled as to how Shona managed to smuggle a can of air freshener in.”

But Ant and Dec have now revealed how she did it. On Unpacked after the show, the pair addressed the situation and said they think they know how she did it.

When asked who they thought might face the next task, the hosts hypothesised that the campmates who brought in contraband might be punished. “Will it be Shona for smuggling in that air freshener?” asked Dec.

“Where did she hide that? Where does one hide an air freshener?” asked Ant, prompting his co-host to say he thought he knew what had happened. “I think I know where she got it. She nicked it from the trial.”

Kemi Rogers asked if she hid it under her top, and Ant said he didn’t know, but Dec was sure that she must have stolen it from a Bushtucker Trial rather than bringing it all the way from the UK.

A few days ago, Shona, alongside Alex, Jack Osbourne and Martin Kemp faced a Bushtucker Trial where they were locked in cages, sitting on makeshift toilets. The group had to try and retrieve stars from where they were bolted to bars in front of them, as bugs fell from above them.

Though the trial did not involve air freshener, and as such, none was visible to audiences, production may have had one on hand, which Shona may then have swiped.

Shona’s campmates didn’t seem to happy with her secret antics. Martin Kemp headed to the Bush Telegraph to call her out for smuggling the air freshener in, as did Jack who said: “There’s always one.” Kelly Brook added: “I thought we were a team.”

Aitch I’m A Celeb trial first look as twist leaves even Ant and Dec shocked

Aitch is the next celeb to face a Bushtucker trial, called Jungle Doomsday, and a twist in the game leaves even seasoned hosts Ant and Dec shocked, as the rapper fumes ‘you dirty bean’

As rapper Aitch undertook the next Bushtucker Trial, a twist in the I’m A Celeb challenge left everyone shocked, including hosts Ant and Dec.

It was revealed in last night’s (17 November) show that the rapper would be taking on the next challenge. The new trial is called Jungle Doomsday, and the first look shows that Aitch has to hunt through a bunker for stars for the camp. In typical I’m A Celeb fashion, many of these stars a tucked away in jars filled with scorpions and other creatures.

But as Aitch hunted around for the stars, a voice came over the tannoy and said: “Warning cryo chamber malfunction. Awakening snake unit.”

This left Aitch fuming, as he yelled “Oh, you dirty bean!” But it also shocked Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, despite their many years on the show.

The pair had been watching Aitch try to complete the task via a monitor, but when they heard about the snakes, they looked up in horror. “What?” they both yelled, unable to contain their disbelief.

Nevertheless, Aitch got stuck into the task and quickly located the star in a scorpion jar. Before long, he was trying to find the one inside the snake unit and approached the creatures with his now familiar humour.

“Hello, boys, how are we?” he asked as he moved towards the snakes. He soon found the star but discovered it was attached to a string and he would have to untie it. Trying to calm his nerves, the rapper by paying homage to the hosting duo.

He started to sing Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble, a song put out by PJ & Duncan AKA, the performing name used by Ant & Dec when they used to make music. It was released in 1994, which is five years before Aitch, real name Harrison James Armstrong, was born.

Aitch has become a firm fan favourite for his light-hearted attitude on the show, alongside content creator Angry Ginge. “Angry Ginge and Aitch are killing me. Too funny those two,” one fan wrote on social media. Another added that the pair should win the show. “Aitch & Ginge = best duo! For the win!”

The rapper is thought to be the highest paid celeb on this year’s show, with a rumoured paycheck of £250k. The 25-year-old is thought to have been brought on the show to being in younger viewers and his 2.2 million followers on Instagram will surely help with that.

I’m A Celeb’s Ant and Dec mercilessly mock Aitch as rapper joins jungle

Manchester rapper Aitch, 25, is among the famous faces on I’m A Celebrity this week and while introducing him, presenters Ant and Dec mocked him for his stage name

Ant and Dec mercilessly mocked Aitch as the rapper joined I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in the Australian jungle. The 25-year-old, whose real name is Harrison James Armstrong, rose to fame in 2018 with the track Straight Rhyme. The rapper’s debut studio album, Close to Home, reached number two on the UK Albums Chart.

Introducing Aitch on the show, Dec said: “We’ve got one of the biggest names in British music – H.” Ant then joked: “H from Steps, that’s a good booking.” But Dec replied: “No, it’s the rapper.” Co-host Ant then said it was a “tragedy” that Ian Watkins – best known by his stage name of H from Steps – wasn’t on I’m A Celeb.

“H from Steps is rapping now. What a tragedy,” Ant said, before Dec continued: “On a diet of rice and beans Aitch is probably worried he’s not going to rap for three whole weeks.” Ant concluded: “That’s rap, with a capital C.”

Among this year’s contestants alongside Aitch are reality TV star Jack Osbourne, comedian Ruby Wax, Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, model Kelly Brook and Emmerdale star Lisa Riley. Completing the line-up are comedian Eddie Kadi, EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, sports broadcaster Alex Scott and social media star Morgan Burtwistle, who is known as Angryginge.

Aitch joined Eddie, Shona, Kelly and Martin skydiving from a helicopter on to a beach. The five celebrities then had to wade through offal and slime to find a key fob to get access to a getaway car taking them to camp.

As the rapper joined the celebrities on the show, fans have been left wondering if he will cause as much controversy Down Under as he has throughout his career. One of Aitch’s most infamous moments came in 2022, when an advertisement for his debut album Close to Home mistakenly covered a mural of Joy Division icon Ian Curtis in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The artwork, which was painted by street artist Akse P19, had become a local landmark, and its disappearance sparked outrage among Mancunians. Aitch was blindsided by the backlash, and told BBC Breakfast: “I felt like the most hated person in Manchester for about 40 minutes.”

He recalled discovering the mistake on social media, saying: “I seen it on Twitter, that was the first time I seen it…There was an outrage burst of like, ‘What’s Aitch doing putting his album over Ian’s mural’, and then I was like, ‘Oh god, what’s this?'”

The rapper moved quickly, contacting Amazon and Akse P19 to stop the billboard from being erected and arrange for the mural to be restored. “We just put a stop to mine straight away,” he added.
