The nation’s favourite Danny Dyer delves into his personal life as he explores modern masculinity in his new two-part documentary.
Danny Dyer admitted he and his younger brother were polar opposites in his eye-opening documentary.
English actor Danny Dyer’s documentary Danny Dyer: How To Be a Man is climbing the Netflix charts as the star explores what it means to be a man in modern-day Britain.
The two-part series, which originally aired on Channel 4 in 2024 and ranks in the charts alongside shows like Worst Neighbor Ever, sees the star travel across the UK to ask questions around men’s mental health and male identity.
In the documentary, viewers are introduced to his younger brother, Tony, who was born two years after him.
Danny admitted he was bullied at school for taking acting classes as a teenager and was keen to discuss the stigma around gender stereotypes.
Tony agreed that at school: “If you didn’t like football, none of the boys wanted to play with you.” Here is all you need to know about Danny’s brother.
Who is Danny Dyer’s brother Tony?
Danny and his brother Tony, who was born in 1979, were brought up on an East London council estate and approached childhood very differently.
While Danny focused on typical “boys'” activities like football, Tony had the confidence to do what he wanted regardless of traditional gender expectations.
Danny opened up about his brother in the documentary, sharing how unlike Danny, Tony was not afraid to play with dolls as a child.
He said: “Me and my brother, who came out of the same womb, had the same upbringing, but we’re so different.
“I’ve got so much respect for him. Never in a million years would I have had the b****** to have picked up a doll if I wanted to play with a doll.
“Just not what boys do, you know? So I look back on it and I think f****** good for you bruv.”
Tony was known to have missed Danny Dyer’s wedding to Joanne Mas back in 2016 because his own wife was giving birth.
Danny told Female First at the time: “My sister, she’s my best girl and I loved her with all my heart.
“She stepped in at the last moment, which is great because she is five months pregnant too. She’s a special girl.”
