Sprawled across the 30,000-square-foot park, wooden huts have been converted into all the things you would expect to find at a funfair.
A towering red and yellow Helter Skelter stands out in the play area and has a small climbing wall and exit to a bridge walkway on the side as well.
Then there is a wooden shed standing as a ‘Popcorn Hut’, with a rope bridge leading it to the ‘Hook a Duck’ hut with a slide and another exit to the ‘Hall of Mirrors’.

Another spot is ‘Tin Can Alley’, where kids can bang on long metal tubes that vary in length to create differently pitched sounds.
The Ferris Wheel, dubbed ‘The Big Wheel’ has a network of tunnels, bridges and different wooden ‘pods’.
While the giant play structure doesn’t move like a Ferris Wheel does, the different cabins have a variety of things to do, including one with a slide out of it.
The carousel also stands stationary, with wooden horses and a long rope bridge coming from its roof and stretching to another part of the park.
And scattered across the park are a number of multicoloured teacups.
Adding to the vintage steam rally theme, there is a train that kids can crawl through, and on hot days, they can have a splash in the UK’s first water fountain organ.

Classic playground elements are in the ‘funfair’ too, such as swings, pedal quadracycles and trampolines in the ground.
For the parents, there are plenty of picnic benches with parasols to perch on and a cafe to grab refreshments or a light bite at.
One visitor, who headed to the open day yesterday, said: “[T]his is outdoor play on a whole new level.”
Tickets cost £4 per adult and £8 per child and the Adventure Play Fair is open Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 5pm.
While there, families can also explore the museum that has the world’s largest collection of steam engines.
For half price adult admission and free tickets for kids under 12, you can show your Adventure Play Fair tickets.

Thursford is also popular in the festive season for its Christmas Spectacular, which includes a three-hour show with over 130 performers.
There is also Santa’s Magical Journey, which includes a meet-and-greet with Father Christmas.
From November, visitors can head on The Enchanted Journey of Light – an immersive light trail with fairytale characters, lanterns and lit-up seesaws and swings.
And if you are looking for something else to do nearby, head down the road to Pumpkin House which has a maize maze, minigolf, tractor sand pits and pumpkin picking in October.
Or you could discover Hindringham Hall – a moated Tudor manor house with fishponds and historic walled garden.
There are holiday cottages at the house too, if you wanted to extend your stay in the area.

And it seems she’s hoping that she’s passed on this love to her eldest boys – Ronnie, five, and Lennie, three.
As she took to her Instagram page this week to share a Reel which showed the pair helping her out cleaning the house.
In addition to dusting and tidying, the boys were seen changing the tablecloth in the kitchen and wiping the surfaces.
They even appeared to have inherited her home tweaks, such as her famous pillow “chop” – hitting the middle of cushions and pillows to give them a distinctive look – as Ronnie was seen copying his mum.

Alongside the video, Mrs Hinch wrote: “Here’s to raising boys who know that teamwork starts at home.
“It’s not about the mess, it’s about the message, learning that we’re a team, and everyone’s part matters.
“I would love for my boys to grow up knowing the basics of how to manage a home, not just for themselves, but so the heavy load doesn’t always fall on one partner’s shoulders.”
And while the majority of people praised Mrs Hinch for the Reel, there were also a few negative comments.
“Poor kids making them clean,” one wrote.
“Pleased you ain’t my mum. School holidays are for a reason!”

Mrs Hinch then responded in a post on her Instagram Story, as she wrote: “I don’t make my children clean the house everyday AT ALL In fact, they want to help!
“It’s not even about the cleaning, or the mess.
“It’s about teamwork, helping each other, learning little life skills and even making it fun if I can.”
She thanked those who had left kind comments, and concluded: “And to those who feel the need to be so negative, honestly, let mums parent their kids without judgement. Please!”
And Sophie’s post was backed by others in the comments, with one writing: “I can’t believe people had a go at you over this!
“Jeez people wanna lighten up!!”
Mrs Hinch’s whopping £4.4million fortune
HOMEMAKER Sophie Hinchcliffe makes a whopping £4,313 per day. The star, known best as Mrs Hinch online, has cleaned up with bumper earnings for her social media, with reported new figures for company Mrs Hinch Limited.
In fact, according to Companies House, she has more than a million reasons to be smiling with the company’s takings in 2024 amounting to a huge £1,574,405 annual profit.
They also reveal that Sophie has amassed a huge £5 million worth of assets in her firm since it first launched.
Mrs Hinch Limited, which was set up in 2019, started off with online videos detailing cheap cleaning hacks, ways to save money, and advice to run a family home.
Sophie was also praised for her honesty when it comes to raising her sons, giving advice to mums who could be struggling, lifting the lid behind a world that could be picture perfect.
She proved so successful, she has since been expanding her businesses to multiple different ventures, including her own cleaning range, books, interior design services and baby goods.
In 2024, her company’s reported cash at bank and in hand at £4,179,283, monies due in at £748,130 and tangible assets at £81,123.
After allowing for £644,402 in bills, Sophie retained £4,364,134 worth of profits in the firm – including her latest takings.
Her assets include a £99,775 car bought in 2024 – with her latest account proving her most successful set of figures so far.
“I hadn’t seen this reel until I saw the negative comment you posted in your story, the boys seem to be having so much fun,” another added.
“I don’t see the harm in letting them help, you and Jamie are raising the boys amazingly, they are learning responsibility in a fun way.”
“This is so beautiful!” a third said.
“How anyone has found anything negative in it whatsoever I’ll never know!”
“Can’t believe some people felt the need to leave nasty comments on this – saddos,” someone else sighed.
There were also those who flooded the comments with praise for Mrs Hinch for getting her boys started so early on.

“When he was 4 he would pick that as a special treat!

WITH huge smiles, cheering crowds and an incredible ten-year career of hits under their belt, Little Mix went out with a bang in 2022 as they completed their biggest ever UK tour.
Backstage, Perrie Edwards knew she was about to enter an exciting new chapter of her life because, just as the girl group was preparing to go on a break, she was secretly expecting her second child.

But in a devastating new interview, the singer revealed that, months later, she lost her baby at 24 weeks.
Perrie, 32, who now has son Axel with footballer fiance Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, said she had discovered she was pregnant again “not even a year” after his birth.
She recalled: “I was rehearsing for the last Little Mix tour, and I thought, ‘I don’t feel good’. Every symptom under the sun. I was like, ‘I think I’m pregnant’.”
But as her pregnancy progressed past the five-month mark, Perrie began to suspect that medics had spotted something wrong with her unborn baby.

‘Loved being pregnant’
She said: “We went for what was a 20-week scan, but we were actually 22 weeks, and that was just the worst day of my life. Like, horrendous.
“I just knew something was wrong in the scan. I’ve never experienced an out-of-body experience where everything goes in slow motion.”
Two weeks later, Perrie and Alex were given the heartbreaking news that there was no heartbeat. She said: “So then I remember sobbing. Alex was injured at the time and couldn’t really drive.
“He was struggling to drive, but I couldn’t see straight. I was just distraught. We basically lost the baby at, like, 24 weeks.”
Perrie bravely opens up about her anguish on the We Need To Talk podcast with Paul C Brunson, out this morning.
And she revealed Axel, who turns four on Thursday, was a “rainbow baby” — the term used for a tot born after a previous pregnancy loss.
Perrie Edwards says she still cries over Jesy Nelson leaving Little Mix five years on – but insists ‘we did everything we could’
The star explained: “I had a miscarriage very early on with my first ever pregnancy.
“I remember finding out I was pregnant. Obviously, I started bleeding not long after, and I went to hospital and I had the scan and they were like, ‘There’s no baby.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve made this up.
“Maybe I got a false positive or something’. I remember being on my own at the appointments.” Perrie said of the cherished son she went on to have in August 2021: “Axel’s a rainbow baby.”
In heartbreaking detail, she also recalled how she had already planned out her baby’s bedroom before her second miscarriage.
She admitted: “It’s weird, because the first time it happened, I think because it was so early, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s hard’.
“But I think when you’re 24 weeks and you’ve planned out that room and all these things, it’s really hard. And nobody knows other than immediate friends and family.
“I remember shortly after, friends would message and be like, ‘How’s the bump?’ And I’d be like, ‘There is no bump’.”

The You Go Your Way singer said her first pregnancy loss had made her naturally apprehensive when she learned she was expecting Axel.
She explained: “When I was pregnant with him, I loved being pregnant, it was one of the happiest times of my life. I just love carrying babies.
“And it was lovely. But I was a bit on edge, thinking, ‘Oh gosh, I want to get past the 12 weeks. I want to get past this’. And when I get past every scan, that pregnancy was complete bliss, it was perfect.”
Thankfully, Perrie had former England midfielder Alex, 32 — who fans nickname The Ox — by her side. The couple have been together since 2017 and got engaged in 2022.
I didn’t even want to meet anybody. I was like, that’s me done. I don’t think I could bear that pain.
Perrie Edwards
Their relationship came two years after Perrie’s engagement to first love Zayn Malik, of One Direction, fell apart before millions of fans.
They had met in 2011, when X Factor stars One Direction returned to perform on the series of the singing contest that Little Mix won.
Months later, they were a fully fledged couple, but it was never plain sailing. Zayn was alleged to have cheated with an Australian waitress in a London club, and was later hit with more claims of infidelity.
In 2013, he demonstrated his commitment by getting a portrait of Perrie tattooed on his arm and even bought her mum a house in Dorset.
But in 2015, they split — and she was left devastated, with reports at the time that he had ended their almost four-year romance by text.
The ordeal inspired one of Little Mix’s biggest hits, the chart-topping Shout Out To My Ex.
‘Always the underdogs’
However, Perrie held a dignified silence on the ins and outs of their relationship and how it ended.
Reflecting on it now, she explained: “I think definitely, at the time, I thought everything we experienced in our relationship was normal. Because it was my first relationship, first love.
“I was like, ‘Oh, this is how it’s supposed to feel. It’s supposed to feel a little bit toxic. In some ways, this is probably normal, right?’.
“And then, when I became single, I was almost thinking, ‘I never, ever want to go through that again’. I didn’t even want to meet anybody. I was like, that’s me done. I don’t think I could bear that pain.
“But now, I’m thinking, ‘Oh, that probably wasn’t good’. And I’ve noticed it a lot.
“Like in the start of the relationship, I would handle things differently with Alex, and he’d come at it with such a level head that it would throw me.”
On what kind of man Alex is, Perrie continued: “He’s very mature. He’s very laid back. He’s very level-headed.
“He’s not the type to get mad or get angry or get funny about things. It might sound boring to some, but it’s so unproblematic.”
During her time in Little Mix, Perrie — alongside Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and, up until the end of 2020, Jesy Nelson — sold over 75million records, released six albums, had five No1 singles and became the first girl band in 41 years to win the British Group gong at the Brit Awards.

Since then, she has signed a deal with Columbia Records, which has a roster featuring Adele, Beyonce and Harry Styles, and released a handful of solo singles, including Forget About Us, which peaked at No10 last year.
This Friday, Perrie is back with her latest single, If He Wanted To He Would. But she still feels like Little Mix were underestimated.
She said: “I still think they looked at us and thought it was four little girls in a pop group.
“I don’t think they really saw the graft and the dedication and the numbers and the success that we had. I still think people kind of overlook it a little bit.
“And we were always the underdogs. Like from the very beginning, it was like, ‘You won’t do very well. Bands don’t do that well and it won’t last’.
“That’s what gave us the fire in our bellies to want to work so hard to prove everybody wrong.”
Despite her later success, the Black Magic singer had a tough childhood as she was born with oesophageal atresia, a condition where the oesophagus doesn’t fully develop, and she was in and out of hospital as a youngster.
She told the podcast: “I was there every other week for an operation, so I was used to being put to sleep.
“Instead of counting down from ten, I’d be like, ‘Meet me downstairs in a van,’ (singing), off I went.”
It was Perrie’s passion and talent for singing which meant her mum Debbie was always confident she would make it in music.
She said: “I remember sobbing that I failed my GCSEs, and my mum was like, ‘It’s OK, darling, you’re going to be a singer’.
“I was like, ‘Why is she such an irresponsible parent? I’m never going to get a job.’ And she was like, ‘Well, you’re not going to need a job. You’re going to be a singer’.”

With this simple tip, which has been hailed the “best sun cream hack ever,” you’ll need an unexpected kitchen essential.
Posting on social media, Gemma McCartan, a mum-of-two and full-time content creator from the UK, gave her followers a close-up look at her trick, which involves using spoons when applying spray sun cream.
Alongside her short video, the influencer beamed: “The best sun cream hack for kids EVER.”
She then said: “To the mum who posted this, I love you.”

Instead of wrestling her son Max to close his eyes so she could apply the spray sun cream to his face, the youngster instead put two spoons over his eyes.
Gemma was then able to spray his face with sun cream, without it getting in his eyes and causing any tears.
Moments after, the woman’s daughter then did the same, yet again ensuring a seamless application with no irritation of the eyes, whilst at the same time, making the often agonising process much more exciting.
Thrilled with her hack, Gemma later wrote: “It’s been a game changer.”
Clearly beaming with the simple trick, the mother added: “It’s made my day, I had the kids crying on holiday until we found this hack.”
Gemma’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @gemmamccartan, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 200,800 views.

Not only this, but it’s also amassed 2,074 likes and 138 comments.
Parents were impressed with the “genius” trick and many thought it was a “great” idea.
One person said: “What a brilliant idea.”
Another added: “That is genius.”
My son has allergies so this is amazing

Whilst a third commented: “Not only practical, it gives the kids a feeling of control over what’s about to happen, so they are more willing to cooperate. Great idea.”
Meanwhile, someone else gushed: “Best idea ever for sun cream.”
The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine
Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez – known as Dr Dray – revealed why you should wear suncream.
The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.
“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.
“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”
But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.
Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.
Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.
However, at the same time, one user wrote: “Should have cream on eyelids too as they can burn, I know it stings if it gets in eyes but it’s such a sensitive area so best to have full coverage.”
To this, Gemma wrote back and explained: “Yes but my son has allergies so this is amazing.”
Not only this, but another person asked: “Won’t they get a burnt line where the handles are?”
In response, Gemma confirmed that instead of spraying the sun cream on her youngster’s eyelids, after the fun part, she then uses her finger for a more controlled application, as she acknowledged: “I use my finger to do the sides and lids.”

But it’s easy to forget that they both have lots of free locations too, giving access to our coastlines and countryside for the cost of car parking.
I’m lucky to have two reservoir reserves right on my doorstep, both of which have lovely waterside walks, a playground for the kids and a cafe for those all-important refreshments.
Even better, National Trust members can park free, since the organisation took over looking after Staunton Harold Reservoir and nearby Foremark on the border of Leicestershire and Derbyshire a couple of years ago.

In the school holidays, there’s often kids’ activities like circus skills or kite-making that anyone can turn up and have a go at.
Calke Abbey, which is a location you have to pay to access, is in-between the two and has one of the National Trust’s biggest woodland play areas and a huge walled garden full of fun like hobby horses, den building, garden games and craft stations throughout the summer holidays.
There’s enough there for a full day out, but if you’re just after somewhere outdoors to while away a few hours, its free neighbours could be perfect.
To be honest, we very rarely visit the inside spaces when we go to National Trust places anyway as my boys prefer to be in the fresh air.
So it’s great that you have the option of playgrounds and woodland walks without having to pay.
It’s not just hidden countryside spots that are great to explore for free.
I’m a mum and here’s ’10/10′ free day out near Glasgow I swear by for summer hols
There’s some incredible coastal sites that fall under National Trust and English Heritage ownership too.
If you’re heading to Norfolk for your holidays, there’s the remains of a big Roman fort tucked away behind Parkdean’s Breydon Water caravan site.
Burgh Castle, looked after by English Heritage, is a short stroll away from the caravans if you’re staying there or there’s a small car park for visitors just up the road.
It’s amazing how much of the fort walls have survived and you can get a sense of how the Romans built their empire.
We’ve been there many times over the years and there’s only ever a handful of visitors about, even in the height of summer.
Just up the Norfolk Coast is the National Trust’s Blakeney Point, home to a colony of seals.

We stayed nearby for our first wedding anniversary and it really is a very special place.
Just remember to give the wildlife plenty of space if you want to visit it in its natural environment.
When we headed up north last year, we went to several English Heritage sites along Hadrian’s Wall, including Housesteads Fort.
But it’s easy to forget that most of the 73 miles of wall are free to access and looked after by various organisations like National Trust and English Heritage.
My top tip if you’re heading to one of these free sites and aren’t a member is to try to support the location by buying something from the cafe or giving a small donation if you can.
Always follow the countryside code to leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but memories so that these wonderful wildlife havens remain unspoilt for future generations.
With 620,000 acres of land and 780 miles of coast belonging to the National Trust, you’re bound to find somewhere to visit not far from your doorstep – and you might not even need to pay a penny to enjoy your local location.
Free summer holiday activites
You don’t need to spend a penny to keep your kids entertained this summer…
Museums – Some museums offer free entry to some exhibits, and also host events for kids.
Parks – Head to your local park to enjoy the playgrounds, games areas, courts and splash pads. Some even have trails for kids to enjoy.
Beach – It doesn’t have to be sunny to enjoy the beach, you can go rock pooling, crabbing, make sandcastles, or enjoy a walk along the headland.
Library – If the weather is awful, head indoors and borrow books, audiobooks, dvds.
Cooking – Have your own mini bake-off, or Come Dine With Me challenge.
Playdates – Invite friends over for an afternoon of socialising.
Boardgames – Enjoy a little sibling rivalry with rounds of Monopoly or stretch your brain with Scrabble.

A WOMAN has revealed that she instantly fell in love with her step-brother after he moved in to the family home, and ended up pregnant with his baby.
Tookie and Krys first met as teenagers, when Krys moved back in with his mother, after years of separation.

Tookie was already living with Krys’ mum, and was being raised as her step-daughter.
“When I first saw her I thought she was too good for me”, Krys told Love Don’t Judge.
“I didn’t talk to her because I was too nervous”.
However, Tookie was instantly attracted to Krys, describing his “nerdy” look as “sexy”.

The duo, who were 15 and 17 at the time soon grew close, and after Tookie initiated things, they began sleeping together.
“One thing led to another, and we made a baby”, Krys said.
The couple were able to keep their relationship under wraps until Tookie became pregnant.
Jamie, Krys’ mum, found out about the pregnancy after receiving a phone call from Tookie’s mum.
“I expected Tookie and Krys to behave to eachother like brother and sister”, Jamie said.
Krys had only just got back in contact with his mother when he got Tookie pregnant, and was worried their bond would become fractured again.
Ex On The Beach stars reveal they’re ENGAGED after four kids and cheating scandal – and the wedding is just weeks away
Jamie said she was hurt and disappointed by the actions of the pair, but still loves Tookie as a daughter.
The couple now share a daughter named Blu, who is 20 months old.
Despite his young age, Tookie said that Krys was a great help following her birth, and she didn’t have to lift a finger.
“I love the way he is, you’re a good father”, Tookie said to Krys.
Here’s why I love being a young mum
Tracy Kiss, who fell pregnant at 19, has revealed what she believes are the pros of being a young mother.
The personal trainer and blogger, from Buckinghamshire, believes women who give birth in their teens make BETTER mothers than those in their 30s.
She claims young mums snap back into shape quicker, have more energy and relate more easily to their children, meaning they’re better behaved and happier.
Tracy told Fabulous: “Women who become first-time mums in their teens make better parents than those in their 30s or 40s.
“I believe if I’d been 10 or so years older before becoming a mother then I wouldn’t have the relationship I have with my children now.
“For a start, being older I would have had less energy and therefore less patience.
“I wouldn’t be as enthusiastic to speak to people after months of sleepless nights as I was in my teens.
“My body snapped back to its pre-pregnancy size through fitness post-birth, which in turn gave me the confidence to date and find love again. I’ve never been happier than I am now at the age of 30 with two children.
“If I’d have been alone at 40 with a newborn baby I’d be more tired, less happy with my body, less energetic and far more stressed from the shock of living my life for myself instead of putting others first. Sometimes age and the innocence of ignorance is a good thing.
“As a teen mum I just got on with it, found my feet and became responsible and capable because at the time I didn’t know any different.”
The couple get lots of hate online for their unique relationship, but don’t let trolls get them down.
“If you’re still judging, then honestly, you’re miserable”, Krys said.
NEIGHBOURS star Bonnie Anderson celebrated with friends and showed off her baby bump just days before she’s due to give birth.
The actress, who is best known for playing Bea Nilsson on the Aussie soap opera, is 39 weeks pregnant with her second child and revealed she’s “ready to pop.”

Bonnie, 30, was treated to an extravagant lunch by some of her closest friends who all posed around the singer and actress as she showed off her bump.
“When the girls take you for a beautiful lunch before you pop,” Bonnie captioned a photo on Instagram.
She later danced with her group of friends as she lifted up her top to show her baby belly.
“Thanks for making me feel special ladies,” Bonnie captioned a photo of the group.
Bonnie has kept fans updated about her pregnancy journey and revealed in a post that while she “can’t see anything below me,” she can “see the finish line” of her second pregnancy.
The actress, who joined Neighbours in 2018, welcomed her first child with husband Samuel Morrison in December 2022.
Before joining Neighbours in 2018, Bonnie found fame when she won Australia’s Got Talent in 2007 at the age of 12.
She then went on to forge out a successful music career and toured with Olly Murs and worked with One Direction and Demi Lovato’s producers on a number of tracks.
Neighbours legend become latest star to sign for Strictly Come Dancing after soap ending leaves him free to take part
In 2020, Bonnie was crowned the winner of The Masked Singer Australia.
Bonnie and Samuel revealed they were expecting their second child earlier this year with a sweet video.
In the clip, the 30-year-old was seen showing off her bump during a beach trip with her husband and their two-year-old son.
Neighbours stars who made it big
The long-running Aussie soap has launched the careers of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Here are some of the Neighbours alums who went on to make it big after starring on the soap…
Kylie Minogue
Before she hit the big time with her music career, Kylie shot to fame playing Charlene Mitchell on Neighbours. Shortly after her arrival, Kylie began an on and off-screen romance with co-star Jason Donovan, who played Scott Robinson, which gained the couple an army of adoring fans.
Jason Donovan
After his stint as Scott, singer and actor Jason became an international popstar and had his pick acting of roles. He moved to the U.K., married, had children and has since starred in over a dozen West End show, most notably Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Alan Dale
New Zealand born actor Alan was one of Neighbours 12 original cast members having made his debut as Jim Robinson on the soap’s first episode on 18 March 1985. As the head of the Robinson clan, widower Jim lived at Number 26 Ramsay Street with his children Paul, Julie, Scott and Lucy, and was a real anchor in the community. He stayed with the show for eight years, before his character was killed off in dramatic scenes aired in 1993 but which still reverberate through the soap to this day.
Margot Robbie
Way before she was Barbie or Harley Quinn, Margot was best known as Ramsay Street resident Donna Freedman. Her notable storylines included her marriage to Ringo Brown and becoming a young widow following his tragic death. After three years she bid farewell to the soap and Australia with a plan to make a name for herself in Hollywood which she did when she bagged the role of Naomi Lapaglia opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street.
Jesse Spencer
Jesse rocked up on Ramsay street in 1994 with the rest of the Kennedy clan. He stayed for five years, literally growing up in front of the camera, but in 2000 felt it was time to spread his wings and head for Hollywood. It was certainly a smart move as he went on to bag leading roles in popular shows like House and Chicago Fire.
Russell Crowe
New Zealand-native Russell had a brief arc on Neighbours, appearing in four episodes of the soap 1987 as Kenny Larkin, the former cellmate of Street resident Henry Ramsay. The role obviously got him noticed though because he quickly went on to become a fully-fledged Hollywood A-lister, winning the Best Actor Oscar for his standout performance as Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius in Gladiator.
Bonnie wrote: “Bobby’s going to be a big brother. We are beyond grateful for the new adventure.”
She then added: “Thank you for capturing these moments of the four of us @chelsdarnell I dressed the bump in @dissh and couldn’t be more obsessed with this outfit.”

She said: “A year ago I was 110kg (17.3st).”
Shell then shared a picture of herself before her weight loss as she explained: “After many diets and gym sessions and swimming, nothing was working (I am 42, everything slows down).”
But the mum revealed that she wasn’t just losing weight for herself, she also needed to do it to save her son’s life.
She revealed that her 17-year-old needed a new kidney and while she was a match, she needed to lose weight to go through with the operation.

Shell said she needed to get down to 80kg (12.5st) so decided to give Mounjaro a go.
In just seven months, she was able to lose 5.5st and go down to 11.8st.
Shell explained that she stopped taking in Mounjaro in March and donated her kidney in April.
Now, the mum has been off the drug for six months and says she has only put on 3kg.
“My body seems to have stabilised at this weight and I’m more than happy as I look great, and saved my son’s life,” she added.
She also updated those who commented, saying: “My son and me have recovered well to those who asked and my kidney has bedded into his body well! It was all worth it!”

I went on fat jabs but the hair loss was unbelievable so I quit – I’d rather be chubby with hair than skinny and bald
The post soon went viral and many congratulated the mum and her son in the comments.
One person wrote: “What a woman, what a mother, you gave life to your son twice.”
Another commented: “Best story I’ve read to lose weight. Well done you.”
“Aww that’s a wonderful story! So happy to hear both are doing well,” penned a third.
What are the other side effects of weight loss jabs?
Like any medication, weight loss jabs can have side effects.
Common side effects of injections such as Ozempic include:
Nausea: This is the most commonly reported side effect, especially when first starting the medication. It often decreases over time as your body adjusts.
Vomiting: Can occur, often in conjunction with nausea.
Diarrhea: Some people experience gastrointestinal upset.
Constipation: Some individuals may also experience constipation.
Stomach pain or discomfort: Some people may experience abdominal pain or discomfort.
Reduced appetite: This is often a desired effect for people using Ozempic for weight loss.
Indigestion: Can cause a feeling of bloating or discomfort after eating.
Serious side effects can also include:
Pancreatitis: In rare cases, Ozempic may increase the risk of inflammation of the pancreas, known as pancreatitis, which can cause severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.
Kidney problems: There have been reports of kidney issues, including kidney failure, though this is uncommon.
Thyroid tumors: There’s a potential increased risk of thyroid cancer, although this risk is based on animal studies. It is not confirmed in humans, but people with a history of thyroid cancer should avoid Ozempic.
Vision problems: Rapid changes in blood sugar levels may affect vision, and some people have reported blurry vision when taking Ozempic.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Especially if used with other medications like sulfonylureas or insulin.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “How amazing are you! You should be immensely proud of yourself not just because of your weight loss (and you look amazing) but because of saving your son.”
“Wow what a fantastic story,” claimed a fifth
Someone else added: “You look incredible and what an amazing gift to give your son.”
A WIFE is sharing her secret ‘3-hour rule’ that keeps her marriage alive, and other married couples can’t get enough of it.
TikToker Rachel Higgins posted a video sharing the simple way she and her husband manage to reconnect after long days.

The three-hour night involves carving out phone-free time for each otherCredit: Getty
Higgins and her husband began following a three-hour night back in 2024, and the mother said it has been a “game changer” in their relationship.
What is the three-hour night? Higgins explains it as dividing up three hours into three different sections, which allows them to accomplish chores and connect.
Higgins and her husband would previously spend the entire night taking care of their young daughter, lounging on the couch while scrolling through their phones, and then going to bed.
However, after prioritizing their relationship, their nights take on a slightly different look.
“What we do is after my daughter goes to bed…we take an hour of productive time,” Higgins explained.
“Anything that’s productive for the household.”
During the productive hour, they do chores that they couldn’t accomplish throughout the day, such as cleaning the kitchen or laundry.
“The second hour we’re dedicating to our marriage.
“During this time, we put our phones away and we’re solely dedicated to each other and to our marriage.”
Higgins said that this hour can look a little different every night.
How can I bring up kinks with my partner?
Some nights it may mean taking a shower together, while others it may just be as simple as playing a game together.
The purpose of this hour is to debrief, discuss, and connect.
“The last hour is about taking time to yourself,” she said.
In the final hour, both of them can do whatever they want without judgment.
Carson Daly’s relationship rule
In 2024, Carson Daly revealed his secret relationship rule to People:
Daly told People that he and his wife, Siri Pinter, sleep in separate rules. “It’s been good for us,” said theTodayhost before revealing that he and Siri “secretly love it.”
Daly isn’t the only celebrity to participate in the “sleep divorce” trend. Cameron Diaz said in 2023 that she and her husband Benji Madden also sleep in different rooms. “We should normalize separate bedrooms,” she said. “To me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours.”
This may be lying on the couch, on your phone, or any other self-care activities you need to do.
“Main point is to inspire you to be intentional with your time if you feel stuck doing the same thing every night like we did,” Higgins wrote in the comments.
“No hard rules.”
Higgins said that they don’t necessarily accomplish their three-hour night goal every night, but they try to do it three to four times a week.
The mother said that even just succeeding one night a week can be enough.
Higgins’ three-hour night drew the attention of over 300,000 TikTok users, with many people rushing to the comments to support the idea or question how she manages to make it work.
“Such a good idea,” one woman commented.
“Good for us empty nesters too! The phone scrolling is outta control!”
However, in the family photo from their holiday fans were quick to point out that Harry wasn’t on the trip.
Stacey posted slew of sweet snaps of her and Joe with their other five kids and wrote: “Time to make some memories my whole world 🥹 can’t wait for some special time with my babies.
“Got one picture of us all the second one is every photo ever happy summer everyone from pickle cottage to our second home at this point.”
But while most followers pointed out what a lovely photos they were, some took to the comments to cruelly mum-shame Stacey over this.
One fan wrote: “Lovely family pic. Wish Joe eldest son was included more.”
Stacey Solomon clashes with husband Joe Swash as they reveal relationship struggles in therapy
While another added: “Why is Joe’s eldest son never with them.”
This person said: “I agree would be nice for them to acknowledge they’re missing one!”
It comes after “tension” between the popular couple has recently been captured on TV.
Stacey Solomon’s career so far
Stacey Solomon has been a familiar face on viewers’ screens for over a decade. Let’s take a look back at her career.
The X Factor (2009): Stacey competed in series six of long-running ITV singing competition The X Factor. During her time in the show, she was mentored by Danni Minogue in the ‘Girls’ category. The star finished in third place, behind Joe McElderry and Olly Murs.
I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here (2010); In late 2010, Stacey headed to the infamous I’m A Celeb Aussie jungle. After 21 days, she triumphed to win the tenth series. It was through I’m A Celeb that she met future husband Joe Swash – who’d won two years earlier and was hosting the ITV2 spinoff.
Celebrity Juice (2011―2013, 2016―2019): The star appeared as a panellist on 21 episodes of the comedy panel game show hosted by Keith Lemon. Stacey was a regular in the 21st series, broadcast in 2019.
Loose Women (2016 – present): Stacey has been a permanent panel member of the daytime show since 2016. She previously made guest appearances in 2011 and 2012.
Sort Your Life Out (2022 -present): This BBC show sees Stacey, with the help of an expert team, transform participants’ living spaces after removing clutter.
However, according to a source, the couple have vowed to take time out to remember why they’re so good for each other.
During their BBC reality show, the pair shared a close-up look into the ups and downs of life at Pickle Cottage and their relationship.
The source told New Magazine: “There’s tension in the air and there is a bit of bickering. But it puts a strain on any relationship.
“You look at those on reality shows, such as the wives in The Real Housewives, with cameras in their houses 24/7, and a lot of their relationships crack under the pressure.“
Despite this, the source maintained that a break away from the cameras, however small, is just what Stacey and Joe need.
The source added: “They’re worried that if they don’t have a break from the cameras and the limelight, it could affect what makes their relationship special.
“They’re still very much in love and are really trying to focus on each other amid the silly bickering and moments of tension, and remember why they got together in the first place – and why they’re actually so perfect together.
“They have vowed to carve out some quality time this summer to do that.”
The youngster told a school receptionist: “I was running really fast, racing my friend and bumped into the wall.”
As reported by Birmingham Live, an inquest heard how Yaseen picked himself up and appeared to behave normally after the fall.
A paediatric school first aider applied an ice pack to a visible bump on the pupil’s forehead.
Yaseen’s mother and sister were given a letter with medical advice upon picking him up.
The inquest, held today at Birmingham Coroner’s Court, heard the youngster appeared to be acting normally after going home.
He had attended a local mosque after school and celebrated his sibling’s birthday with cake.
Later in the evening, Yaseen told his father he didn’t feel well, and he was given some Ibuprofen.
At around 11pm, the little boy complained about head pain “out of nowhere” and started to throw up.
His family were on their way to the hospital but took him back home to change after he vomited again.
Five teens arrested for ‘attempted murder’ as boy, 14, fights for life after stabbing in broad daylight
The inquest heard they tried to leave again but Yaseen told them he just wanted to sleep, so they put him to bed.
Dad Simriel Uddin said he looked in on his son at 3am and again at 5am when he got up for work, both times Yaseen was asleep.
But the youngster was tragically found dead a few hours later.
Heartbroken dad Simriel Uddin previously told theMail: “He was a bright, joyful spirit and he was a beautiful, kind-hearted little boy.
“He had a head collision in school -the school told my wife ‘Oh, your son has bumped his head.’
“When she asked if it was anything serious they said, ‘No it’s nothing serious, it’s just a bump’.”
The inquest heard how Yaseen’s brother Khalil performed CPR while waiting for an ambulance.
Paramedics rushed Yaseen to hospital at around 11am but the six-year-old was pronounced dead at 12.08pm.
Guirish Solanki, a consultant paediatric neurosurgeon, concluded Yaseen had suffered a “traumatic head injury when he struck his head on the wall.”
Yaseen’s cause of death was given as a traumatic right frontal extra-axial haemorrhage, which means a bleed outside of the brain but within the skull.
Louise Hunt, the Senior Coroner for Birmingham and Solihull said: “Yaseen was a six-year-old little boy who was normally fit and well.
“He was described as happy and engaged when he came to school, a big character, who was always bubbly.”
She confirmed Yaseen had been playing with his friends before falling at around 12.29pm.
The coroner was also satisfied the family had been given a letter outlining medical advice, despite the fact they previously disputed this.
She said: “This was a tragic accident and I record in conclusion this was an accident.
“I’d like to reiterate and offer my condolences to all the family. It must be very hard for all of you and I’m very sorry if today’s inquest has made things more difficult. I’m so very sorry for your loss.”
Speaking after the inquest, Yaseen’s sister Sumaya told BirminghamLive: “Thank you to everyone for their support.”
In a previous statement, Razia Ali, the executive headteacher at Marlborough, said: “Our school community has been left devastated by the tragic passing of one of our wonderful and much-loved pupils.
“Yaseen was an incredibly helpful, kind and caring pupil who brought a smile to the face of everyone who came across him.
“I know I speak for everyone when I say he will be deeply missed. All our thoughts and prayers are with Yaseen’s family and friends.”

WHEN Michelle Dell booked a summer holiday to Gran Canaria, she expected two weeks of fun in the sun.
But just days after arriving, the Sheffield mum fell gravely ill – and before long, she knew she was dying.

The terrifying ordeal left an even deeper scar on her daughter Lizzie, then 11, who developed a devastating phobia that ruled her life for the next 12 years.
Michelle tells The Sun: “I feel lucky every day of my life to still be here but, also, I have felt terrible guilt for what happened to Lizzie – wondering if we could have done anything differently.
“It took me four years to recover and I now have lots of long-term health problems.
“None of that matters though, because I’m still here.”
The family’s nightmare began in the summer of 2012 after jetting to Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands with friends.
The group upgraded to a new four-star hotel in the popular seaside resort Playa del Ingles after two nights, because the first one they had booked was disappointing.
Michelle, along with husband Wayne, 52, and daughters Lizzie and Rosie, then 10, were in an apartment, with six other pals on the trip located next door.
On the third night of the holiday, the group went for a buffet dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.
Michelle says: “As all-inclusives go, this one felt good quality and the choice of food was good.
“I’m a bit of a clean freak and it seemed very clean.
What is salmonella, what are the symptoms and treatment?
“I and five others in the group went for the Spanish omelette, which tasted perfectly good.”
The group headed out for a few rosés, gin and tonics and Spanish lagers at a nearby bar.
But the next day, things took a dramatic turn.
Michelle says: “In the morning, I went onto my balcony and our friends next door said one of the group had been up all night sick with a bug.
“We had a bit of a giggle and made light of it because we thought it was very minor but as I was talking, I thought, ‘Oh goodness, I need the toilet.’”
Michelle suffered sudden diarrhoea, but assumed it was a minor travel bug.
Within hours, four others were sick. Michelle was getting worse with every passing minute.
It was like the worst horror film I’d ever seen. There was blood all over the floor, sick everywhere and she was screaming in agony
LizzieDaughter
She says: “I was doubled over in agony. I’m not really one to make a fuss but it was absolutely the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.
“It was as though somebody’s hands were inside my tummy twisting it and the pain wouldn’t stop.”
The hotel doctor was called and tried multiple times to put a cannula in her arm to get fluids in, but Michelle was too poorly and couldn’t be rehydrated.
Michelle says: “By this time I felt like I’d been drugged and was drifting in and out of consciousness.”
Wayne and Michelle had tried to shield the girls from the events unfolding by asking them to stay in their beds – which were separated from their bed by a small partition wall.
But for Lizzie, hearing her mum’s screams was distressing.
Lizzie says: “When I did see her it was like the worst horror film I’d ever seen.
“There was blood all over the floor from the cannula being taken in and out.
“There was sick everywhere because mum was vomiting so much. She was screaming in agony.”

Taken to a local hospital in Maspalomas, she was given fluids and sent back to the hotel hours later – still with no diagnosis.
The next day, on day five of the holiday, she collapsed again and was rushed to a larger hospital.
Doctors soon discovered she had contracted an extreme case of salmonella – a bacterial infection linked to food poisoning.
Michelle says: “My body was swollen and huge with the fluids. My eyelids couldn’t even open properly.
“I remember phoning my mum in England from my bed and saying, ‘I think I’m going to die.’
“There was something telling my brain: ‘It doesn’t matter what you do now, your body’s taken over.’ I thought my internal organs were shutting down.”
As the rest of the group began to recover, Wayne stayed with the kids, trying to keep things as normal as possible.
In despair, Michelle called him.
She says: “I told him, ‘You need to come back to the hospital because something’s happening. I’m falling really ill again’.
“He was having pizza with the girls, but I insisted, ‘You need to come now. This is really serious’.
“The staff kept saying, ‘You are fine’. I’m not a melodramatic person but when he came in, I sobbed.
“I told him, ‘I am not fine. I’m going to die. You need to tell them to get me a doctor now to do more tests. Please make them understand I’m just not a hysterical woman. I am ill’.”
SALMONELLA cases are at a record high in Britain – and there are some key signs you can look out for.
In the most recent outbreak, over 100 people were sickened and 14 rushed to hospital after eating tomatoes.
Health officials urged Brits to be on high alert for the symptoms of salmonella infection, which can last anywhere from four to seven days.
Cases hit a record decade high in 2024, soaring by almost a fifth in a single year to over 10,000 cases, UKHSA data shows.
Separate statistics reveal cases in the first quarter of 2025 were even higher than 2024, with some 1,588 cases logged between January and March 2025, up on the 1,541 reported over the same period in 2024.
By comparison, there were 1,328 reports between January and March 2023.
Children under 10 were particularly affected, accounting for 21.5 per cent of cases.
Salmonella, which lives in the guts of animals and humans and spreads through contaminated poo, can cause a sudden bout of fever, vomiting, explosive diarrhoea, stomach pains and headaches, often striking within hours of eating tainted food.
The bacteria, which often taints food if grown in dirty water or handled with grubby hands, attacks the gut lining, damaging cells and stopping the body from soaking up water.
This is what leads to the painful cramps and non-stop diarrhoea as the body flushes out the water it couldn’t absorb.
Most people recover without treatment, but in rare cases it can turn deadly.
Around one in 50 sufferers go on to develop a serious blood infection, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk of complications.
Thankfully, deaths remain rare in the UK, with fatal cases making up just 0.2 per cent of reports.
Wayne fought Michelle’s corner and doctors agreed to retest her.
They found she had sepsis, a deadly immune reaction to an infection that needs to be treated rapidly.
One of the key symptoms of sepsis is someone saying they feel like they are dying, according to the UK Sepsis Trust, as well as a high temperature, chills, a rapid heart rate, a rash that doesn’t fade when pressed and breathlessness.
The body overreacts to the infection and starts attacking itself, damaging its own tissues and organs.

Michelle began to stabilise after her treatment was changed, with a new antibiotic.
Later, doctors told her they believed it was the hotel’s Spanish omelette that caused her illness, due to the timings of events.
Friends also told Michelle that other guests, like the five in her party, had eaten the omelettes and got sick too.
Michelle’s daughters flew home with the rest of the group after the fortnight holiday ended and went to stay with their grandparents, while Wayne stayed at Michelle’s bedside.
She gradually started to feel better, and flew home a week later, but has been left with after-effects, as 40 per cent of survivors are.
She lives with chronic fatigue (also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis, or ME), non-epileptic seizures, chronic migraines and functional neurological disorder – a problem with how the brain receives and sends information to the rest of the body.
‘I’d give myself black eyes’
It wasn’t just her life that was changed though. Daughter Lizzie, who was traumatised by her mum’s brush with death, was also deeply affected.
Lizzie says: “I’d seen my mum so ill in the hotel, and then we’d seen her in hospital looking grey and almost dead.
“The second I got home, the first thing that I got in my head was, ‘OK, so I’m not going to eat.’ In my head, it was a case of, ‘If you eat, you could die’.”
From a healthy 11-year-old, Lizzie grew anxious and gaunt, surviving only on bread sticks, cereal and packaged snacks.
In 2017, five years after the holiday, 16-year-old Lizzie suffered a full-blown panic attack on a train after seeing someone being sick.
She says: “I’d never had one properly like that so when I got home I Googled my symptoms and that’s the first time I read about emetophobia – a fear of vomiting. That was me.”
It spiralled into constant anxiety and self-harm, as Lizzie tried to focus on anything but the fear.

“There were days when I had seven or eight panic attacks and wherever I was – on a plane or on a train – I’d start screaming,” she says.
“Looking back, the panic attacks were just this need to create another feeling other than sickness, so I’d create pain.
“I’d even give myself black eyes from hitting myself.”
Though talented Lizzie had won a place at drama school in Manchester, she lived alone and didn’t socialise.
She says: “I didn’t do anything for 12 years. I went to drama school in Manchester but lived on my own because I didn’t want to be around others.
“I didn’t go to parties. I didn’t drink.”
In 2023, Lizzie took a dream job as a Christmas elf in Lapland – but was sent home months later after her weight plummeted from nine stone to just five stone two pounds.
I cherish every day. I’ve gone from seeing my daughter’s life slipping away to seeing her embracing it
Michelle DellMum
She says: “Being abroad, I was just unable to eat anything cooked by others, so I’d be eating breakfast bars from the local shop and not a lot else.
“It got even worse when my flatmate out there got sick.
“I didn’t tell anyone about my worries with food but I was sent home from the job.
“Not long after that I lost my acting agent because I just wasn’t well enough to get parts.
“It’s really sad because I wanted to live, but I’d completely lost all joy in life.
“I was sick of looking at myself in the mirror covered in bruises.”
Michelle, who works as a college lecturer with inclusion students, was desperate to help her daughter.
They saw private and NHS specialists, as well as multiple therapists.
What is emetophobia and how can you overcome it?
By Nik and Eva Speakman
Emetophobia is an intense fear of vomiting. It is a debilitating and often misunderstood phobia.
It can manifest in a range of obsessive-compulsive behaviours, such as excessive sanitisation, extreme food restrictions, eating disorders, health anxiety, and avoidance of travel, medical environments, and even children.
Social withdrawal is common, with many sufferers limiting contact with others for fear of illness, vomit and vomit-causing bugs.
While it is especially prevalent among women, emetophobia remains under-recognised within the medical community, despite being the most common phobia seen in our clinic.
It’s estimated that up to 5.5million people in the UK may be affected, yet provision of effective treatment is still limited.
Emetophobia is not innate. It typically stems from a distressing childhood experience, such as a traumatic incident at school or mirroring an anxious parent’s behaviour.
The key to recovery lies in positively reframing these formative experiences with an experienced therapist.
Using a simple self-help exercise can really help. Create two columns – Fears vs Facts – to challenge distorted beliefs with logic and evidence.
She says: “We were in despair because my husband and I felt like we had exhausted every option.
“Then I saw there was an emetophobia class with The Speakmans in February 2025 in Manchester and I just booked it instantly.
“I held out no hope but I was just happy Lizzie was willing to go.”
Life change experts Nik and Eva Speakman are known for helping thousands overcome phobias.
Lizzie says: “I went into their workshop and by the time I left they’d literally changed my life.
“I shared my story, very nervously on stage. They completely changed the way I had thought about things.
“They told me: ‘Being sick didn’t nearly kill your mum, it was the egg. Being sick had actually helped save her.’
“Twenty-five minutes into speaking to them, I felt completely different.
“Two weeks later, I couldn’t believe it. I got norovirus.
“I’d spent 12 years trying to avoid being sick and now I had it, full on.
“But I was absolutely fine. I was sick all night, non-stop, no issue, no panic attacks.”
Today, Lizzie is thriving – eating normally, running a performing arts school and planning a holiday to Greece.
She says: “I still have some of the thoughts but they don’t stop me from eating three meals a day, piling the food on. I just don’t worry about being sick anymore.
“I used to think I wouldn’t be here for much longer. Now, it’s like I am living properly because I haven’t for so long’.”
Michelle remains full of gratitude having nearly lost her life and watching her daughter turn her life around.
“I cherish every day,” she says. “I’ve gone from seeing my daughter’s life slipping away to seeing her embracing it. I will forever be grateful to The Speakmans.”

Winter Fuel payment
The Winter Fuel Payment is made every year to help cover the cost of energy over the colder months.
It has been changed in recent months so that fewer can claim.
However, the cash boost, worth up to £300, is still valuable for those who quality – particularly those on Pension Credit.
The cash is usually paid in November and December, with some made up until the end of January the following year.
If you haven’t got your payment by then, you need to call the office that pays your benefits.
Households eligible for the payment are usually told via a letter sent in October or November each year.
If you think you meet the criteria, but don’t automatically get the winter fuel payment, you will have to apply on the government’s website.
The Child Winter Heating Assistance
If you’re based in Scotland, you could receive a child winter heating assistance payment of £255.80.
You get child winter heating payment for a child or young person under 19 who lives in Scotland and who is entitled to:
the highest rate of the care component of child disability payment (CDP) or disability living allowance (DLA), or
the enhanced rate of the daily living component of adult disability payment (ADP) or personal independence payment (PIP).
They must be entitled to the relevant disability benefit during the ‘qualifying week’, which is the week beginning on the third Monday in September (w/c Septmber 15 in 2025).
You do not have to make a claim for the payment, but it should be paid by Social Security Scotland, usually in November.
If you think you’re entitled but have not received payment by the end of December, you should contact Social Security Scotland on 0800 182 2222.
Warm Home Discount
The Warm Home Discount is an automatic £150 discount off energy bills.
As the money is a discount, there is no money paid to you, but you’ll get the payment automatically if your electricity supplier is part of the scheme and you qualify.
You’ll have to be in receipt of one of the following benefits to qualify for one of the payments:
If you don’t claim any of the above benefits, you won’t be eligible for the payment.
Cold Weather payment
Cold weather payments are dished out when temperatures are recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees or below, on average, for seven consecutive days between November 1 and March 31.
Eligible Brits are then given extra money to help heat their homes.
You get £25 for each seven-day period where the weather is below zero Celsius on average during this time frame.
You can check if your area has had a cold weather payment by popping your postcode into the government’s tool on its website.
You’ll need to be on certain benefits to qualify, which are:
Student maintenance loans are paid to university students to help cover living costs such as rent.
They are usually paid at the start of each new term, so you typically receive three payments a year.
Maintenance Loans are paid straight into your student bank account in three (almost) equal instalments throughout the year.
The amount you will receive depends on where in the UK you’re from, whether you’ll be living at home or not, your household income and how long you’re studying for.
The average Maintenance Loan is approximately £6,116 a year.
Are you missing out on benefits?
YOU can use a benefits calculator to help check that you are not missing out on money you are entitled to
Entitledto’s free calculator determines whether you qualify for various benefits, tax credit and Universal Credit.

He worked with his late wife Janet on books together
Some of his most famous work includes lasting favourites Peepo!, The Baby’s Catalogue and Each Peach Pear Plum.
He came to writing in his late thirties, when his wife Janet grew tired of illustrating non-fiction and asked him to write a story for her to illustrate.
Allan later recalled the moment was “as if she turned a key in my back and I was off”.
The Ahlbergs went on to produce 37 books together, and Allan also wrote more than 100 others, some in Janet’s lifetime, and some since her death from breast cancer in 1994.
Following Janet’s death, Allan worked with illustrators such asRaymond Briggsand Bruce Ingman.
His career came full circle in a series of collaborations with his daughter Jessica including Half a Pig and a pop-up set of anarchic variations on the tale of Goldilocks.
Belinda Ioni Rasmussen, CEO of Walker Books Group, which published some of his books, said: “He was enormously playful in spirit and language and had the ability to make you smile in one sentence.
“Allan inspired generations of children’s writers, inspired all of us who worked with him, and inspired artists to make some of their very best work.”
LIFE’S biggest moments you’ll never forget include holding your newborn, seeing your child’s first steps – and getting the keys to your first home, according to new research.
The study, conducted across the UK, revealed the memories Brits treasure most – with events like driving solo, falling in love, and a child’s first day at school all ranking high.

The poll of 2,000 adults also found people in the UK experience around five unforgettable moments each year.
Saying goodbye to a loved one and hearing a child say their first words also made the top 25.
Other standout moments include passing exams, learning to ride a bike, and being told “I love you” for the very first time.
“These simple yet powerful experiences often stay with us for life.
The research was commissioned by Samsung to celebrate the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold7 – its slimmest foldable phone yet, built for capturing life’s biggest (and smallest) memories.
As part of the campaign, the tech giant released a touching poem, Life Unfolds Fast, written by Georgie Jones and narrated by Martin Kemp.
The accompanying film showcases real-life moments from people of all walks of life – and intimate snapshots from Martin’s own family history.
Martin Kemp said: “Some of my life’s greatest memories are those simple moments at home – playing with my kids in the garden, holding Harley and Roman as babies, and singing with my wife in the car.
“These are moments that truly define our lives.
“Sharing these personal glimpses allows people to see how small, intimate moments become the big memories we want to go back to over again.”
/
The majority of adults (76 per cent) said unforgettable experiences shape who we are, while 85 per cent regularly look back at special memories on their phones.
Whether it’s to lift their mood, reflect on happy times, or share with loved ones, phones have become the modern memory box.
In fact, 60 per cent said their digital memories are just as precious as physical keepsakes like photo albums or letters.
But it’s not all picture-perfect. Nearly half of those surveyed admitted they worry about forgetting key life events.
For 46 per cent, the biggest concern is losing memories involving loved ones – such as family milestones or meaningful conversations.
That’s why so many turn to their phones, with 41 per cent using photos and videos to hold onto those treasured experiences.
However, 49 per cent confessed they feel anxious when their phone storage gets full, fearing they might miss capturing something important.
The average Brit replays special videos or looks at meaningful photos about four times a month.
And some are proper memory collectors – with one in eight claiming to have more than 10 hours of footage saved on their phone.
Looking ahead, the most anticipated future milestone is seeing someone close to them achieve something they’ve worked hard for – from graduating to landing a dream job.
Annika Bizon from Samsung said: “Our research shows that over 40 per cent of us take photos and videos for the sole purpose to not forget our best memories.
“It allows you to capture and revisit the memories you never want to forget, feeling their warmth and emotion time and time again.”
The campaign encourages people to reflect on their own milestones – big or small – and not to let life’s most precious moments pass unnoticed.
Because sometimes, it’s not just the big wins we remember most – but the quiet, everyday moments that unfold in between.

But there are ways to drive down the cost of your weekly shop, starting with help through the Household Support Fund (HSF).
The £742million fund has been shared between councils in England who then decide how to allocate their share.
Some are directing cash payments to residents in need while others are distributing supermarket vouchers to cover the summerholidays.
We’ve rounded up what some local authorities are offering below.
We won’t have covered all the councils offering help, so if your local authority isn’t included it’s worth checking with it to see what you are eligible for.
Most councils have pages on their websites dedicated to the Household Support Fund where you’ll find details on who is eligible and what you’re in line for.
You can find what local council area you fall under by visiting www.gov.uk/find-local-council.
That said, below are some of the councils offering qualifying households supermarket vouchers.
Bracknell Forest Council
Schools in Bracknell are automatically distributing supermarket vouchers to children registered for free school meals.
These vouchers have been paid for through Bracknell Forest Council’s allotment of the Household Support Fund.
Families can get FREE washing machines, fridges and kids’ beds or £200 payments this summer – and you can apply now
The council has not confirmed how much the vouchers are worth.
Wakefield Metropolitan District Counci
Wakefield Metropolitan District Council is issuing supermarket vouchers worth £50 to families receiving council tax support.
The vouchers are being issued via letters on July 21 and take up to seven days to arrive.
Full instructions on how to redeem the vouchers will be included in the letters.
Once the voucher has been redeemed, it doesn’t have to be used all at once and can be used several times until it is spent.
Nottingham City Council
Nottingham City Council is distributing £75 supermarket vouchers to households each month until March 2026.
There is a limit on the number of vouchers being shared each month meaning you have to act fast to claim one.
Applications for this month’s vouchers opened on July 7 so may all have been allocated for July.
Nottingham City Council has said the dates applications for vouchers will open between August and next March will be confirmed “later in July”.
The vouchers are worth £90 per child meaning you could get £180 if you have two kids.
You don’t need to apply for the vouchers as they are being sent automatically to emails or as letters.
The council’s partner, Blackhawk, is issuing a 16-digit personalised code and instructions on how to redeem the vouchers on the Blackhawk website – ealingcouncil.select-your-reward.co.uk.
Devon County Council
Devon County Council has issued supermarket vouchers worth more than £90 to 22,000 families with children on free school meals.
The £90 is equivalent to £15 per week for the six week school holiday.
The council has said the vouchers can be redeemed in major supermarkets but hasn’t said which ones.
Portsmouth City Council
Portsmouth City Council is issuing £50 supermarket vouchers to children on benefits-related free school meals.
You might also be eligible if your child is not on free school meals and you’re on a low income, and can apply for the vouchers from the end of the school term.
You can also forward your email address to the council and will be contacted when the application window opens.
More details can be found via www.portsmouth.gov.uk/services/benefits-and-money-advice/help-and-support/money-advice/household-support-fund.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council
Families on free school meals are eligible for supermarket food vouchers being distributed by schools in the area.
You do not need to apply as they are being issued automatically.
Food vouchers may also be available for children under five years if certain criteria is met.
To receive a voucher, children must be living in Bournemouth, Christchurch, or Poole and meet one of the following criteria:
currently claiming 2 year old early education funding at an early years setting in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole during the term
currently claiming Early Years Pupil Premium funding for 3 and 4 year olds at an early years setting in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole during the term (this is different to the early education funding available to all 3 and 4 year olds)
currently have an open case with a social worker or Early Help family support worker and are of pre-school age
Food vouchers for this group of families have to be applied for, with more details on the BCP Council website.
Household Support Fund explained
Sun Savers EditorLana Clementsexplains what you need to know about the Household Support Fund.
Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains what you need to know about the Household Support Fund.
If you’re battling to afford energy and water bills, food or other essential items and services, the Household Support Fund can act as a vital lifeline.
The financial support is a little-known way for struggling families to get extra help with the cost of living.
Every council in England has been given a share of £421million cash by the government to distribute to local low income households.
Each local authority chooses how to pass on the support. Some offer vouchers whereas others give direct cash payments.
In many instances, the value of support is worth hundreds of pounds to individual families.
Just as the support varies between councils, so does the criteria for qualifying.
Many councils offer the help to households on selected benefits or they may base help on the level of household income.
The key is to get in touch with your local authority to see exactly what support is on offer.
The last round ran until the end of March 2025, but was extended.
The most current round is running between April 2025 and March 2026.

A FIRST-TIME mum dreading flying with her baby daughter has shared how she got through it without any tears
Lala, from Germany, took to social media to share her genius parenting hack just in time for any summerholidays you have planned.
2
Lalkal was nervous for her daughter’s first flightCredit: tiktok/@lalaleluu
And the best part is that the travel hack costs just 45p.
In the clip, Lala and her partner could be seen boarding the plane with their baby asleep in her mum’s arms.
She said: “This was her very first flight and we timed it perfectly with her nap. She slept right through takeoff but eventually she woke up.”
So how did the parents keep her entertained for the three hour flight? Lettuce.
READ MORE PARENTING HACKS
Lala said they often give their tot lettuce when they’re trying to eat in peace, so decided to try it on the plane.
“It always keeps her occupied for so long. And I thought, if it works at home, why would it not work on a plane?” she explained.
Like most kids, her daughter was obsessed with tearing things up and trying to put them in her mouth.
“Like bread, paper, tissue, anything. But bread is way too messy, like there are crumbs everywhere,” she explained. And with paper or tissue, we always have to keep an eye on her that she doesn’t eat it. But lettuce?
“Lettuce is genius. It has a really fun texture and it’s not messy at all. And it’s safe if she decides to munch on it. Not just safe, but it’s actually a really refreshing and healthy snack for her.”
“This kept her occupied almost the entire flight.”

I tested the viral £17.99 Amazon underseat cabin bag to see how many outfits I could fit in
While Lala’s easy travel hack was worth giving a go, it’s worth noting that some airlines may not let you bring it on, depending on what country you are flying to.
Others may not let you bring it into the country when you land so you’ll have to chuck it away.
But that won’t matter too much as the hack costs just 45p as two heads of lettuce cost 90p from Waitrose.
The clip quickly went viral on her TikTok account @lalaleluu with over 1.7 million views and 267k likes.
Plenty of parents took to the comments thanking her for the advice.
One person wrote: “Wow this is genius. About to take my baby on her first flight alone and I might try this.”
How to make travelling with kids a breeze
IT can be stressful travelling with kids, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier. Here’s five we’d recommend:
Snacks
It might sound simple, but it’s a good idea to pack a LOT of snacks. Think of how much you might need, and double it. After all, it doesn’t matter if you have too much – your kids can eat it another time – but it will be a big issue if you run out. There are also snack boxes with lots of little dividers that are great for long journeys as kids can pick at those throughout.
Entertainment
This covers a whole range of things – from a tablet to watch films or play games if you’ve got older kids, to books and colouring. It’s advisable to pack a variety of options, especially if you’re on a long journey or have various legs on your haul.
Toys
If you’ve got a baby or a toddler, there are some sensory-type toys you can buy that can really help keep little ones entertained. These include ones that you stick on the windows of a plane, or on a tray on a highchair, that they can spin and play with to their hearts’ content.
Equipment
There are a whole host of things on the market that aim to make sleeping on a plane loads easier. These include a hammock that you can attack to your tray which hangs down to put your feet on. You can also get blow up cushions to turn a seat into a bed for littles, and neck cushions that boast you will be able to use for a decent night’s sleep wherever you are.
Yourselves!
Don’t underestimate how entertaining you are to your kids. Learn some games you can play with them, and songs you can sing, as kids always love the opportunity to have one-on-one time with their parents.
Another commented: “I have a 14 hour flight with my baby next month. I’ll just bring a whole field.”
“You, Lala, have just unlocked a whole new toy for all of us mums out there thank you,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “This is some next level parenting!! Bravo!!”
A BOSS has been branded as being “beyond diabolical” over the text messages they sent to an employee regarding her maternity leave.
Ben Askins, a UK career expert, regularly shares videos calling out questionable workplace behaviour to his social media sites.

The boss seems more concerned with how the maternity leave with impact the businessCredit: Not known, clear with picture desk
In a recent post, Ben highlighted an “ugly” response to a pregnant woman’s “reasonable” request for maternity leave where he branded her employer as being in “the top three of the worst bosses I’ve come across”.
Ben shared the text exchange to his TikTok account which has since notched up nearly 590,000 views.
The text message exchange begins with the pregnant employee confirming that her manager had received her “email about maternity leave requests for February”.
The boss then replied: “I saw it, and I wanted to talk to you about it.
“Is there any way you’d consider reducing how long you want to take?
“If you are sure you are going to go ahead with it, would you be open to discussing it all. I am just a bit worried about the costs from our side.”
Clearly taken aback by her manager’s reaction, the female employee tried to justify her reason for taking her legally-entitled maternity leave.
To help ease the situation, she offered to be as helpful as possible to the person who would temporarily filling her position.
She wrote in reply: “Oh ok, um I was kind of hoping to take as much time as possible.
“This is my first child and wanted to get as used to being as parent as possible, especially as my family lives quite far away.”
Vick Hope finally reveals pregnancy – and date she’s going on maternity leave from BBC Radio One
She added: “I will ensure all my responsibilities are handed over seamlessly and help interview for mat cover but I really do want to take the full amount.”
The boss though continued to badger his employee over the “burden” she was allegedly creating by going on maternity leave.
He wrote: “The challenge is that this is a small company, and it’s quite a burden to have to pay both your mat leave and your mat cover.
“I am just not sure how we can cope.”
The woman though continued to advocate for her rights and even offered to assist her employer while she was off on leave.
She said: “I appreciate that but this isn’t fair to put on me, I am happy to support but I am well within my rights to do this.
“I will try and support however I can, make sure everything is in place for a smooth handover and can also be on call for emergencies if that helps?”
The concerned employee then ended the message by saying: “Is my pregnancy going to be a problem for my role in the company?”
The boss then responded: “Not at all! Your pregnancy is absolutely fine by me, we are a family company.”
However, they then continued: “[J]ust not ideal timing for me that is all. But if you are not going to help out and reduce the time then nothing really further for us to talk about I guess.”
As Ben read out the series of text message in the video, he couldn’t help interject with his own comments about the situation, calling the manager out for their “disgusting” behaviour.
Ben also claimed the boss in this case was “fully aware of what he’s doing”.
He said: “He’s trying to use guilt to basically get her to kind of waive her rights [to take the full length of maternity leave]… because you can then sort of go, ‘Oh no, she agreed with it.”
Ben also added the woman’s request was perfectly “reasonable” and noted she had gone above and beyond by offering additional assistance in regard to the recruitment and handover to her replacement.
The expert also added that it was not the woman’s “problem” the business may struggle financially due to her leave entitlement and it was her right to take maternity leave.
Ben said: “That is not her f**king problem, that is your problem.
“If she’s not an equity holder, she’s not a director in the business, it’s not her company, that is a YOUR problem.”
The clip has gained a lot of attention, along with nearly 1,000 comments, many outraged by the behaviour of the boss.
One person wrote: “This is the kind of boss that makes you start looking for another job while you’re on leave.”
Another added: “She should not even have to justify anything.”
A third said: “The gaslighting and guilt is beyond diabolical.”
Others took issue with the manipulative language used by the boss in the text exchange.
One commenter said: “’Not ideal timing for me.’ Yea, I mean sheesh, couldn’t think of your boss while conceiving your baby?”
Another asked: “Did they just suggest she get an abortion for the sake of the company’s bottom line?!?”
While a third posted: “’If you’re not going to help out’ is an insane thing to say especially after she already stated she’s more than happy to arrange cover and everything else before she leaves.”
From the video, it is unclear what jurisdiction the worker was in, but many commentators noted that maternity leave was a legal employment right in a number of countries, including Australia, and the employee may have grounds to take legal action.
One commentator wrote: “Wow… save this, go to an employer lawyer. Get settlement, enjoy!”
Another opined: “This is a slam dunk mat discrimination case. Employers need to understand that claim awards are potentially unlimited.”
Other commentators used the opportunity to relate their own horror stories about requesting maternity leave.
One person wrote: “I had a line manager refuse to discuss it with me because ‘your baby could still die right up until the end’.”
Another commentator added: “My old manager tried to convince me to have an abortion… they wondered why I didn’t want to go back after having my baby.”
While a third said: “My old boss tried to tell me I only got half maternity time with my second child cos I’d already done the full maternity bonding time with my first.”
While most comments expressed outrage by the response of the boss, there were some commentators who said they understood where the employer was coming from.
One reply said: “Whilst he’s being improper, you can’t avoid the fact that small companies will avoid employing women of childbearing age to reduce costs.”
Another commentator said: “For small businesses, maternity leave – even if protected by law – can have a massive impact on the company, especially if it’s not performing well financially.”
Someone else posted: “[S]o many companies like this don’t like hiring young women because the potential for taking maternity leave is high.”
One comment from a disheartened female worker gained more than 1,600 likes which said: “We’re judged by society if we don’t want kids and then punished by work when we do.
“We’re judged for working 9-5 and having a career with kids but then also judged if we stay home full time with kids. Women can’t win.”
Under the Fair Work Act, all employees in Australia are able to get up to 12 months unpaid parental leave, if they have completed at least 12 months of continuous service with their employer.
The Paid Parental Leave scheme is run by Services Australia which provides financial support to eligible working parents to take time off work so they can care for a newborn or recently adopted child.
Some employees are able to receive parental leave payments from the Australian Government Parental Leave Pay, while others will get employer funded parental leave payments.
In some cases, it is possible a person can receive both.
