Lucy and Stephen’s toxic romance returns to our screens in just a few hours
Fans of Tell Me Lies are eagerly awaiting the return of Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco.
Adapted from Carola Lovering’s bestselling novel, the gripping drama follows the toxic romance between Lucy (portrayed by Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (Jackson White). After crossing paths at university, the pair become entangled in an intense sexual relationship, which soon bleeds into every corner of their lives.
The series operates across two timelines, alternating between present-day scenes in 2015 and the characters’ university years spanning 2007 to 2008. Its debut series launched to favourable reviews in 2022, securing a 75% rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics.
The second season, whilst not receiving a critics’ rating on the platform, was awarded an impressive 90% score by viewers. Whether series three will garner comparable acclaim remains to be seen, but it certainly appears fans are in for plenty of drama.
Disney Plus’ official synopsis hints: “Season three follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they’ve rekindled their tumultuous romance in time for spring semester at Baird College,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

A trailer was unveiled in December 2025, offering a sneak peek of the drama to come. The footage begins with an emotional Lucy recording a heartfelt apology video.
“I need to apologise to everyone, so I am making this tape to say that I am so sorry,” she declares.
Is Tell Me Lies Season 3 being released all at once?
Unfortunately, fans won’t be able to binge-watch this season. The first two episodes will be released on Tuesday, January 13, with the rest of the series set to drop weekly.
