Major UK airport left with no running water AGAIN

A MAJOR airport has been forced to close restaurants and toilets due to another water outage – just weeks its last shortage.

Passengers at Gatwick Airport have slammed the water outage, with many “turned away from restaurants”.

The outage has been caused by a burst water main, which has affected the supply to the airport.

As a result, a number of toilets have been closed with no running water, while food and drink outlets in the North Terminal are unable to serve anything.

One source told The Sun: “There were no announcements, they just started turning away everyone at the restaurants.

“Someone from the airport then directed us to Starbucks, which was also shut.

“Water fountains weren’t operational either. People are treating the toilets like portaloos at a festival, its going to be a biohazard soon.”

Others on social media also complained, with one saying: “No water at Gatwick again so restaurants are closing.”

Another said: “Yet another water outage at Gatwick Airport.”

A Gatwick Airport spokesperson told Sun Travel: “A water issue is causing some disruption in the local area.

“The problem is affecting water supply in both terminals and is currently under investigation by SES Water.

“At present, there has been no impact on flights.

“We will provide further updates and apologise for any inconvenience to passengers.

The water in the area is covered by SES Water, which covers parts of Surrey, Kent and London.

A spokesperson told The Sun: “We have a burst water main which is temporarily affecting supply including to Gatwick Airport.

“Our teams are on site and working to repair the burst as quickly and safely as possible.

“We are sorry for the disruption this is causing customers and will continue to provide updates.”

It comes just weeks after a similar water outage left the airport with no running water, toilets or bars.

On July 26, a power outage at a water treatment plant in southeast England caused issues with low pressure and loss of supply at the major airport.

Passengers called it “disgraceful” with images showing vending machines with no water left and dirty toilets.
