Sept. 1 (UPI) — Police in Brandenburg, Germany, said they found several improvised explosive devices at a coal-fired power plant in Tunow-Preilack, some of which hadn’t been detonated.
Bomb disposal experts from the State Criminal Police Office were able to diffuse the IEDs.
There were no injuries, police said.
Power company 50Hertz said there was a “brief interruption of service” but that all power lines were back in operation at the substation. It distributes electricity from the Jänschwalde, Germany, plant.
Brandenburg Police in Potsdam asked the public for information or witnesses who may have seen something on Tuesday morning.
Also on Tuesday, Germany accused Russia of responsibility for a drone attack at Leipzig’s airport last month and announced new measures against Moscow.
While it’s not yet known who placed the IEDs at the power substation, the German interior minister said Germany is, “a daily target of hybrid attacks.”
