Robson Green reveals ‘saddest thing’ about Grantchester ending ‘I burst into tears’

Grantchester star Robson Green has said he ‘burst into tears’ as he shared details of the final days of filming the last ever series of the ITV crime drama

Grantchester favourite Robson Green has revealed there are just five days of filming remaining on the final ever series of the beloved ITV drama.

The announcement came over the summer that the crime series would be drawing to a close after its 11th run.

The popular ITV programme features Robson, 60, as Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, whose character teams up with vicar Alphy Kottaram, portrayed by Rishi Nair, to crack cases in the Cambridgeshire village.

The series draws inspiration from James Runcie’s literary works.

During Tuesday’s This Morning appearance, Robson, who has been busy with another venture exploring the globe’s finest walking routes, spoke about Grantchester’s conclusion, reports Wales Online.

The performer, who has starred in the programme since its 2014 debut, revealed to presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: “We’re filming the final series, I’ve got five days left, I finish next Tuesday!”

Speaking about his Grantchester colleagues both past and present, he continued: “That’s the saddest thing about it all, I’m going to miss that family of wonderful people, I’ve got so many wonderful memories.

“If you watch Grantchester, I play a character Inspector Keating, and I wear this one suit. A brown suit. In every scene, in every episode, and every series and I hung it up for the last time on Friday.”

Discussing the poignant moment, Robson confessed: “I burst into tears!”

It comes as Robson, reflecting on the show’s conclusion, said during the summer: “From the very beginning, I have had the incredible fortune to be part of this extraordinary team of talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who have become more than colleagues. They have become family.

“I have made friendships forged through shared laughter, challenges, and triumphs.

“The bonds we’ve formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene within the Grantchester world has been filmed.

“Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.

“Emma Kingsman Lloyd and Daisy Coulam…. from that very first day you gave me the extraordinary opportunity to be part of this experience..

“It has been an honour to share in the magic of Grantchester, and I am forever grateful for the memories, the friendships, and the love that this journey has given me. I hope I made you proud.”

This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV X.

Bake Off fans fume as popular baker becomes seventh contestant to leave show

Lesley’s time in the Bake Off tent came to an end after a tough meringue-themed week saw her struggle to impress the judges and become the seventh contestant to leave the competition

Hairdresser Lesley has become the seventh baker to be eliminated from The Great British Bake Off after struggling during the show’s first-ever meringue-themed week.

In Tuesday night’s episode, the remaining contestants were faced with three demanding challenges designed to test their precision and patience.

For the signature bake, they were asked to create mini meringue tarts, followed by a classic yet notoriously tricky soufflé in the technical round.

Finally, the showstopper challenge required the bakers to produce a visually impressive meringue ice cream cake – a task that pushed even the most confident contestants to their limits.

Despite her best efforts, Lesley’s bakes failed to impress the judges, and she was told by co-host Alison Hammond that her time in the tent had come to an end.

Business development executive Toby, meanwhile, was named star baker by presenter Noel Fielding after delivering consistently strong results across all three challenges.

Lesley, 59, from Kent, admitted she had expected her departure. “Do you know what, I knew it was coming,” she said.

“It’s like ripping the plaster off! Thanks so much for the experience, it has been amazing. I couldn’t get my meringue right and had resigned myself to the fact I’d be going. But I’m proud that I made it to week seven. The other bakers gave me a massive cuddle, which meant the world.”

Judge Dame Prue Leith praised Lesley for her enthusiasm and warmth throughout the competition. “I’m really sorry to see Lesley go,” she said.

“She’s a remarkable woman and, in a way, she’s my ideal baker – she’s just really having a good time. That’s what Bake Off is all about.”

Following her exit, Lesley reflected on how much she had gained from her time in the famous tent. “I think I’ve grown as a person and feel more confident in myself and my abilities,” she said.

“I’ve learned new skills, trusted my gut feeling, and realised you need to step through fear and take yourself out of your comfort zone, that’s how you grow. I’ve had the time of my life.”

Having baked since the age of ten, Lesley said her highlight on the show was “winning the technical in chocolate week.”

Looking ahead, she hopes to open a small baking school, run a “cake shed” where people can buy homemade treats, and write a cookbook inspired by her late grandmother’s traditional recipes.

Lesley will appear on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice with Jo Brand and Tom Allen on Friday, October 17, at 8pm on Channel 4.

This Morning’s Alison Hammond slammed over number of errors during Priscilla Presley chat

This Morning fans rushed to social media to complain about Alison Hammond’s constant mispronunciation of rock and roll legend Elvis during her chat with Priscilla Presley

Of late Alison Hammond has had nothing but praise heaped on her as she became the nation’s sweetheart. But it looks as though her run of good luck may be coming to an end as she has found herself on the receiving end of harsh criticism by viewers of This Morning.

The 50 year old TV presenter, who had her first taste of fame back in 2002 while appearing on Big Brother, was introducing her next guest when viewers noticed that she was constantly mis-pronouncing the name of Priscilla Presley’s legendary ex husband – Elvis. Instead she kept referring to him as Alvis.

Priscilla attended the popular daytime TV show and sat on the infamous sofa with Dermot O’Leary and Alison to promote her latest memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis.

But before Priscilla started talking about her life with the rock and roll legend before and after their split, fans felt the need to air their feelings on X. One person said: “Who is Alvis, Alison?”

Another added: “Just waiting for Priscilla to ask who the hell is this person Alvis you keep mentioning.” A third person joked: “She fell in love with Alvis. Good job Elvis didn’t find out about that!”

Meanwhile a fourth added: “I’d love to see Priscilla correct Alison on name pronunciation.” “Just waiting for Priscilla to ask who the hell is this person Alvis you keep mentioning,” said a fifth.

And sharing the same sentiment, a sixth chimed in saying: “Wasn’t Alvis one of those Chipmunks?” During her interview on This Morning, Priscilla opened up on the moment she first met the iconic star, who sadly passed away in 1977 at the age of 42 from a cardiac arrest.

The star, 80, was only 14 at the time she met Elvis in 1959, who was 10 years her senior at the time. By 1968, the pair welcomed their only daughter into the world, Lisa Marie Presley.

But due to his demanding career as a rock and roll icon, hectic travelling schedule and a string of infidelities, Priscilla finally had enough of the marriage.

And it was at this point she embarked on an affair in 1972 and finalised their divorce the following year. After her divorce, Priscilla met Brazilian screenwriter Marco Garibaldi and they welcomed a son named Navarone, in 1987.

In her latest memoir, the businesswoman and author recalls the moment Elvis was considering hiring a hitman to murder her boyfriend, Mike Stone who worked as a karate Instructor.

Elvis struggled with the idea of Priscilla being with another man she entered into a relationship with Mike while legally married.

But this came after she found out a host of women had been sending the singer letters to their home address, and this apparently, was enough proof she needed that their marriage had come to an end.

In the book, according to Fox News, she wrote: “When I turned the key in the mailbox, however, what poured out wasn’t bills or junk mail. The mailbox was stuffed full of letters from girls. I finally held written proof of what I’d always feared. I was deeply hurt, but I was also furious. I called Elvis and demanded an explanation.”

She continued: “When that tactic failed, he resorted to saying the girls were all lying. This time, though, turning the tables didn’t work. If Elvis was having affairs that were none of my business, then it was none of his business what I was doing. The close friendship that Mike and I had developed turned into an affair.”

But on learning about her affair, she revealed: “Elvis found the thought of me with another man unbearable. In the weeks after my departure, he told the guys that Mike had to die. He even asked Joe [Esposito] to find a hit man. Eventually, Elvis was talked out of eliminating Mike. Joe warned me to be careful. When I offered to bring Lisa [Marie Presley] to Vegas for one of Elvis’s shows, Joe advised against it.

Priscilla added: “Seeing me might set Elvis off. Over time, and with a lot of persuasion from his father and the guys, Elvis gradually calmed down and gave up the idea of killing Mike, thank God.”

In this instalment, the amateur bakers were tasked with the Monkey Bread challenge.

As Alison Hammond, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith chatted to the hopefuls, fans highlighted a hygiene mistake.

It involved contestant Nadia Mercuri, 41, who is a hairdresser from Liverpool.

Viewers spotted how Nadia touched her hair followed by the food she was preparing.

One wrote on X: “I really wanna just grab of all Nadia’s hair and tie it up properly!!”

Another added: “Stop touching your hair NADIA and then touching the food – disgusting!”

While a third said: “It really bugs me that these women are just letting their hair freely go over the food like that.”

Nadia ultimately advanced to the next episode – with bridal designer Carol “Pui Man” Li being eliminated.

It was recently revealed Bake Off was rejected for five years before arriving on our screens.

Back in 2010, the now-adored programme made its debut on BBC Two.

Bake Off star Andy Ryan reveals he’s still a mechanic despite TV success as he sets his sights on All Stars return

Co-creator Richard McKerrow recalled himself and Anna Beattie fighting for bosses to put their faith into the format.

Speaking at Edinburgh TV Festival, he shared: “We pitched Bake Off for four or five years.

“We were told it would be like watching paint dry, no one was interested.”

The Great British Bake Off made the move from the BBC to Channel 4 in 2017.

This decision saw judge Paul Hollywood being the only star to remain on board.

Fellow original judge Mary Berry as well as hosts Mel & Sue all opted to bow out.

Paul was joined by Prue Leith and new host Noel Fielding, with various co-hosts over the years.

Alison Hammond admits relief over This Morning’s NTA win after string of scandals

Alison Hammond has expressed her ‘relief’ at This Morning’s win at the NTAs last night after Dermot O’Leary said the show has been ‘through the mill’

Alison Hammond has expressed her ‘relief’ at This Morning’s big win at the National Television Awards last night. The presenter, 50, provides cover on ITV’s flagship magazine show alongside Dermot O’Leary on Fridays and phoned into the programme after the big win to tell regular hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard just how grateful she felt that they had emerged victorious from the public vote.

The programme, which has aired on ITV since 1989, won in the Daytime category, having fought off competition from Scam Interceptors, Loose Women and James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen. The show managed to claim the title back after two years of losing out to The Repair Shop and The Chase.

Alison said: “I’m still buzzing from last night, what a brilliant night. It was just lovely. We hadn’t had it for two years running now and what’s so incredible is when our audience vote for us, we know we’re doing okay. It was just such a relief and we’re just so grateful that everyone picked up the phone and voted for us.”

The former Big Brother star has also made a name for herself interviewing A-List celebrity guests on the programme and has chatted to superstars like Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling and once ‘married’ The Rock on the show. But just before hanging up, she teased that she was off to interview Barbie star Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.

Over the last few years, the show has been through numerous lineup changes following the departure of long-serving hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. The duo, who began presenting together in 2009, first came under fire when they were alleged to have jumped the queue to file past Queen Elizabeth’s coffin in September 2022.

Then, Phillip, who first appeared on the programme in 2002 and initially presented alongside Fern Britton, admitted to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger colleague, and subsequently stepped down from the show and ITV altogether. Holly followed suit soon after security guard Gavin Plumb was charged in connection with a scheme to abduct and kill her.

He was found guilty and last year was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years behind bars.

A litany of hosts like Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rochelle Humes and Andi Peters took their place over a period of weeks before Cat and Ben were given the top jobs.

But speaking in the winners room after their victory, former X Factor host Dermot, 52, acknowledged that the show had been ‘through the mill’ over the last few years, reports Manchester Evening News.

He said: “There’s a team that have worked on the show since I’ve started who have had to endure an awful lot of s**t.

Alison Hammond

“And they have turned up to work every day with the greatest grace and professionalism and uncertainty, and they’ve never done anything but put their hearts and souls into this job.

“Two and a half hours of live telly every day is quite something, but to endure it under the spotlight of being on the front page of the news. This show holds a mirror up to Britain and it also tries to entertain.”

He also noted that the team was thrilled to win, as he added: “There’s never an arrogance about this. We’re genuinely humbled by it. It means an awful lot, especially for those people who have been through the mill.”

Vanessa Feltz has last laugh after quitting This Morning amid brutal ITV cuts

Vanessa Feltz quit This Morning in March this year after 33 years to launch her own rival show on Channel 5

(Image: CHANNEL 5)

Vanessa Feltz has had the last laugh after quitting This Morning. Her Channel 5 lunchtime show has been extended by bosses. While her former colleagues at ITV are facing brutal spending cuts with the budget for shows and staff, Vanessa has been granted more time on air.

The talk show Vanessa was originally planned to air for “six months”, but now the TV presenter has confirmed the programme will run for “eight months at least”.

Vanessa, 63, told the new issue of Woman’s Own magazine: “We’ve just had an extension.

“We were commissioned for six months, but we’re running about eight months at least, there’ll be a Christmas break, and then we’re very much hoping to come back in the new year. We’re thrilled.”

The show – which sees Vanessa have straight-talking discussions on relationships, parenting, gossip, fashion, and other topics with celebrity guests – launched in March.

However, one show that month only raked in 83,000 viewers – a big contrast to rival, ITV’s Loose Women, which drew in 686,000 people.

And it has been reported that bosses at Channel 5 were thinking of ways to “revamp” Vanessa to attract more viewers.

A TV Insider claimed to the magazine: “Bosses have been locked in crisis talks and have been planning ways to immediately revamp the programme if there is to be a chance that it could be saved.”

The show also raised attention when it became the centre of an Ofcom storm after guest Karen Millen said that feeding children past six months breast milk was ‘weird‘ and selfish.’ The designer’s comments led to more than 2000 people complaining with Millen apologising for her comments.

However, Vanessa is proving popular as the show took home the prestigious Talk Show gong at the National Reality TV Awards on July 30 – beating the likes of BBC’s The Graham Norton Show and ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show.

Reacting to the award, Vanessa told London Beautiful Life Media: “I’m beside myself!”

Asked if she expected to win, the TV star continued: “Definitely not – you must be joking! The show’s only been going since the last week of March, it’s only July!

“And we’re up against all the greats – Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross, Alan Titchmarsh, absolutely everybody! So I was not. I was thinking – I had this knot in my stomach of nerves, and I was trying to give myself a sharp talking to like, ‘Don’t be silly, absolutely don’t stand a chance, the show’s brand-new, we’re never going to,’ and then here it is, we did!

“So, it’s one of those extraordinary moments. I’m shaking, and I’m thrilled to bits, and it’s lovely for the team, and it’s lovely for me, and it’s lovely for the audience. And I’m just delighted.”

Vanessa quit This Morning after 33 years in March this year.

Vanessa told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve been on ‘ This Morning ‘ since 1992. It’s been a long time . But I’m now doing my own show and I can’t do both.”

As she made her announcement, Vanessa praised the presenters and crew on This Morning for being “so lovely” about her decision.

She added: “When I told everyone I wouldn’t be able to do the show anymore, they were lovely about it. I heard from Alison Hammond and Holly Willoughby immediately and the bosses were charming. I’ll miss working with them all.”

Prue Leigh says ‘I’ve got to give up some time’ as she reveals her future on Bake Off

The Bake Off judges and Alison Hammon explain the secret ingredients that keep hit series on track

Bake Off Judges Paul and Prue with hosts Alison and Noel

The Great British Bake off will celebrate its 150th episode during the new series – and judge Prue Leigh hopes to create a slice of TV history herself.

Prue and Paul Hollywood are in charge once again of deciding which cakes are up to scratch. And the restaurateur, broadcaster, cookery writer and novelist loves the idea of still being on the Channel 4 show in her Nineties.

“Why not? I mean, I’m asked this question all the time and I always say the same thing: ‘I’ve got to give up some time, but I’m loving it.’ I just enjoy it. I look forward to it. I mean, it’s a lovely job for goodness sake. It’s a wonderful job, so I love it, but I want to go before I’m pushed.

Alison Hammond on Bake Off set
Alison Hammond insists Prue is the naughty one who stays up late(Image: Channel 4 / Love Productions)

“I don’t want some poor executive to have to come and say to me: ‘You know, Prue, I’m just wondering… you are 87 or something. Do you not think it’s time you just stepped down?’ I don’t want somebody to have to do that.

“And I shouldn’t say this, because they’ll cut my pay in half, but it’s such a piece of cake to do. It’s so easy. All I have to do is walk on, eat cake, walk off and get paid. What could be easier or nicer? And so it’s not an effort. Even at 5 o’clock in the morning, you don’t feel “Oh, I’ve got to go to work.” It’s not at all stressful. So I don’t think I’m conscious, at all, when we’re doing it, that we have to keep this show nice because

it’s somebody’s stress-free zone, it’s somebody’s therapy, it’s somebody’s quiet time when they can be with their family. It is all of those things, and I’m very glad it’s all of those things, but when we’re actually doing it, we’re just having a good time.”

Prue is now 85 but is often the last one standing when it comes to wrap parties on the Channel 4 series. Host Alison Hammond, who works alongside Noel Fielding added: “They say me and Noel are the naughty ones, but really and truly, it’s Paul and Prue. They’re the naughty ones. They’re the ones who are up late. We’re in bed by eight. Not together. Obviously.”

Bake Off returns next week for the 16th series. The new batch of 12 contestants features a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a drag king and two hairdressers hoping to make the cut.

Paul Hollywood believes the show, which moved from BBC1 to Channel 4 in 2017, should continue long beyond Prue and even his reign as judge. For him the show has proven itself and cemented a place on TV for the long haul.

Paul Hollywood
Paul Hollywood is the only original member of the Bake Up line up from the BBC years(Image: Channel 4 / Love Productions)

He said: “There should be a Bake Off forever now. Obviously, not in the current line-up. We will all go. But I think it should stay. It is an institution. It’s a cult now. It’s found its feet. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t go on.”

Prue added: “Like Match of the Day or something. There are some shows that just go on. It’s been going for 16 years. And what happens is the bakers know the atmosphere before they come in and they sort of join the club and they know how to behave. Very seldom, once or twice, we’ve had somebody who comes in at the beginning, who’s a bit not on the vibe. Not this year, but I remember one woman particularly wanting to diss her rivals and that didn’t last. She got it. She changed.”

Turning to discuss the competition, Paul says there are slightly less Hollywood handshakes than usual but the standard is v high. “If I don’t give a handshake it is ‘Paul’s been stingy’ if I give out too many it is Paul is ‘devaluing them’” he explains.

“I think this is an exceptional year. I think the standard of the baking has been phenomenal. I was really shocked – it was unbelievable. Proper borderline-professional from the off. And the bakers all bonded really quickly as well. Straight out of the traps, there were a number of bakers that made me think ‘Wow, we’re in for a good year.’ And it is a really good year.

The new series also sees two new ‘themes’ with Meringue week and Back To School with lots of cake and custard presumably on the cards. But for all the themes and new challenges it is very much a show about the bakers themselves too.

Host Alison said: “People fall in love with the bakers. That’s the crux of it. It’s all about the bakers. We could be replaced at any moment, but the bakers are what’s driving the show.”

Paul added: “What changes is the bakers every year, but the bakers are the people who bring the character to the show and they have done. They are amazing bakers and really nice people.

“The standard of baking overall since series one has got better and better. That’s not to take anything away from the bakers in series one, they were of their time, but the baking has improved. The challenges are a little more tricky. But they’ve all risen to the challenge and created things that have been really incredible.”

This Morning star Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were seen giggling over their old school photos ahead of their return to the ITV programme. Hosts Ben and Cat laughed about their school days with Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond in a new promo for the daytime show.

The main hosts for the show will return to our screens on September 1 while Alison and Dermot will be back hosting on Fridays from September 5. In the promo, Alison told Cat that she “hasn’t changed” while she added about Dermot’s sweet snap: “Ain’t he lovely?” Their childhood photos are lined up under their initials – A, B, C and D.

Ben and Cat have been on a summer break while Emma Willis, Andi Peters, Sian Welby and Rochelle Humes have been guest-hosting for the stars.

Along with the return of the regular hosts, Strictly judge Shirley Ballas, West End star Jodie Prenger and TV vet Dr Scott Miller will be judging the Pup Idol segment as they’re given the difficult task of picking a pet dog to win a role on Coronation Street.

Meanwhile, Dr Zoe Williams will help viewers reduce their biological age in a new series called Hack Your Age. On Monday morning, Rylan Clark welcomed back Josie Gibson to the show after she took some time away to film her solo series.

Explaining her absence from the show, Josie replied: “I have been really busy. I have been going all around the South West; it has been brilliant.

“But do you know the last time I saw you? You were picking up a little BAFTA.”

“Oh, yes, it was,” Rylan laughed as he recalled, “I think we’d both had a little beverage that night, and I just remember strolling out and I said, ‘Jose, I’ve got to go bed’.”

“You sneaked out,” Josie chimed in as Rylan continued: “I did a sly exit.”

“Is that your first BAFTA?” Josie asked before adding, “I am so proud of you.” Cat’s return to This Morning comes after her shock split from husband Patrick Kielty.

This Morning host Cat and Irish comedian, 54, and who share sons Milo, seven, and James, five, revealed last month that they had taken the decision to end their 13 year marriage, stressing that ‘no other party’ was involved.

The former couple shared a joint statement on July 29 that read: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.”

Alison Hammond responds to cruel trolls who want her axed from ITV show

This Morning star Alison Hammond has issued a brutal response to cruel trolls who have called for her to be axed from an ITV show.

Alison Hammond has delivered a blunt three-word message to critics calling for her axe from an ITV programme – “deal with it”.

The host has responded to demands from online trolls over her position on For The Love Of Dogs.

The 50-year-old broadcaster took over hosting the ITV programme after Paul O’Grady’s death in 2023 and two years on she continues to face scrutiny.

Yet, the This Morning favourite has served up a brutal comeback. Chatting to The Guardian, Alison declared: “People say Pete Wicks would be better than me at presenting For the Love of Dogs.

“He might be, but I’m doing it. Deal with it! I know my worth. Besides, my mum would have been so proud. That’s why I do this. She’s my guiding light.”

Additionally, Alison referenced a TikTok clip showing a woman slamming her involvement in Celebrity Gogglebox,” reports Birmingham Live.

Alison revealed she is “good at saying no” and will reject opportunities if they don’t fit her schedule or when she requires downtime.

She went on: “It may seem like I’m on TV a lot, but I stand out partly because it’s still not common to see a Black woman doing this.

“I don’t want to bring race into it but nobody says that about Davina or Ant and Dec. I’ve worked hard for 22 years to get here.”

Alison emphasised she is merely “doing a job that I adore to the best of my ability, trying to be better than I was yesterday”.

Previously this year, Alison was stunned when a vicious online bully branded her “repulsive”. She shared a light-hearted video of herself driving a tractor in a cornfield on social media, with the caption: “Rolling into my holidays.”

However, a comment from a 77-year-old man named Peter left her almost speechless. Peter’s comment read: “People say Pete Wicks would be better than me at presenting For the Love of Dogs.

“Any time we see you are on TV we switch channels as you turn our stomachs being so fat and repulsive with a huge mouth.”

Clearly distressed, Alison retweeted his comment with a single word – “Wow”.

One fan, rallying behind the presenter, commented: “Alison you know how special and fantastic you are.”

ITV Midsomer Murders fans say the same thing as Inspector Morse star makes appearance

Midsomer Murders fans were left distracted as they noticed a familiar face from the Inspector Morse series

Midsomer Murders viewers found themselves thoroughly distracted on Tuesday evening after Kevin Whately popped up in a repeat episode of the ITV series.

The star, renowned for portraying Lewis in both Inspector Morse and the ITV spin-off Lewis, stepped into the shoes of murder suspect Jeremy in the John Barnaby drama.

Within moments of the episode beginning, fans flocked to Twitter to express their excitement over the Inspector Morse crossover.

@NickStevenson63 wrote: “So… when worlds collide; Inspector Lewis in Midsomer Murders. It was bound to happen sooner or later given the number of strange and bizarre deaths in this otherwise quiet corner of Oxfordshire.”

@Suzy_H14 begged: “They can’t kill #Lewis #MidsomerMurders,” reports the Express.

@ghostheart__ observed: “Lots of Morse/Lewis links in this episode of #MidsomerMurders – firstly Kevin Whately who was obviously Lewis in Morse/Lewis, Jane Bertish who was in Morse episode The Wolvercote Tongue and Alexander Hanson who was in Lewis episode Generation of Vipers.”

@dennison_shelly continued: “Fabulous collection of musical theatre actors in tonight’s #MidsomerMurders and the universe-bending inclusion of Lewis aka Kevin Whately. Excellent fun.

“Lewis better not get killed off in tonight’s #MidsomerMurders that’d just be too weird,” @neiltheshaker posted.

@samjcstuff revealed: “My brain is not computing Lewis appearing in #midsomermurders.”

Kevin portrayed Robert “Robbie” Lewis in Inspector Morse from 1987 to 2000, and in Lewis from 2006 to 2015.

In a 2023 interview, Midsomer Murders’ lead actors Neil Dudgeon and Fiona Dolman graced the This Morning sofa to discuss the show’s milestone 50th episode.

The on-screen couple shared a light-hearted conversation with hosts Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle about the enduring appeal of the series.

“So what’s the secret to your on-screen success?” Alison inquired, prompting Neil to quip: “Sexual chemistry.”

He elaborated: “I think we’ve just got on very well right from the start, didn’t we?”.

“We did,” Fiona concurred. “Neil was already cast, so I had an audition, and I had to go in and read with him.

“And yeah, I think we clicked right from the beginning.”

Reflecting on their long-running partnership, Fiona added: “We’ve done it for 12 years now which means all that kind of fear that you have as an actor when you join something and you have to pretend you have an intimate relationship with someone that you’ve never met, that’s all just gone now, hasn’t it?”.

“It is great, I always said we should have had Fiona in the show anyway,” Neil, who plays John Barnaby, interjected.

This Morning’s Alison Hammond says ‘I’m so sorry’ as guest holds back tears

This Morning’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were on hand to deliver the latest headlines to ITV viewers on Tuesday’s show.

Emotions were at an all-time high during Tuesday’s instalment of This Morning.

During the ITV show, viewers saw Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary speak to one dad whose son has suffered severe burns.

At the time, nine-year-old William Tyler ran across boiling hot sand, which had still been scorching from a disposable barbecue.

As a result, William needed multiple surgeries on his burns. During the show, his father, Toby, was overcome with emotion as he recalled hearing his son in pain.

Alison said, “So, you’re having a lovely time. You’re there with your wife Claire, your daughter Lily, and William, having a lovely time on the beach. Then the two kids go off, have a little run, and the next thing you hear is your son William, screaming.”

He said: “Yeah, that was a-“, Toby started to choke up with emotion as he recalled the horrific moment.

Realising his struggle, Alison commented: “Oh, I’m so sorry.”

Toby added: “It was a really hard point because it was so out of the blue, and it’s something that doesn’t go away. They were literally just playing, and his feet sank into sand where the barbeque had been several hours before.

“We were clueless about what had happened. We thought’ he’d trodden on something sharp, so it took a minute to work out what had happened.”

Alison told viewers the sand was still extremely hot, despite it being hours after the barbecue had been moved.

He added: “As soon as he comes out, you could see his foot basically stripped of the skin. I think that was the difficult thing. It looked extraordinary.

“We couldn’t work out what he’d done, we thought something had pierced it to take the skin off, there was no blood. Literally, the skin had died across his foot straight away.”

With their car far away, Toby had to carry his son on his shoulders as he recalled William being in ‘extraordinary pain’.

Praising his son, Toby added: “He was incredible really, just managing to sustain things whilst we got him to hospital.”

After William was given some pain relief, he had to be transferred to another hospital to a burns unit, where he spent nine days.

In the end, the child needed skin grafts to replace the skin on his feet.

BBC bosses are bringing back the game show Hole In The Wall

BBC game show Hole In The Wall will be returning for a new series fronted by Alison Hammond. The Beeb has given it the green light after a successful pilot, we can reveal. Previously hosted by Dale Winton, with Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke later taking over, Alison has been drafted in to present the reboot. It originally aired from 2008 to 2009 and featured celebrities trying to fit through moving wall cut-outs to avoid being pushed into a pool of water. This Morning and Great British Bake Off star Alison, 50, impressed in the pilot. A source said: “Alison made a splash in the pilot so it was a no-brainer for bosses. “It’s the perfect fit for her. It’s fun, exciting and doesn’t take itself too seriously – just like Alison.”

It will be filmed later this year and air in 2026. Hole In The Wall is based on a Japanese format and sees shiny lycra-clad celebrities try to squeeze through odd-shaped holes in a moving wall. The wall is activated by the presenter shouting: “Bring on the wall!” Each week, two teams of television personalities competed for £10,000 in prize money to be donated to their chosen charity. It’s the latest telly job for in demand star Alison. She became the new face of For the Love of Dogs following the death of Paul O’Grady and currently presents ITV ’s This Morning on a Friday with co-host Dermot O’Leary. She is also a team captain on Rob Beckett’s Smart TV for Sky. Alison is fast becoming the BBC’s golden girl with a number of shows on the channel. Earlier this year her new travel series: Florida Unpacked, went out on BBC Two. It saw her travel the US state with son Aidan, 20. She also fronted her own celebrity interview show, Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, which saw her get under the skin of well known names like Lenny Henry, Little Mix ’s Perrie Edwards and Spice Girl Mel B.

This comes after Alison and her son Aidan made their debut on Celebrity Gogglebox last week, a few months after he revealed some heartbreaking details about his childhood. The 20-year-old DJ recalled he used to run away from home and seek solace at his nan’s house when things at home with his mum Alison, 50, got too much.

Alison and her ex-partner – Noureddine Boufaied, a taxi driver from Manchester – separated in 2014, when Aidan was nine, and the youngster spent most of his time living with his telly star mum in Birmingham. The mother-and-son duo now enjoy a close bond – and have worked together on BBC travelogue Alison Hammond ’s Florida Unpacked and now Channel 4 ’s Celebrity Gogglebox.

Earlier this year, Aidan revealed how much he and his mum benefited from having his maternal grandma, Maria, living close by, especially when things were difficult at home.

“She had a house pretty much opposite us, so we could literally leave and run across the road,” he said. “So when my mum was doing my head in, I’d just go to my nan’s.”

A few weeks after her death, Alison wrote a moving tribute on her Instagram page, which said, “Thank you, Mummy, for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that you’re OK and with God in Heaven now. I will always remember you and try and make you proud. I love you, Mum.”

Aidan described himself, his mum and his nan as “a little trio”, and said they “were very close all the time”. While Alison is now loved-up with Russian massage therapist David Putman, some 20 years her junior, she has previously admitted she felt like she had “failed” when she broke up with Aidan’s father.

Alison Hammond is best known for her bubbly personality while presenting This Morning along with Dermot O’Leary. However, according to her son and Celebrity Gogglebox co-star Aidan, the TV presenter wasn’t always a delight to live with.

Alison, 50, who soared to fame following her memorable stint on Big Brother back in 2002, made her Celebrity Gogglebox debut last night, critiquing TV shows with her rarely seen sister Saundra and her 20 year old son. Giving fans a more intimate account of his mother while growing up, Aidan revealed that he used to run away from home and stay with his grandmother, who lived across the road.

And this would happen on a regular basis every time he and Alison failed to agree on certain things. Speaking on the Spin Justice podcast, Aidan said: “When we were in the flat, she (his grandmother) had a house pretty much opposite us, so we could literally leave and run across the road.”

He added: “So when my mum was doing my head in, I’d just go to my nan’s.”

Before Alison’s mother Maria sadly passed away five years ago, the trio enjoyed an incredibly special bond. Aidan described their relationship as “very, very close”.

Despite his youthful age, Aidan is no stranger to the world of TV after appearing on a number of quiz shows with his mum and starring in their very own travel show, Florida Unpacked which aired on BBC Two.

He then went on to say: “She’s passed away now, but we were very close all the time – me, my mum and my nan – and that was kind of the little trio.”

Alison will sit along side her sister and son for their debut on the popular TV show, mugs in hand ready to analyse TV shows watched by the nation.

Speaking about sharing the moment with another family member apart from her son, Alison chimed in: “I’m so excited to be doing Celebrity Gogglebox with my son Aidan.”

She said: “We’ve always loved watching telly together, and now we get to do it on the sofa for the nation! It’s a real family affair too, because my fabulous sister Saundra is getting involved as well. “

The Great British Bake Off presenter then went on to say: “Expect laughs, eye-rolls, and lots of commentary, classic Hammond style!”

Alison and her family with join the cast of the new series for the charity Stand Up To Cancer.

A TV source reportedly told The Sun: “Producers were impressed by the dynamic between Aidan and his mum on their new travel show, so wanted a piece of it for Celebrity Gogglebox.”

They added: “They’re always looking for new duos to appear on the programme to keep it constantly feeling fresh, and, of course, fronting the Great British Bake Off means she’s already part of the C4 family.”

ITV This Morning viewers slam Alison Hammond over ‘crass’ comment to JoJo Siwa

This Morning fans were left unimpressed with presenter Alison Hammond after a comment she made to JoJo Siwa on the ITV show.

Alison Hammond faced backlash from This Morning viewers following a comment she made to JoJo Siwa during Monday’s show.

The episode saw Alison co-hosting with Paddy McGuiness as they cut to Chris Hughes, who was reporting live from Bexhill.

Chris was there to speak with 90-year-old Barby Keel, the owner of an animal sanctuary.

The conversation took a turn when Chris’s Celebrity Big Brother co-star JoJo Siwa, who had just appeared on Lorraine’s ITV show, was brought into the discussion.

Alison exclaimed: “Listen, Chris, before you go, we’ve got someone who wanted to say a quick hello to you! Have a look at this.”

JoJo then popped up on screen, saying: “Hey Christopher!” As Chris and JoJo chatted, Chris mentioned that she would be visiting the Cotswolds with him the following week to meet his family, while also helping Barby with some tasks.

Paddy jumped in, playfully teasing Chris about his remark that JoJo gives him energy in the mornings, reports Wales Online.

Paddy joked: “Can I just ask, how do you know JoJo gives you energy in the Morning? What’s going on here? Hello! Hashtag awkward.”

Alison erupted into laughter at Paddy’s lighthearted jab at Chris before turning her attention to JoJo and saying: “Honestly, I’m so invested in you and Chris.”

Alison posed the question everyone was eager to have answered, she remarked: “I don’t care what anyone says, I want to know. I’m so invested! I love this little relationship; it’s beautiful, but just for the record, what is your relationship status with Chris right now?”

JoJo hesitated slightly before replying: “Erm, I will say he is up there as one of my favourite people in the entire world-” However, her response was swiftly intercepted by Alison, who cheekily added: “With benefits.”

The candid remark sparked a strong reaction among viewers, with many expressing discomfort at Alison’s forthrightness.

One viewer pleaded: “Please stop this JoJo and Chris segment on #ThisMorning.” Others echoed the sentiment, with one commenting: “I love a laugh n all that, but that was a crass comment by Alison re JoJo and Chris’ relationship.”

Another chimed in, saying: “Leave Jojo alone. Alison that was uncalled for.” The discussion clearly didn’t resonate with all viewers, as one wrote: “I find this whole thing with JoJo and Chris nauseating. @ITV and @thismorning just need to drop it. It’s not cute it’s embarrassing. #thismorning.”

Another viewer described the start of the show as “Messy and awkward start #ThisMorning.”

JoJo chose not to address Alison’s comment, instead focusing on the positive impact Chris had on her life, revealing he made her happier than she’d ever been.
