Trump called the shooting of two National Guard members a “terrorist attack” and said the gunman was an “animal” who should face the “steepest possible price.” He immediately linked the tragedy to immigration, announcing that his administration would permanently pause migration from all “Third World Countries” and halt all asylum decisions until every applicant can be vetted to the “maximum degree possible.”
He also ordered a sweeping review of all asylum cases approved under the Biden administration, paused Afghan visa processing, and signaled that green cards for citizens of the 19 travel‑ban countries—including Afghanistan—would be re‑examined.
In a Thanksgiving call with service members, Trump warned that the suspect’s family would be “looked at,” and he threatened to denaturalize migrants who “undermine domestic tranquility” and to strip federal benefits from non‑citizens.
Critics argue the administration is using a single incident to justify broad, potentially unlawful immigration restrictions, while supporters say the moves are necessary to protect national security.
So, Trump’s reaction combined condemnation of the violence, a hardline immigration narrative, and a series of policy actions aimed at tightening vetting and limiting migration from the countries he cited.
First of all, everyone should condemn terrorism in any form. Irrespective of race, religion, color, ethnicity, or social status, all sorts of terrorists must be punished without any discrimination. It is strongly supported by Trump’s view of calling terrorists animals. Anyone who kills any other person is not a human being. All types of terrorism are strongly opposed.
We pray for the victims and stand with the families of victims. We share their grief and stand with them at this critical moment. It is urged that the government must extend all possible support to the families of victims.
It is also urged that the criminals must be punished severely. A criminal, irrespective of his or her nationality, race, religion, or ethnicity, must be punished according to the relevant laws strictly.
However, generalizing a single incident to punish a certain group, nationality, race, religion, or ethnicity is not justified. Based on this particular incident, punishing 19 nations, or the entire third world, or all developing countries, or even all Afghans is not justified.
It is believed that the US has the capabilities to identify the criminals, arrest them, and punish them severely according to prevailing laws. American law enforcement and security institutions are competent and well trained to handle any mishap or unwanted situation. We respect the law, stand with the law, and urge strict actions against the convicted criminals.
But those who are working hard and contributing to the socio-economy of America must be respected and protected, irrespective of their origin, ethnicity, race, religion, color, or social status. Honest, innocent, and sincere people working in America must be respected and safeguarded.
As a matter of fact, President Trump, during his election campaign, has pointed out anti-immigrant sentiments and promised his voters to make America great and deport immigrants. After taking oath as President of America in January 2025, he has expressed his anti-immigrant sentiments on several occasions. He has introduced some declared or undeclared measures to curb immigrants.
Traditionally America was a land of immigrants. Who are the best doctors, who are the best scientists, who are the best businessmen, and who are the best professionals in America? The majority are the immigrants. Whether they are new immigrants or old immigrants, they are contributing toward the social and economic development of America.
If you trace each individual’s roots, you might conclude most Americans are immigrants. Whether coming from Latin America, Africa, Asia, or other places, Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc., all immigrants are struggling for the bright future of America.
America has occupied Afghanistan for almost two decades. Just after 9/11 in 2001, America invaded Afghanistan and ruled this country through puppets like Hamid Karzai and Ashraf Ghani till 2021. During this period, a lot of Afghans were working for Americans and were loyal to Americans. They were promised to be rewarded and shifted to America after the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan in 2021.
President Joe Biden fulfilled his promise with loyal Afghans, and part of them were shifted to America, and also a part of them were settled in the EU gradually. However, since the president took charge as president, this process has been halted or slowed down.
It seems President Trump may use this incident and fulfill his promise with American voters. His anti-immigrant agenda may be fulfilled.
