Who is Eric Knowles?

Eric Knowles was born 19 February 1953 in Nelson, Lancashire and is a British antiquarian and television personality.

His main interests are thought to be in ceramics and glass.

Knowles career began in 1976 when he joined the London auction house Bonhams as a porter in the ceramics department and became head of the department in 1981.

He went on to work at Dreweatts and joined The Hoard as executive chairman and has now opened a gallery, The Pantiles Arcade.

Eric first found fame on TV as a ceramics expert on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.

He has also appeared in such programmes as, Going for a Song, Going, Going, Gone, Noel’s House Party, Call My Bluff and 20th Century Roadshow.

Knowles is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Ambassador for the Prince’s Trust.

He is also associated with several other charities including Headway, FABLE (For a better life with epilepsy), the New Mozart Orchestra and Wycombe Scanappeal.

Eric is married to Anita Knowles and the pair have been together for many years.

She works as the company secretary for their business, Eric Knowles Antiquarian Services Limited.

Does Eric Knowles have any children?

Yes, Eric and Anita do have children together.

They have two sons Sebastian and Oliver, however Sebastian passed away when he was 26.

He died after his car collided with a lorry on the M40 in Buckinghamshire in 2015.

Before his death, Sebastian worked as a successful DJ.

During his career he supported the Wycombe Wanderers, and played gigs around London under the name DJ Sparky B.

He worked with popular names such as Ultrabeat and The Artful Dodger as well as having a weekly radio slot on Time FM before he moved in 2013 to Wycombe Sound.
