ONE of Britain’s most dangerous prisoners has admitted trying to kill a jail guard with a shank.

Matthew Tinling, 35 — dubbed the Saw Killer — is already serving two life sentences after his gruesome murder of an ex-soldier, and a knife attack on another lag.

He now faces an even longer stint inside after brutally stabbing a prison officer at HMP Woodhill near Milton Keynes, Bucks, in February 2021.

Tinling was being escorted back to his cell after a workout when he attacked Samuel Morris.

He admitted attempted murder and will be sentenced later.

Tinling is housed in a special wing at Woodhill for extremely dangerous prisoners.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “We do not tolerate attacks against our hardworking staff and always push for the strongest possible punishment for those involved.”
