Although all of us want our spaces to look good, most of us don’t have the time to do a full on deep clean.
Organization expert and DIY pro Caroline Solomon (@neat.caroline) shared her method for “faking” a clean home in a TikTok.
It’s a great hack for when you’re on a time crunch.
THE LIVING ROOM
The living room is the first thing that you and your guests see when walking inside, so it’s important that it feels inviting.
A messy couch is never a good look.
“Fluff your pillows,” Caroline advised, while karate chopping them into shape.
As for the coffee table, remove the smudges and fingerprints from its surface with all-purpose cleaner.
“Straighten out your coffee table books,” she added.
THE KITCHEN
Next, Caroline moved on to the most used—and often the dirtiest—room in the house: the kitchen.
To change the greasy appearance of your oven door, spray equal parts water and vinegar onto the surface and rub with a microfiber cleaning cloth.
She said it’s a “bonus” if you also swap out your dish towels so that crisp, clean ones hang from the rack.
BATHROOMS
She then tackled the room that most people dread cleaning: the bathroom.
“Wipe down mirrors with vinegar and water,” she said.
Be sure to also straighten out your towels so that they don’t look so messy.
BEDROOM
And finally, Caroline finished off with the bedroom.
First things first, no room will look tidy with an unkept bed—so try to make that up as soon as you can.
And all those clothes lying on the floor? It’s time to just toss them in the hamper. Out of sight, out of mind.
