The useful tip left viewers stunned and amazed after it was posted on social media.
A video shared on Instagram by a user going by the name flavorful_minded, revealed the crazy advice in a demonstration of how it works.
All you have to do is cut a potato in half and rub its now-exposed flesh on your mirror.
Wipe any residual liquid with a cloth and then your mirror will be safely protected from annoying droplets.
This is because potato starch does not easily dissolve in water and so it forms a semi-waterproof layer over the glass, preventing water from clinging to it.
The video was posted with the simple caption: “Life hack.”
While in the demonstration it was used to prevent splashes of water collecting on the mirror, it can also help to stop the glass from fogging up with condensation when you take a hot shower.
Commenters were left inspired by the post and could not believe what they were seeing.
One wrote: “Is this real? I’m gonna try.”
Another chimed in: “I wonder if this would work on my car windshield.”
A third said simply: “Will try!”
However, one viewer was a little confused about what they were watching as they wrote: “Lemon or potato?
“Looks like a lemon until she cuts into it. Then it looks like a potato.”
