Occasional Digest - a story for you

Brentford 0-0 Chelsea

52. Jackson has come on for The Blues.

In the five minutes he has been on, he has done more than Nkunku in the entire match.

Chelsea are looking to get forward more now.

The Saints are marching down to the Championship.

Half-time here and they are 2-0 already, an interminably-long VAR check away from 3-0, and looking like they have no way back.

They will be the fastest team ever to be relegated in Premier League history.

Ange Postecoglou meanwhile has provided some entertainment on the touchline by flicking an imaginary coin during the five-minute VAR check that ruled out Lucas Bergvall’s goal at 1-0.

It was as if to say, if VAR rules this out or not, it is down to pot luck.

HT: Tottenham 2-0 Southampton

Spurs have dominated this game.

The Saints are looking out of their depth as ever this afternoon.

This could be a confidence-boosting win for Postecoglou’s side.

HT: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea

It is an even game at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford have really come into the game since the early Chelsea chance.

This game needs a goal to spark it into life.

HT: Fulham 3-1 Liverpool

This has been truly dreadful from Arne Slot’s side.

After taking the lead, their defence has completely imploded.

It looks a long way back for the visitors.

IT has been a subdued atmosphere here at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There was the potential for toxicity given the protest against the owners and the week – and season, really – Ange Postecoglou has had.

But Brennan Johnson’s tenth Premier League goal of the campaign means there is no reason to be up in arms, right now at least.

If anything, it’s the Saints fans who making the most noise, every so often piping up with self-deprecating chants of “Championship again, ole ole”.

Their side will be the fastest ever to be relegated if they do not win today, with seven games left to play.

It would already be all over were it not for two top saves from ex-Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale, the latest one with his face.
