One person was trapped under the car and is now being treated for life-threatening injuries, the cops added.

It is still unknown if the incident was an accident or an attack.

Berlin Fire Department’s control center said that they triggered the “mass casualty incident” alarm to get sufficient resources at the scene.

A rescue helicopter was deployed at the scene, along with 60 firefighters and 22 large vehicles.

It is understood that authorities are at the scene, and an investigation is now underway.

This is the third public car crash incident in Germany in just a span of a few weeks.

Germany has been reeling after a spate of reported terror attacks with seven in the last 10 months.

Just two weeks ago, a black car sped through the busy German city of Mannheim before smashing into unsuspecting locals – leaving two dead and 14 injured.

In February, a mum and her child died after a suspected Islamist terrorist rammed his Mini Cooper into a crowd in Munich.

The woman, 37, and her two-year-old daughter were among 39 injured in the “shocking attack” said to be carried out by a rejected Afghan asylum seeker.

The Mini Cooper is said to have “sped up” and ploughed into the back of around 1,500 Verdi demonstrators – a Berlin-based German trade union – on Seidlstrasse in Munich

The suspect was a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who is understood to have been known to police in relation to drug and theft incidents.

News website Spiegel says the suspect is a Kabul-born man named Farhad Noori.

He is said to have posted Islamist content on social media before the heinous incident.

The suspected attack is thought not to be connected with the Munich Security Conference.

Farhad Noori arrived in Germany as an asylum seeker in December 2016 and had his asylum application rejected.

Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses in the horror incident claim there were two men involved in the crowd plough, with one of them shot by police and carried away, according to BR24.

In December, 2024, six people were killed and over 200 injured when a car rammed into a crowded Christmas market in Magdeburg sparking far-right protests.

The suspect, named by local media as Taleb A, was travelling at up to 40mph when he first smashed into those at the festive celebrations, horrified witnesses said.

He reportedly raced through the packed market for at least 400m (1,300ft) – leaving trails of devastation in his path.

Footage later captured the driver of a black BMW being arrested at the scene.
