MCDONALD’S is set to remove a rare menu item in just a few days, with an exciting new addition scheduled to debut next month.

The Grimace Shake, a standout feature of McDonald’s Christmas 2024 menu, is set to disappear from restaurants in just a few days.

Inspired by the McDonald’s Grimace mascot, which was first introduced in the 1970s, the shake debuted in the US during the summer of 2023.

The character was originally an evil character who stole milkshakes from customers but was later rebranded as a more friendly face of the fast-food chain.

The flavour originally debuted on UK menus in 2023 and made a return for Christmas 2024.

However, it will once again be removed from menus on February 12.

It’s made with blueberry syrup and a creamy milkshake base which creates the iconic purple tinge.

For now, McDonald’s fans can still enjoy the shake, priced at £2.69 for a medium and £2.99 for a large, before it vanishes from menus on Wednesday.

McDonald’s already has three core milkshake flavours, Strawberry, Banana and Chocolate, which will continue to be available.

However, fans won’t have to wait long before a new shake hits menus.

The fast food chain is launching the Shamrock Shake in restaurants for the first time from next month.

Foodies will only be able to pick up the Irish-themed drink from March 12 until March 25.

It comes after rumours started swirling online the iconic shake was set to land on UK shores for the first time.

OTHER MCDONALD’S MENU CHANGES

McDonald’s is shaking up its menu later this week, with four fresh items making their way to restaurants.

From February 12, the fast food chain is bringing back the Philly Cheese Stack, Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie and Mars McFlurry.

Tropicana apple juice will be on menus for the first time and staying as a permanent item too.

The Philly Cheese Stack will be on sale until May 6, combining two beef patties with cheese sauce, cheese slices, grilled and crispy onions and pickles served in a toasted bun, from £5.29.

The burger was last on sale in October before being dropped from menus.

The Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie, which first launched early last year, is also on menus until May 6, for £1.99.

The crispy pink pastry is filled with a smooth white chocolate ganache and raspberry compote.

Senior consumer reporter Ellie Smitherman got to try the sweet treat when it first launched and was a big fan.

Also hitting menus this month is the Mars McFlurry, consisting of soft dairy ice cream swirled with crunchy chocolate-covered nougat pieces and topped with caramel sauce, from £1.69.

The pudding will be available until March 25.

Customers can also still get their hands on the Katsu chicken wrap and McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse until May 6 and the Mozzarella Dippers until March 25.

How to save money at McDonald’s

You could end up being charged more for a McDonald’s meal based solely on the McDonald’s restaurant you choose.

Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.

You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald’s receipts.

The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.

You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.

There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app, so it’s worth signing up to get money off your meals.

The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.

You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a My McDonald’s app user.
