HYUNDAI is set to release a rugged-looking electric vehicle with a chunky appearance at a very reasonable price this spring.
The new Inster Cross will be arriving at a UK showroom near you in the coming months, ready to compete with the likes of the Fiat Grande Panda.
The smart-looking EV comes with an adventure-ready roof rack and a set of stylish 17-inch alloy wheels.
Its interior is finished in green with lime accents, and there is an option of Amazonas Green matt paint.
There is also plenty of room for four, with each seat capable of being folded completely flat.
The rear two seats can slide and recline independently to enhance legroom or boot space as needed.
On the dashboard, it features a 10.25-inch digital display as well as Hyundai’s full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including a 360-degree parking camera and blindspot cameras.
Mechanically, the Cross iteration will have a range of up to 223 miles, the same as the regular Inster, along with a 0-62mph time of 10.6 seconds.
A heat pump will be fitted as standard to boost efficiency, while the battery can be charged at rates of up to 85kW, meaning it can be charged from 10-80% in around 30 minutes.
The Inster Cross will cost just £2,000 more than the regular £26,745-rated Inster and is expected to arrive in UK dealerships by May.
Unfortunately, despite its rugged appearance, it is not four-wheel-drive – but the South Korean brand has customers covered if they’re looking for something with a bit of grunt.
We revealed in November that the brand has seemingly set its sights firmly on Range Rover as they prepare to release an ultra-luxurious SUV.
The upcoming Ioniq 9 will be their largest electric car yet and is set to take on a host of premium brands.
Their ever-expanding Ioniq range of EVs, which includes the Ioniq 5 crossover and Ioniq 6 saloon, will now cater to the plush SUV market with the imminent Ioniq 9.
High-class across the board with a price tag to match, early suggestions claim drivers will have to fork out up to £80,000 for the very top-of-the-range version.
First unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show last week, the futuristic-looking EV has been referred to by Hyundai as an “aerosthetic lounge”, with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency and interior refinement with a spacious cabin.
It will feature three rows of seats with enough seating for up to seven passengers, as well as a tapered cabin, a heavily raked roof, and a bluff rear end.
Hyundai were also winners of the UK Car of the Year – as experts from Carwow, led by chief content officer Mat Watson, gave out the firm’s coveted awards for the 2025 model year today, with SunMotors getting an exclusive peek at the results.
After assessing hundreds of motors from all major brands, the judges crowned the Hyundai Santa Fe as the nation’s best car.
Rolling off production lines since 2000, the Sante Fe took home the award for the first time thanks to its reputation for practicality and reliability.
It was also, no doubt, helped by the emerging trend for mid-sized crossover SUVs that has gripped Europe.
