Nov. 7 (UPI) — President Joe Biden still has no intention to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who is to be sentenced next month, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday.

Hunter Biden, 54, was convicted on felony firearm charges in June and pleaded guilty to tax-related charges in September.

He is set to be sentenced to both cases next month, when he faces up to 25 years in prison for the firearm-related conviction, though his sentence is expected to by a fraction of that. He also faces up to 17 years in prison in the tax case.

The president has previously said he would not pardon his son.

On Thursday, in the wake of Vice President Kamala Harris‘ loss to Donald Trump earlier this week in the general election, Jean-Pierre responded to reporters’ questions asking if the president now intends to pardon his son before the end of his White House tenure.

“We’ve been asked that question multiple times. Our answer stands, which is no,” she said during the press conference.

Trump has also threatened to prosecute numerous political opponents, including the sitting president and his family, among others, if he were to regain the White House.

Reporters asked Jean-Pierre if Biden had intentions to pardon anyone on the president-elect’s grievance list.

She replied that she understands pardons will be a focus of questions coming from the White House press pool in the weeks and months ahead, but at this time she has no information on the topic to share.

“Once we have something to share, we certainly will share that,” she said.

Hunter Biden is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 12 on the firearm conviction and Dec. 16 for the tax offense-related case.
