GRIEVING BBC racing commentator John Hunt said the supportive messages he received after his wife and daughters were murdered by a crossbow lunatic were “like a hug”.

Carol Hunt, 61, Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28, were shot dead in a triple murder at their Hertfordshire, Bushey home earlier this month.

Matt Chapman, an ITV commentator in regular contact with Hunt, said the BBC star told him he was “very thankful that people are thinking about them and they are very conscious that they want everyone to know they will be OK”.

He added that Hunt said: “Every message that’s been sent, every one of those messages feels like a hug.”

More than £100,000 has been raised from a fundraiser, with the money going to support Hunt’s surviving daughter, Amy.

Chapman said: “As far as what’s happened, it’s still beyond belief that this could happen to anyone, a family in the world.

“The message from all of us is when you need us, we are here.”

Kyle Clifford, 26, from Enfield, north London, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the three women.

We revealed yesterday that he was paralysed after shooting himself with a crossbow bolt.

He remains in hospital.
