The Autotrader posted his video on YouTube to run fans through the specs – explaining how much a motor like this is actually worth.
Although he found the gem for just £1,500, he added that with £500 spent on it, he hopes that he could get at least £3,000 for the BMW.
Excitedly, the car guru said: “The car should be worth £3,000 all day long, they’re quite desirable.”
The 2003 motor comes fitted with a powerful 3 litre engine, 6 speed manual, coming in with 184 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds.
But it’s not just a fast car, the Z4 delivers everything a roadster needs.
It’s a two-seater with a long hood, short front, soft top, and a modern, athletic design.
It’s the kind of car that makes any motorist drool.
The very desirable BMW often fetches around £27,000 when unused, and this car isn’t that far off it.
The rare find has just 95,000 miles on the clock, which is practically nothing for a car that is two decades old.
As the autotrader set to work on the car, he added: “The engine is a gem.”
He did find a few problems with it however – like old tyres, a strange oil smell, and a continuous warning display.
Although, he revealed that the roof worked perfectly – which is often one of the biggest problems with refurbishing a Z4.
He explained that sometimes, if the car isn’t well looked after and it gets too wet, the hood can get stuck and then you’re left with a convertible car that can no longer convert.
After changing the tyres, sorting out a burning oil smell, adding a new ABS sensor, and giving the car a good clean, the motor expert said he sold the car to a friend.
Despite initially thinking he could make £3,000 off the car “easy”, he sold it to his pal for just £1,950.
He said: “I was speaking to a mate who was after something like this so I mentioned this could be sold for around £2,000.
“We agreed on £1,950.”
He added: “So yeah that’s all I got anyway, £1,950, so I’ve made a profit of £353.
“It’s okay, I can’t retire can I? But I’m quite happy with that.
“I think I’ve done quite well to get £353 profit from it without massively overspending.”
It comes as a BMW M1 sold at auction for an eye-watering six figure price.
The iconic car was one of just 453 ever made.
This speedster sold for £255,000 – boasting just 13,000 miles on the clock and comes in a striking finish of red, purple and blue.
According to a feature from Robb Report, this rare set of wheels “has been kept in tip-top shape since leaving the factory more than four decades ago” and that potential buyers will be “hard-pressed to find an M1 that looks as good as the example currently up for bid.”
While a BMW Z8 sold for £193,945 with just 30,554 miles on the clock in the summer last year.
That drop-top Beamer is powered by a whopping 4.9-litre V8 petrol engine, producing around 395bhp.
The BMW Z8 shot to stardom after featuring in the 1999 James Bond film movie The World is Not Enough, with Pierce Brosnan behind the wheel.
