Insiders have revealed the Master Blaster singer’s team are trying to finalise his slot, where he would join Dua Lipa and Coldplay, fronted by Chris Martin on the bill for the annual four-day event.
It has been 14 years since Stevie was last on the Pyramid stage at Worthy Farm.
A source said: “Stevie’s team have been working on a big tour and Glastonbury is something they want to make happen.
“He last performed there in 2010, when it was Glastonbury’s 40th birthday, and the American soul legend’s set went down a storm. To have him back on the farm is something organisers Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily are keen to make happen and they’ll move heaven and earth to get Stevie on the line-up.
“Stevie’s team are working on his dates now and hopefully things will be firmed up in the coming days.”
When Stevie last took to the Pyramid stage, he led a huge singalong to his 1981 hit Happy Birthday.
The music icon also played some of his biggest numbers, including Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours), Superstition and I Just Called To Say I Love You.
I revealed last month how Bruce Springsteen’s team were also trying to work around the dates for the event, which runs from June 26-30, but they failed to make it happen.
Shania Twain is going to be playing the coveted Legends slot at the festival too, which will round off the Sunday nicely, especially if Stevie’s people can pull it out of the bag for him.
Organiser Emily told in October how they were holding out on booking acts to try to secure a mammoth line-up.
She said: “I thought it was kind of taking shape, and then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer, because quite often we’ll be booked up from July.
“But this year we’re holding out for a little bit longer.
“And then last week I got a call from [a representative of] a really big American artist saying, ‘This person’s around next year’, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible. Thank God we held the slot’.”
We can hear the farm calling our names already.
Although I still haven’t quite got the stench of the long drop toilets out of my cagoule from last year . . .
Rapper’s ex Julia is a bit clingy
KANYE WEST’s wife Bianca Censori has been getting a lot of flak over the past week for wearing next to nothing – but the rapper’s ex-girlfriend is giving her a run for her money.
Actress Julia Fox, who had a short-lived romance with Ye in 2022 after his split from Kim Kardashian, was out in Paris on Sunday in this outfit, which looked like it was made from shredded cling film.
She wore the quirky outfit for the Mugler show at Paris Fashion Week, despite chilly weather.
Later she wore a cowboy hat, tasseled top and trenchcoat, which also didn’t leave much to the imagination.
I hope this isn’t fashion’s latest trend.
I’ll either end up with hypothermia or some very strange tan lines.
Olly’s roll of honour for Amelia
OLLY MURS’s wife has more than just a bun in the oven – there’s also a load of pastries and pasties.
Amelia was treated to a Greggs-themed baby shower on Sunday, with her pop star hubby in a sausage roll outfit and a “Preggs” van to serve treats from the high street brand.
Communications manager Amelia said on Instagram: “Feel very honoured to be the first to have a Preggs van at my baby shower.”
Olly, who said the way to his heart is a sausage bean cheese melt, added: “I wasn’t supposed to be at the baby shower, it’s the rules, but today was an exception.”
That would tempt me to go, too.
Is Jack a Black belt?
JACK BLACK has been voicing the character Kung Fu Panda for 16 years but now he’s proving he has the surprise talent which could turn the animation into a live action movie.
The actor showed his impressive flexibility with this high kick at the premiere of Kung Fu Panda 4 in Los Angeles.
He could give Jackie Chan a run for his money.
And it’s definitely more than I could manage, even though he is two decades older.
There’s been a lot of talk of a new Karate Kid movie starring legacy actors Ralph Macchio and Jackie.
Keep practising and you could bag a role in that, too, Jack.
