Occasional Digest - a story for you

There’s a great washing machine deal that Amazon shoppers are rushing to buy – and it’s one we’ve actually tried and tested ourselves.

Amazon has slashed the price of the AEG 7000 ProSteam by a whopping 44%, taking the price down to £499.99 from £899.99.

We spotted the AEG 700 on Amazon’s best-selling washing machines page – clearly that £400 discount has gone down a treat with shoppers.

It’s part of a limited-time sale on AEG appliances, which includes ovens, dishwashers, fridges and vacuums.

This is a washing machine we have first-hand experience of trying, and we can vouch for its quality.

But if you’re interested, you’ll need to act with haste as it’s a limited-time deal over on the Amazon website.

Sun Select Editor Joel Watson was lucky enough to get his hands on the ‘low-noise dream’, putting it to the test so you have all the information before making a purchase.

In his hands-on AEG 7000 Prostream review, Joel gives his personal rating and a full, in-depth rundown of the pros and cons.

The washing machine has an 8kg capacity, so it is on the smaller side: ‘On the bright side, it’s quite a compact machine,’ and since there’s not a lot of wasted space, it fits neatly into washing machine cubbies with room to spare.

One setting that sets it apart from typical machines is its steam function.

As Joel says: ‘You can either add steam to the end of a regular cycle, which reduces the wrinkles in your clothes when you take them out, or you can freshen up clothes that don’t need a full wash in a separate cycle.’

Additionally, ‘AEG says the 7000 ProSteam has a smooth care drum pattern’, which claims to put less wear and tear on your clothing, meaning it might last longer.

Perhaps the greatest strength to this appliance, through, is how quiet it is.

Joel put the machine through a few different cycles to see the differences and found: ‘The thing that shocked me the most about the AEG 7000 ProSteam was the noise — or lack thereof.’

He discovered that the machine was so quiet that he ‘went back to check on it after 20 minutes assuming [he had] messed up the settings and not turned it on, only to discover that it was working, just incredibly quietly.’

However, while the machine is extremely impressive, it’s worth taking into account the possible downsides. In terms of functions and capabilities, there are no complaints, but ‘The wheel to select the programmes works well, the buttons to turn the machine on and off and to begin and pause cycles are a bit stiff and non-responsive.’

If you’re hunting for more ways to upgrade your home, it’s worth checking out a ‘slick and affordable’ smart thermostat I spotted earlier today that’s been reduced to just £48.
