The New Year is typically a quiet time for tech deals, but it’s always worth perusing Amazon to see what’s on offer.
We spotted this item on Amazon’s best-selling tablets page: it’s currently the 4th-most popular tablet on the site and has clearly proved a massive hit with shoppers.
The fact it comes from one of the biggest manufacturers on the planet is one obvious plus point.
But we also took a look over the Tab A8’s specs and features, and it’s got plenty to offer besides the big-brand name.
The 10.5-inch screen puts it at just a tad smaller than the 2022 Apple iPad, which measure 10.9 inches in size and is another Amazon best-seller right now.
To be clear, we’re not directly comparing devices: the iPad is undeniably more powerful device, and one that costs over £300 more (though is currently £50 cheaper).
By contrast, the Galaxy A8 is more of an entry-level workhorse: one that’s armed with a moderate 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
It looks like the perfect shout if you’re simply after something for a bit of browsing and streaming – perhaps if you like watching TVs and films on the move but don’t like squinting at your smartphone.
The last standout deal we saw on a budget-friendly tablet was the Fire HD 8, which was reduced by 50% to £49.99 in Amazon’s festive sale – at full price it’s cheaper than the Galaxy A8, but with a much smaller display.
The Galaxy A8 has gathered an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 on the Amazon site, and with it an impressive list of positive reviews from shoppers.
One buyer writes: ‘It’s thin, well-made, high-quality. Functions perfectly. Fast, with memory slot if required. It’s perfect. Thank you Samsung.’
Another shopper describes it as a ‘good option budget tablet’, adding: ‘It’s slim and lightweight, and fast enough for my purposes – reading and internet browsing. No problem with viewing YouTube and it streams films without a problem.’
