TikTok user Haley revealed that she’d been browsing on the web when she decided to make the purchase, but that she’d never predicted the massive error that would occur.

“Somebody’s getting fired from Amazon – sorry if this was you,” she began in a video posted to her profile.

“So I ordered two mattress protectors for $23.52.”

Haley then explained that she had waited patiently for the order to arrive, before coming home one day to see a selection of big boxes that were bigger than her actual mattress.

She continued: “I thought, ‘hmm, why is this box and that box labelled mattress protector, why is it bigger than my mattress?’

“So I was a little confused on how two mattress protectors are bigger than the mattress.”

However, Haley said that she “didn’t think anything of it” and, instead, opened them up to put them on her bed.

The footage then cut to show that both big boxes were filled to the brim with smaller mattress protectors.

Haley then revealed: “I didn’t end up with two mattress protectors. I ended up with two boxes of 20 mattress protectors.

“So I have 40 mattress protectors instead of two.”

Her social media followers quickly reacted to the video, which has now gone viral with over 100k likes.

Many said they couldn’t believe Haley’s luck.

One person wrote: “Did you still pay $23.50 for the 40 mattress protectors?

“I would be cheering if this happened to me!”

A second shared their sentiments, as they added: “38 mattress protectors for sale.”

And it didn’t take long for others to theorise on what had happened – with one even claiming they had insider knowledge as they’d previously worked for Amazon.

They wrote: “Former Amazon associate here.

“The Associate that picked your order was supposed to open the box and grab just one.”

Meanwhile, others told Haley she wasn’t alone, as they’d experienced something very similar after ordering from the web.

One person recalled: “That happened to me once when I ordered headphones for my son.

“They just kept coming daily – finally stopped at 300 headphones.”

While another claimed: “I got 20 copies of a video game once instead of one.

“[They] told me to keep them – was nearly £400 worth of stock.”
