Dr. Azi (@skinbydrazi) shared the video with over 1.9 million TikTok followers.

The dermatologist reacted to a video of a woman cleaning her makeup sponge.

As the woman attempted to clean her sponge with water and dish soap, she realized the soap was not enough to get the sponge clean.

While the soap was antibacterial and helped to dissolve dirt and grime, it was not enough.

“It doesn’t do a great job, the makeup’s still on there,” Dr. Azi explained.

Instead, the proper way to clean the sponge involves a “secret sauce.”

“Hot water, that’s good, because it helps loosen up that debris and grime,” Dr. Azi said, watching the woman fill up a bowl with hot water.

Next was dish soap, great as an antibacterial dissolvent.

Last but not least was the magic ingredient: “Secret sauce, olive oil because oil attracts oil and helps to dissolve sebum from the skin,” Dr. Azi said.

“Oil and makeup and that is what is going to remove and lift off that debris, it’s a winner,” she added.

People took to the comments to share their thoughts, many shared their own methods.

“Makeup remover! Like put it in a bowl full of makeup remover,” said one commenter.

Others said the method might be tried and true but they simply couldn’t commit to it: “I am not doing that every time I do my make up,” said one viewer.
