Mark Allen plays a shot at the 2023-24 Champions of Champions
Allen reached his first final of the 2023-24 season

Mark Allen reached the Champion of Champions final with a 6-2 win over John Higgins.

The world number four will face Judd Trump in Sunday’s final.

Allen took control with the scores at 2-2 when several snookers left Higgins struggling in the fifth frame, before a break of 102 gave the Northern Irishman a 4-2 lead.

Allen moved three frames up after a costly red miss from Higgins, and a break of 77 sealed the win.

“It’s one of my favourite events and it’s great to be back in the final and have a crack at Judd,” said Allen, 37, who won the tournament in 2020.

“I don’t want to come here and finish second – I want to win it. I’m playing the man of the moment, undoubtedly the best in the world at the moment. It’s the ultimate test,” he told ITV Sport.

World number two Trump, who beat Barry Hawkins 6-3 on Friday, won the tournament in 2021 and reached last year’s final

“Any win against John’s a good win,” added Allen, “As the match went on, John made a few errors and that was the difference, because I felt I kept my level.”
