Craig, from Walsall Wood Tyre & Service in Walsall, West Midlands, uploaded a video clip to explain a simple way of avoiding an expensive trip to a repair shop.
The veteran grease monkey advised drivers of a simple way to establish if the fuel filter on the car was defective.
Craig said that evidence of fuel leaking from the filter onto the ground under the car was a red flag which meant the filter was broken.
But Craig said that if that was not the case, there was something that drivers could do to check if the fuel filters were working.
He said: “Take the pressure pipe from the back of the filter. If the fuel goes in but does not come out, its gone. It’s that simple.”
The simple check will identify issues with the fuel filter which can be easily corrected.
But if the problem is not identified, the driver could be left with a big repair bill.
Craig, an expert under the bonnet, recently warned drivers not be tempted by discounted MOT tests.
He said that garages that offered cheap MOT rates were turning a blind eye to mechanical faults and issues that could result in a serious accident.
