Dom Hall, who is currently a law student in Washington DC, took to her social media account to share all her tips with viewers.
Dressed in a white turtleneck with a pink cardigan on top, she said: “Hi everyone, my name is Dom and I wanted to explain how I paid off $8,000 (£6,000) in credit card debt in two months.”
She said the very first thing you need to do in order to be able to pay everything off is to write down your goals.
“I am the queen of manifestation and I write down every single goal that I have,” she said.
Dom then shared an entry in her journal, as she said: “My main goal was to pay off my credit card and my subset goal was to pay $4,000 (£3,223) immediately.
“To do that I had to adjust my budget accordingly, which I will explain.”
On the page, she said she wouldn’t be ordering out from DoorDash, which is the US equivalent Deliveroo.
She also wrote down that she would have no alcohol and wouldn’t go “crazy at Sephora”.
Dom then explained that she’s a law student and her parents don’t pay her tuition fees.
“So I have to take out the full cost of living stipend that my law school recommended,” she said.
“Side note, if you don’t know about law school financing – there is an estimated cost of living budget, which is also included into tuition.”
Over this, she wrote: “Law schools provide their estimated yearly budget for students to live off of (if you’re not paying out of pocket).
“I am 23 years old, regular California suburban girl, I had to take out loans.”.
She went on: “That’s to say that my income (which she received all at once) allowed me to immediately pay off half of my credit card bill.”
She wrote over this: “If you get paid normally (every 2 weeks) you can still follow my advice (same formula dif method).”
She continued: “So when you have a goal, you need to have a mini goal and tailor that to you income.
“So when I did this, I knew I could only spend $400 (£322) a month on my ‘fun money’ and that would allow me to pay off $4,000 (£3,223) of my credit card.”
Dom explained that she had a summer associate position at a “big law firm”, which meant she “did get a lot of money”.
“But that meant that I was in a different tax bracket and I got taxed a lot of money. So I basically did get a large tax refund because a lot of my salary will be going to taxes.
“Therefore, with my tax refund, I was able to pay for the rest of the $4,000 (£3,223) in the credit card debt…”
She said that she basically divided her monthly income into a budget that would allow her to pay off the debt sooner.
People were quick to comment on her post as one person wrote: “Eliminating doordash and uber eats would change the game for me lmao”.
Another posted: “If I could pay $4k in a month I wouldn’t be in debt”.
While a third joked: “I love how it says no door dash and no alcohol. But “ don’t go crazy at Sephora “ like Sephora gets a little pass … I get it,” followed by three crying with laughter emojis and a purple heart emoji.
