The England captain is yet to make a decision about the move, but had previously been reported as ‘leaning towards’ staying in North London.

And former-pro-turned-pundit Owen has weighed in on what he thinks the Spurs striker should do.

Owen took to social media to share his opinion on the potential move, writing: “I know Bayern are a massive club and I have huge respect for them but if I were Kane I’d stay put.

“There’s no great achievement in winning a trophy with them. Real Madrid I would understand. Or one or two top Premier League clubs for that matter.

“Becoming the all time Premier League top goal scorer at Tottenham is a bigger achievement than winning the league in a country dominated by one club.”

Kane is just 47 goals off breaking Alan Shearer’s 260-goal record of the most Premier League goals scored of all time.

But despite the nice sentiment from Owen online, it would seem he may have forgotten he has already weighed in on this debate before.

Back in 2021, the former Liverpool and England star took to Twitter to give a completely different opinion on Kane potentially leaving Spurs in pursuit of trophies.

As spotted by 101GreatGoals, he wrote: “You can’t blame Harry Kane for wanting a new challenge. It’s a short career and Spurs are miles off winning things at present.

“It was now or never. He’s shown great loyalty but it would be a huge shame if he finished his career with no medals to show for it.”

Harry Kane is yet to win a trophy in his career and a move to Bayern Munich would all but guarantee some silverware, with the Bavarians regularly dominating the Bundesliga.

But he has previously expressed how much he would like to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.
