Welcome to the big leagues, Sal Frelick.
The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder made his MLB debut in the team’s 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves Saturday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee, where he registered two web defensive gems, three hits and two RBI, including the game-winner.
He’s the first player in franchise history to record three or more hits and two RBI in his MLB debut, according to ESPN. He’s also the sixth player over the last 25 seasons with three hits and a game-winning RBI in his MLB debut.
“I’m always nervous going into every game, but you get that first hit and that first catch, you settle in,” said Frelick, who got a Gatorade bath after the win. “I think these fans are unbelievable. Walking out for the first time and getting such a warm welcome. And then going out and being able to give them something to cheer for. It’s super special.”

In his first at-bat in the bottom of the second inning, Frelick showed off his speed and legged out an infield single off Braves pitcher Allan Winans with the Brewers trailing 3-0. He singled to right field his next time to the plate and came around to score at the bottom of the fifth inning, cutting the Braves lead to 3-1.
The Brewers trailed 3-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth. Frelick batted in Jesse Winker on a left field single off Braves pitcher Michael Tonkin to tie the game 3-3. Frelick’s sacrifice fly off Braves closer Joe Jiménez in the bottom of the eighth inning put the Brewers ahead 4-3 and they held on for the win.
Frelick didn’t just get it done on the offensive end. He made two leaping catches at the right field wall to rob Marcell Ozuna and Orlando Arcia in the sixth inning.
