A two-game series prevents an obvious problem, right? Unlike the men’s three-gamers, it’s highly likely that there will be drawn series when only two matches are played.
So, with Queensland leading 1-0 after their 18-10 win three weeks ago and no reigning series winner to simply retain the shield in the event of a tied series, what happens if the Sky Blues win tonight?
LoadingThen the winner will be decided by total points scored in the series, which means even if Queensland are trailing late in this game, the fire will still be there to scrap to get over the line or kick a goal to make sure the aggregate is still in the black.
If NSW also win 18-10 tonight, leaving both teams even, then we’re getting into England in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final-type areas.
If the aggregates are even then the countback starts. In descending order:
- Most tries scored.
- Most goals kicked.
- Most drop goals kicked.
- Least amount of penalties conceded.
- The team that scored the first try of the series.
- The team that scored the first goal of the series.
- The team that scored the first drop goal of the series.
And after that I guess they just flip a coin.
