Martin helped lead the Heat over the Boston Celtic in seven games, and NBA fans believe he was “robbed” of ECF MVP.
The 27-year-old scored 26 points, grabbed ten rebounds, and added three assists and one steal while playing 45 out of 48 minutes.
He was 11-for-16, including a 4-for-6 from 3-point range.
Martin finished the series against Boston averaging 19.3 points a game after averaging 9.6 in the regular season.
However, he was not named ECF MVP when the NBA released their votes.
Miami’s star forward Jimmy Butler received five votes, barely beating out Martin, who received four.
NBA fans rushed to social media to express their frustration that Martin did not win the award.
One said: “Caleb got robbed.”
Another expressed: “Channeling all my emotions into a Caleb Martin was robbed campaign.”
A third voiced he was a Butler fan but still disagreed: “As much as I love Butler, Caleb Martin was the correct choice here.”
And a fourth: “Caleb Martin was robbed!”
To be fair, the ECF MVP probably isn’t on Butler’s mind.
He was caught after the game by cameras telling teammate Bam Adebayo to keep the trophy away from him:
“I’ll hold the next one.”
Miami will face the Denver Nuggets to start the NBA Finals on Thursday.
