Emmerdale viewers have learned some big news about a couple that was rather unexpected, with the loved ones of the pair as equally as stunned over a wedding bombshell
There was some big news during Thursday’s episode of Emmerdale as another couple announced their engagement.
Warning, this article contains spoilers from Thursday’s episode that is now available on ITVX but will not air on ITV1 until Thursday evening (24 April). It seems there is another wedding on the way in a surprising twist as another couple planned to get married, just as it seemed they may split up.
It comes ahead of John Sugden’s wedding to Aaron Dingle, which is currently being planned, while Chas Dingle and Liam Cavanagh have put their own nuptials on hold. Liam and Chas got engaged in recent weeks before pausing the planning of their big day, handing their date and plans over to her son Aaron.
But, now, another pairing has decided to wed and they announced their engagement on Thursday’s show. After Vinny Dingle shared his concerns over his relationship with Gabby Thomas, things did a full on spin as the pair went from facing a split to getting engaged.
Vinny asked Gabby to marry him and she made it clear she was keen. This was not mentioned in spoilers at all and was kept back until the episode dropped on Thursday online.

In the episode, Gabby and Vinny wasted no time in confirming the news to their loved ones. Vinny’s mum Mandy Dingle and Gabby’s stepmother Laurel Thomas were both utterly shocked by the decision.
While they seemed happy for the pair, it was clear they did not expect the announcement, and were unsure if it was the right move for the pair. They weren’t the only ones though as fans watching the scenes took to social media to have their say.
As one fan called the big news a “lovely twist”, some could not hide the fact they did not see the pair as working as a couple. One fan said: “A lovely twist for Gabby & Vinny.”
Another disagreed: “Can Gabby /Vinny just go back to being friends now… (I tried, I really did, but it’s a lost cause).” A third fan posted: “They don’t make a good couple at all.”
The future is yet to be revealed but it seems we have our third wedding on the way. Aaron and John’s is tipped to be happening soon, while Chas and Liam have yet to decide on a new date.
The third Dingle tying the knot this year, Vinny, has also yet to pick a date with Gabby. Could we see a triple or double wedding on the cards? It wouldn’t be the first time the soaps have done this.
Vinny has been married before but, sadly, his wife Liv Flaherty died after being crushed by a caravan. He and Liv’s best pal Gabby grew closer after her death, and now they are set to marry.
