The Peak District is home to some beautiful walking trails, but one 5km route is particularly special as it has seven waterfalls to discover. Here’s what you need to know
As the evenings get lighter and temperatures rise, it’s time to pull out your hiking boots and prepare to discover some of the UK’s most stunning locations on walking holidays. If you’re in search of staycation ideas, there’s a hidden treasure that should definitely be on your list, especially as it boasts seven magnificent waterfalls.
Nestled in the awe-inspiring Peak District, one of the UK’s 15 national parks, is a 5km walk in Derbyshire that’s suitable for all skill levels and offers truly amazing countryside views. It’s situated on the park’s western edge near the village of Tintwistle, where you’ll find plenty of affordable places to stay overnight.

For instance, Hotels.com offers hotel stays from £97, while Booking.com provides a variety of accommodation starting at £88 per night. If you prefer self-catering, Vrbo is an excellent source for quaint cottages in the area.
A trail featuring seven consecutive waterfalls is bound to attract visitors, so the team at Derbyshire Live decided to test the walk to see if it lives up to its reputation.
They began the loop near Arnfield Reservoir in Tintwistle, but cautioned that parking can be difficult during peak seasons. The walk then led them up Crossgate Lane, past a farm where you might be fortunate enough to spot a peacock.
From there, you turn left onto Arnfield Lane until you reach Gamekeeper Cottage. Here, you’ll find a gate and a footpath that stretches for about 1.3km – just be aware it gradually inclines.
You’ll know you’re on the right path when you pass through a gate between two large woodland areas. Continue along the path until you spot a man-made pile of stones, which signals a left turn down a narrow footpath.
If you overlook the pile of stones, keep an eye out for the first left-hand turn into a footpath after walking through the gate between the woods.
After a few minutes on this path, you’ll begin to see and hear the seven waterfalls, ranging from small cascades to thunderous falls.
There are ample opportunities for photos and serene spots to sit back and enjoy a sandwich. After soaking in the beauty of these waterfalls, you can either backtrack or plan another route to explore more of the Peak District.
