Coronation Street’s Chesney Brown was horrified to learn villain Mick Michaelis had threatened his wife Gemma Winter after his attack on Sean Tully on the ITV soap
It seemed one character was ready to turn against Coronation Street villain Mick Michaelis during Wednesday night’s episode.
One character was horrified to find out about his recent behaviour, especially after he was keen to distance himself from Mick and his wife Lou recently. But a threat to his wife seemed like the final straw, but soon there was another warning that sparked more concern.
Chesney Brown was furious to return home after some time away to learn Mick had targeted his wife Gemma. While he was worried to hear Gemma had still been spending time with Mick and Lou after recent drama, his fears escalated to find out Mick had cornered Gemma and issued a threat.
Not only that but the news of his assault on Sean Tully and the fact Gemma had been guilt-tripped into giving attacker Mick an alibi left Chesney concerned, as Gemma could be in trouble – never mind the fact people were turning on her. Chesney still has no idea that Mick knows he was the person who damaged his van before he headed to the Cobbles.
He’s decided to keep a distance knowing how dangerous he is, fearing the truth will come out. So Gemma not getting the message and then making things worse left Chesney fearing they’d never be rid of the pair.

But it was Gemma revealing all about Mick threatening her over the alibi that left Chesney worried for her safety and his. Then later on in the episode, Mick once again turned sinister as he and Lou showed up at their house.
Mick took Chesney aside with a sinister look on his face, and said Gemma had “been getting on the wrong side of him lately”, telling him to “rein her in” for all their sakes. Chesney was clearly upset by the comment, but also fearful of what Mick had planned for Gemma has he issued a second threat.
Fans had already feared for Gemma and shared their outrage over Mick’s vile behaviour towards her and Sean after recent episodes. The latest jibe from Mick left fans horrified, ahead of the villain’s exit from the ITV soap this summer.
Viewers began guessing who might find out about the threats and help Gemma. While Chesney was too scared to stand up to Mick and call him out over the remarks, with Gemma also staying silent, fans think another character will learn the truth and take action.
Viewers think it will be Gemma’s mother Bernie Winter who hears what Mick has done and takes revenge. Viewers have questioned whether Bernie will call Mick and Lou out, putting an end to their reign of terror on the street.
One fan said: “Gemma, you tell Bernie he’s threatened you and she’ll go for him.” Another said: “Need Bernie to bring down Lou and Mick,” as a third said: “Is he going to beat up Gemma now? Hope Bernie gets her hands on him.”
A further post read: “Gemma needs to tell her mam, what Mick did to her. Bernie would sort him out straight away.”
