After less than a week in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Hollywood star Mickey Rourke was officially asked to leave following a string of inappropriate and offensive remarks to multiple housemates
After several days marked with controversy in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Hollywood star Mickey Rourke has officially been axed from the show following what CBB described as “further use of inappropriate language and unacceptable behaviour.”
Since stepping into the CBB house at the start of the competition, Mickey has been no stranger to controversy, after he made numerous fat phobic and homophobic remarks, as well as belittling his co-stars cooking skills. Yet despite warnings from CBB about watching his language and his attitude, a further incident has now led to his removal from the competition altogether.
A spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother said: “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour.”
It is understood that following the offensive remarks on Wednesday, there were further incidents regarding Rourke, with the final straw coming after he locked horns with Love Island ’s Chris Hughes during a task.
Although the altercation didn’t become physical, a disagreement between the pair led to behaviour and language deemed threatening and aggressive, leaving CBB no choice than to ask Rourke to leave the house.
The latest incident follows on from earlier interactions with his fellow housemates, which included a string of homophobic remarks towards JoJo Siwa, when he made comments about Siwa’s sexuality, telling her “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.”
He also told the singer he would “tie you up” and later vowed to “vote out the lesbian”, before being confronted by Siwa who slammed the star for being homophobic.
In a further incident he later commented he “I need a f**”, while referring to a cigarette, before gesturing to Siwa and bluntly saying “I’m not talking to you.”
This prompted Chris Hughes to jump to Jojo’s defence and tell Mickey “you can’t say that” although it still appears to have fallen on deaf ears.
Following the interaction, Mickey was summoned to the diary room and given an official warning by Big Brother and later apologised, but any remorse was short-lived as he later came under fire for making fat phobic comments towards Donna Preston.
Yet even before all this unfolded on screen, Rourke had drawn widespread criticism from fans for his “creepy” behaviour towards AJ Odudu when entering the house on Monday’s launch show. The complaints stemmed from an “uncomfortable” amount of time that he spent staring at her body, prompting AJ to tell him to “stop looking at me.”
And if that wasn’t enough to seal his exit from the show, a further incident also involved reducing EastEnders star Patsy Palmer to tears on Friday after he made repeated jibes about her cooking.
In fact, Mickey’s catalogue of wrongdoings even prompted some viewers on social media to threaten to boycott the show unless he was removed.
Following Rourke’s first warning, one horrified fan wrote on X: “Sorry a warning isn’t enough. Telling a 21 year old he’ll tie her up? She won’t be gay anymore? All the language he used? He’s disgusting and should be removed straight away. #CBBUK #CBB.”
