A popular seaside town home to the infamous Butlins holiday brand has just unveiled a new facility aimed at children
A bustling seaside town on the southern coast is about to get busier after an £1.8million cash injection.
Butlin’s Bognor Regis resort on the West Sussex coast has just opened two new immersive experiences for guests after the pricey overhaul, a move which is expected to draw in more families to the complex, and the town, going forward.
The family-friendly resort, which has been running in the south of England since the 1960s, borders the beautiful South Downs National Park, with a lovely calm beach perched on the doorstop. The much-loved holiday chain, with sister sites in Somerset’s Minehead and Lincolnshire’s Skegness, is renowned for its family-at-heart ethos.
They have long provided immersive entertainment, activities, and attractions like fairground rides, water parks, and live shows for the whole family. And now little ones have a huge soft play experience to immerse themselves in at Bognor.
Along with a puppet theatre space, the 3,000 sq ft facility has four storeys split into three distinct sections for babies, toddlers, and juniors.

Not only is Butlin’s Bognor Regis resort now home to the largest soft play area, but it also has a £15 million indoor activity centre called PLAYXPERIENCE, which opened in October. The 50,000-sq ft state-of-the-art attraction has nine immersive gaming experiences for kids of all ages and has been an absolute success since its launch last year.
The new soft play area, which is double the capacity of what was standing before, can now welcome up to 200 children at any time allowing kids to climb, bounce, and play in the enormous interactive and sensory space while adults enjoy a new 100-person seating area and refreshments with a full playground view.
All sections within the play area are themed around the colourful characters of the popular Butlin’s Skyline Gang. Each character has their own section, which is filled with slides, climbing challenges, log ramps, cargo nets and more, and a spacious multi-sensory area for babies.
The puppet theatre shows are free for families on Butlin’s breaks and day visits. Exciting brand-new shows for 2025 include Under the Sea, Jingle in the Jungle, and Christmouse.

The launch of these two new additions to Butlin’s Bognor Regis resort comes just in time for Easter half term. Last-minute Easter half-term bookings start at just £129 (£33 pp).
This price includes four nights in a four-sharing, two-bedroom apartment from 21 April in Bognor Regis, all live shows and headline acts, free-flow access to Splash Waterworld pools, unlimited fairground rides, the new Skyline Gang Soft Play, and playgrounds.
