Anita Dobson appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, where she gave an update on her husband Queen legend Sir Brian May

Anita Dobson appeared on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, joining hosts Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins in the ITV studio.

The beloved EastEnders legend, 75, was there to chat about her dramatic return to Albert Square as Angie Watts for the soap’s 40th-anniversary celebrations earlier this year and her role as Mrs Flood in Doctor Who.

But the conversation soon turned to Anita’s rock star husband, Queen’s very own Sir Brian May, when host Charlotte, 49, enquired: “And how is Sir Brian doing we should ask of course as he hadn’t been well had he?”

Anita gave a reassuring four-word answer: “He’s very well now”, before adding: “I’m very happy to say, thank you both for asking, he’s very well now, he’s back to his old self!”.

This update follows Sir Brian’s candid Instagram revelation back in September that he’d suffered a ‘minor stroke’ leading to loss of control in his arm, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The 77-year-old musical legend described the health scare as ‘a little scary’ at the time but was quick to praise the ‘fantastic care’ he received from Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, as shared in an Instagram video on September 4.

He said at the time he was ‘grounded’ after being advised not to drive, fly or do any activity which would send his heart rate too high.

In 2020, Brian also suffered a heart attack, and feared he ‘could have died’ at the time, having initially thought he had simply suffered a gardening injury.

He subsequently had his heart fitted with three stents, which are tiny tubes that hold open blocked arteries, which helped him recover.

Back in September, when the musician addressed his ‘minor stroke’, he urged his fans to refrain from sending good wishes.

“I really don’t want sympathy,” he stated. “Please don’t do that because it’ll clutter up my inbox and I hate that.”

The update comes as Anita and Brian celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary in November.

He expressed gratitude with a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing: “Thanks for all your kind wishes – we are 24 years young !

“Take care out there folks and Carpe Diem ! Because tomorrow … who knows where the wind might blow.”

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV X.
