Paul Scholes shares big concern
Man Utd legend Paul Scholes reckons co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will sell Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho in the summer transfer window.
Scholes told Premier League Productions: “It has to be a major concern.
“Where’s the money coming from for new signings? We saw those interviews with Sir Jim and they didn’t make good reading.
“It doesn’t look like Ruben Amorim will get a war chest to go to war with. It doesn’t feel like that.
“I get the impression, and I could be wrong, but I think they might sell the two young players. I think they might sell Mainoo and Garnacho.
“Maybe they sell them this summer. The Mainoo one would hurt. They both would. Garnacho came later but Mainoo has been at the club since he was a kid.
“He had a brilliant season last year and it makes the academy system look bad if a player like him can’t make it and they have to sell him.
“I hope I’m wrong, I hope they don’t do that, but the noises I hear, it is a big concern.”
Red Devils want Prem striker
Manchester United are interested in signing Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, according to talkSPORT
Cunha has a release clause of £62.5million, which kicks in this summer.
Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on Cunha but the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams area ahead of him on their list in both the number nine and left-wing positions.
It is understood Cunha’s agent will fly to England soon for face-to-face talks with potential suitors, and has already made some initial contact with United.
Man Utd eye midfield target
Manchester United have set their sights on attempting to recruit Ederson from Atalanta, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
Amorim is determined to find a new midfield partner for Ugarte amid lingering doubts over academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term future.
The Brazil international will head into the summer with a price tag in the region of £52million as current employers Atalanta are desperate to keep him on board after playing a crucial role in their attempts to be crowned the Serie A champions, potentially complicating matters for the Red Devils.
Delap now a top target
Man Utd have made Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap their number one target for the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have identified Delap, 22, as their preferred option up top ahead of Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen.
Delap has emerged as a favourite amongst the hierarchy at Old Trafford as manager Ruben Amorim prepares to be backed financially in the summer.
Delap, who has scored 12 goals in 30 Premier League goals this season, is thought to be available for £40m if Ipswich are relegated at the end of the season – an outcome that looks highly likely.
The striker joined The Tractor Boys in the summer from United’s neighbours Manchester City in a £20m deal.
Man Utd to find buyer for Hojlund
Manchester United are prepared to offload Rasmus Hojlund when the transfer window reopens, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
Amorim has pinpointed the lack of a threat in the final third of the pitch as the most pressing concern ahead of having another chance to make changes to the squad he inherited from predecessor Erik ten Hag earlier in the season.
GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United will go into the summer transfer window with a willingness to sell Hojlund, having seen him struggle to make a telling impact in the goalless draw against Manchester City last weekend, but they may face difficulties when it comes to trying to find a viable destination.
Ferdinand demands Man Utd transfer
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand says the club ‘need’ to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, speaking on his Rio Presents podcast.
He said: “We need Osimhen. We need experience. We need someone who knows how to score. We need someone who can come and show these young strikers at Manchester United how to do it.
“If I’m Man United, I’m making it happen. I want someone who knows their way around the football pitch at the elite level, and knows how to score at the elite level consistently. Osimhen’s done that.
“I want the here and now. Yes, Osimhen hasn’t played in the Premier League, but I don’t care.”
