Another season of The White Lotus has come to a devastating conclusion
Warning – this article contains major spoilers for The White Lotus season 3 finale
The latest season of Mike White’s critically acclaimed murder mystery drama The White Lotus has come to a close, following its most dramatic finale yet.
This year saw more affluent guests meet their untimely end at a resort in Thailand after a week filled with drug-induced chaos, scandalous family disputes and revenge.
After the season kicked off with a horrifying shootout resulting in at least one body floating in the hotel pond, fans have been on tenterhooks for two months to discover who would meet a tragic end.
Let’s delve into everything that unfolded in The White Lotus’ season three finale, Amor Fati, reports the Mirror US.
The Ratliffs
Season three has been leading up to a potentially catastrophic ending for the Ratliffs after Timothy (played by Jason Isaacs) finds out his embezzlement scheme has been uncovered and a life of poverty awaits his family post-holiday.
When his wife Victoria (Parker Posey) confesses she’d rather die than live without their wealth, Timothy recklessly snatches a gun from resort security guard Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong).
While contemplating ending both his and his wife’s life, Gaitok manages to retrieve the gun. Later, his daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) decides she doesn’t want to give up her luxurious lifestyle after all, having spent the night at a Buddhist monastery.
In a dramatic twist in the finale, Timothy resorts to using poisonous fruit to concoct a piña colada cocktail for everyone except Lochlan (Sam Nivola), who’s under 21 and has claimed he could live without money.
However, despite having a last-minute change of heart and preventing his son Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) from drinking the lethal cocktail, disaster nearly strikes the next morning when Lochlan unknowingly uses the leftover fruit to make a smoothie.
As Timothy oversleeps and the rest of the family head off for breakfast, Lochlan falls violently ill and faints, experiencing a near-death vision of drowning while four statues ominously watch over him. Ironically, it is Lochlan, the one family member Timothy tried to protect, who comes closest to death.
Fortunately, he regains consciousness in his father’s arms, claiming that he “saw God” during his blackout. As the episode concludes, Timothy warns his family to brace themselves for changes upon their return home.
Belinda and Greg
Meanwhile, spa manager Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) made a comeback this season after almost entering into a business partnership with Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) in the first season.
She soon recognises Tanya’s husband, Greg (Jon Gries), who is now living under the alias ‘Gary’ and hiding out in Thailand after orchestrating Tanya’s murder in the second season.
Belinda embarks on a romance with fellow masseuse Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul), with the duo planning to start a business together. However, his dreams are shattered when Belinda accepts a whopping $5million bribe from Greg, after her son Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) convinces her to increase his initial offer of $100,000.
Now, she’s compelled to remain silent about Tanya’s death and hide in fear that Greg might have a change of heart, ironically treating Pornchai in the same way Tanya treated her in the first season.
Girls’ Trip
The season was filled with drama for lawyer Laurie (Carrie Coon), housewife Kate (Leslie Bibb), and TV star Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan). However, their resolution turned out to be the most heartwarming moment of the finale.
Tensions rise when Jaclyn sleeps with hotel staff member Valentin (Arnas Fedaravicius), leading to Laurie hiding her jealousy and spending the night with his friend, Alexei (Julian Kostov).
But by their last night, they’ve managed to put their differences aside and become closer than ever.
After a heartfelt monologue from Laurie, who admits she’s been feeling down all week but doesn’t need religion to give her life purpose, they all express their love for each other and enjoy their final evening together.
However, the following morning, they all witness this season’s shocking twist when hotel owners Sritala (Lek Patravadi) and Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn) request a photo with Jaclyn.
Rick and Chelsea
After a wild night in Bangkok with his friend Frank (Sam Rockwell), Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins) is content having intimidated Jim, the man allegedly responsible for his father’s death.
He reunites with Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) at the White Lotus, but is taken aback at breakfast when he realises Sritala and Jim have followed him there.
Jim warns Rick to leave his hotel, but Rick stands his ground. Later, spotting Jim and Sritala chatting with Jaclyn and her pals, he seizes the chance to confront his father’s killer, impulsively grabbing the gun he had shown to Rick earlier.
Rick shoots him twice in the chest, but a grieving Sritala reveals that Jim was actually his father. Sritala immediately calls hotel security on Rick, leading to a shootout.

Chelsea follows Rick behind a large gong for cover from the bullets, but tragically gets caught in the crossfire.
As she lays dying, Rick rushes over to help her, lifting her up to carry her to safety. However, Gaitok catches up to them and is instructed by Sritala to shoot him.
Both Chelsea and Rick end up floating in the hotel pond and are later confirmed dead when we see their body bags being loaded onto the plane back to America.
