There’s heartbreaking scenes on EastEnders next week, as Walford gathers for Martin Fowler’s funeral.

The character sadly died in the explosion at The Queen Vic in February. As his distraught loved ones prepare to say goodbye it leads to a number of big scenes.

We see characters spiralling, struggling to cope and unable to move on. We see some characters appearing to hide things, while two characters look set to exit in the fallout to Martin’s farewell.

At the start of the week emotions run high as teen Lily Slater does her best to support her young siblings, only for her mum Stacey Slater to roll in drunk with her admitting to Sonia Fowler she can’t face the funeral. Lily’s fury at her mum builds, while soon the funeral service arrives.

Other characters finding it all too much are life-long friend Sharon Watts and Martin’s niece Vicki Fowler. Vicki’s new partner Ross continues to cause fury amongst some residents, but he decides to support her at the funeral.

There’s also anger for Martin’s partner Ruby Allen, who remains resentful towards love rival Stacey after the funeral and things bubble over. As a confrontation takes place theres a revelation that could destroy any hope of peace between them.

Soon Lily is hitting the bottle and when Stacey tries to make amends things turn sour. But residents are left reeling when Martin’s famous and beloved market stall is set on fire.

Stacey is determined to find out who is responsible, and as Jack Branning warns her to leave it to the police she believes she knows the culprit. But as the confronts them will she be wrong?

Not long after, Ruby decides enough is enough and announces she and son Roman will be leaving Walford for good. Finding things with Stacey too much, and soon Stacey goes to speak with her only to be told she’s already left.

Finally, Ross is hiding something as he tries to put things right with the people he has upset. He takes a mysterious phone call before telling Vicki they should stay in Walford longer than planned, so what is he up to?

Ross is hellbent on keeping Vicki in Walford, and suggests it should be on her brother Mark Fowler Jr to look after their mum Michelle not her. Soon Vicki gets a call from her mum Michelle, and it looks like Ross’ plan has worked.

Viewers will have to stay tuned though to find out what he is up to.
